No support.
I'm having trouble with my mouse. I loved and used it for three years. Great device. The thing drains batteries though. I upgraded the software from the logitech website and it would recognize it as a regular two button mouse. Finding help was a pain. No response from the site. Great Support Logitech!

Paint easily peeled off after only 2 weeks/ not warranted!!
Seems Logitech knows they did a poor job on the painting so, after only 2 weeks normal office use, try to clean the mouse's palm rest area with a napkin, and guess what, the silver painting comes off and the white plastic shows. :( Talked to Logitech support and descibed it to them, they said "Oh, you don't like that?" and then told me "the paint is not warranted". I guess because it's cosmetic, but only after 2 weeks? Sounds too soon to me. :(

not so good
this mouse is way too heavy to be comfortable over the long run

Great mouse
I recently installed this Logitech Wireless Optical Mouseman and both installation and operation have been without problem. How long will the battery last? I have measured the average battery current and observed the mouse exhibits three modes of operation, Active Mode (mouse is in motion), Slumber Mode(mouse motion has just ceased) and Sleep Mode (mouse enters Sleep Mode after 65 seconds of Slumber). If mouse is moved or any button is pressed the mouse will immediately enter Active Mode followed by Slumber Mode if there is no motion of the mouse. In Active Mode the mouse current is approximately 30 milliamperes. In Slumber Mode the mouse current is approximately 5 milliamperes. In Sleep Mode the mouse current is approximately 0.6 milliamperes. Based on an Alkaline AA battery of 1500 milliampere hour capacity the batteries should last for about 50 hours if the mouse is constantly in motion and 2500 hours (15weeks) if the mouse is always at rest. I measured these currents with the mouse resting on a uniform white surface (printer paper), a matt black surface, a smooth uniform light tan surface and a faux oak desk top. I found no substantial difference in the currents associated with the various modes due to the surface type. The back of a plastic table place matt makes a great surface for the mouse, smooth and uniform in texture. When I use the mouse on my light faux oak desk which has rather dark long grain lines the pointer tends to move in small jumps as the mouse crosses the grain lines. On any reasonably uniform surface the operation is smooth and the pointer is well controlled. In my setup with a non-metal computer desk the mouse responded from over10 feet from the receiver. I am not a gamer but to me the pointer responds instantly under all conditions including from Sleep or Slumber mode. The programmable buttons provide a wide range of options to customize the mouse operation.

Great mouse - But not for fast action games.
I like the mouse very much, but the optical mouse doesn't respond fast enough to use with games like Half-Life or Quake III. If you're not into fast action games, then this is the best mouse on the market.

Durable and then some
I've had my Logitech wireless optical mouse for almost 2 years. I also have pets who love to jump up on the chair where I mouse and knock the mouse to the floor. I would say that at the least, it falls from the 2 foot height once a day. I have never had a problem with this product. The other nice thing is that batteries last me about 3-4 months, and that is with near constant computer usage. The cost of the Logitech wireless optical mouse is far outweighed by its versatility, long battery life, and durability.

Eats Batteries
This thing really goes through batteries. Even when not in use, the red light inside still glows slightly, indicating that the batteries are slowly being drained. Removing batteries after each us prolongs battery life, but it's a pain in the .... Otherwise, using regularly requires frequent battery replacements. It's a good mouse in all other respects, but I'd much rather have the corded version. ( Are all cordless mice battery hungry? If not, which ones are most battery efficient? )

Great Mouse - Buy it
This is an amazing mouse. I never realized how much I would appreciate not having the cord. It is really nice not to have the resistance of a cord when you are using the mouse. My desk is also a lot more tidy. It fits perfectly in my hand. The buttons are very well laid out and the battery life is about 2 or 3 months. The transmitter works best when it is within about 2 feet of the mouse. There is no need for a mouse pad because it is optical - it works flawlessly on my light wood grain desk. My only complaint is that the blue rubber surrounding the thumb button on the side wore out and edventually fell off. No big deal. I've been using this mouse everyday for over two years.

Great mouse but poor software drivers.
I've bought two Logitech wireless mice as well as their wired mice. In all cases their software drivers on both Mac and Windows have not been able to slow down the cursor movement to a practical speed. It would overshoot due to moving too fast even on the slowest speeds. Finally they came out with some software to nearly completely fix the speed control problem for the older non-wheel mice. This company is apparently making the most money it ever has if you see their financials. Too bad that economic success comes with a bit of blindness to product feature quality. I sure hope they fix this problem since I otherwise like their mice but have lost a lot of money chasing their features when their drivers can't stop erratic behaviors of the cursor.

Better than Microsoft's, but still lacking
Side by side (I have both at my desk right now) this mouse is hands down better than the wireless intellimouse explorer. HOWEVER, it does lose its mind once in awhile and jump across the screen. 1 month is about all you can expect the batteries to last. Big-handed people will find this thing a little small. The slope of the mouse puts your wrist and forearm at a funky angle. However, compared to the MS mouse...it (1) is not nearly as heavy (2)is better balanced (3) slides easier...which makes delicate pointing tasks easier (4) exhbits FAR less hysterisis (5) wakes up faster. One thing you will notice with almost all of the optical mice is their tendency to sleep on you as soon as you stop moving them. That fraction of a second that it takes them to wake up is enough to cause a "jump". I have yet to find a wireless optical mouse that does well for fine-positioning work found in graphic design tasks.
