I started using this 6-Disc cartridge player over ten years ago and am glad to see them coming back. I have at least 300 cartridges and label them by genres so I can have a variety of music. I'm a music collector and I use the random feature as it plays, in random order, every song on all six music CD's in the cartridge! When I burn on an 80-minute blank CD (I have a lot of vinyl to convert to digital) I can often have two albums on one music CD. They take anything that is burned "Red Book", the industry standard of high quality music. Every single song is played and if one CD has five songs that haven't played yet, then they play out and the player stops. You can have as much as eight hours maximum of music at your finger tips! I am glad this player is coming back and that the cartridge 3-pack is here to stay! I had purchased two back-up players in case one dies. Now, let the music live on! 5 Today Review on the cartridge. The cartridge in this player has to be one of the dumbest designs I have ever seen. The CD's go in up side down. If you want to check each slot , it's upside down so you cant read the CD which makes absolutely NO SENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . 2 Today CD PLAYER EXCELLENT PRODUCT FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO LOAD MORE THAN 1 CD AND IDS TIRED OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THE 'PLATTER TYPE 5 Today ##Pioneer PD-M426...a Great multi-disk player at a good price## I previously owned the Pioneer PD-M703 which was a great multi-disk (cartridge) player, but unfortunately after 10+ years of service it quit. I researched a replacement with multi-disk capabilities, however, the tray systems seem to have problems with noise and other issues according to reviews that I read. Pioneer had a 6-disk player (PD-M426)that I would still be able to use my existing 6-disk cartridges. The cartridges are handy for storing your cds by genre or personal likes. e.g. holiday, my favs, my wifes favs, etc. So the decision was easy, but the newest Pioneer 6-disk did not have the bells and whistles that the previous version had, like a standby LED, and far fewer front panel controls and lights. The price and the ability to reuse my existing 6-disk cartridges was my reason for choosing the PD-M426. I was hoping the newer version would provide decent quality adio output like the previous player. This player comes with a remote and it is also compatible with my Logitech Harmony 880 remote. To my delight, the Harmony remote did not need to be reprogrammed with the different Pioneer model number to control the newer player!! I tried the remote after getting the player installed and it worked. I wish the player had optional audio outputs other than the rca type...optical would have been nice. 4 Today Obsolete technology This player is a newer version of a Pioneer CD changer I have had since 1991. That original model was fantastic and lasted pretty much until 2008-- except for the fact that it did not play burned audio (not mp3, but audio) CDs. I bought the new model thinking that that would certainly have been updated, but to my disappointment it was not. When I called Pioneer, they said that this new model was designed in 1997, which explains why it does not play burned CDs. According to that representative, there are no Pioneer models newer than this. If this is anything like its predecessor, it's probably a very good player, except for this major drawback, which is why I feel that it really can't get more than two stars. 2 Today Great for small spaces I've been looking for a multi-disc cd player for nearly two years now. I have a small built-in cabinet where my old cd player was housed and could not find any other system that would fit in it. Finally, I found this great cd player which was the perfect depth. The other great thing was that it uses a magazine changer instead of a carousel changer. This helped since there was a cabinet divider directly in front of the changer. Also, it ended up being one of the least expensive that I have looked at. 5 Today Pioneer CD player We are enjoying the Pioneer CD player, and the disc changing system. There are several features that we really like, and it was very easy to set up. Suzan Boyles 4 Today Pioneer Changer M-426 I replaced a 1980's Pioneer Changer similar to the M426 that was no working. The new changer works great and uses the old CD changer holders. I love it. 4 Today Easy To Use Excellant product at an excellant price.
