| Product Reviews from Amazon.com (Rating System 1 to 5) |
| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Rollers go bad in months I bought this fax and originally had a great review of it, I gave it 5 stars too. I have leant a lesson not to review before 3 months. In about 3 months there were very frequent paper jams, there were day we could not send or recive faxes. It turns out the rubber rollers were not picking up the paper. We used good paper too from Xerox.
The tech says we need to get some product to "renew" the rubber, they have gone from black to grey-ish. The fax is in a relatively dust free office. The previous fax was the model before this one, we had it for 8 years, we only changed it because a part broke. | 5 | Today | Panasonic Fax Answering Machine Very unhappy with quality of machine. The first fax (3 pages) that I sent jammed during transmission and all 3 pages went as one. Also the paper after transmission comes out at the top and not bottom of machine so it curls over on itself. Poor design.
Quality of speaker was bad. Lots of static.
I returned it! | 1 | Today | Good Basic Fax Machine I have owned this machine for about 3 years and have used it as a home fax machine and have no complaints. Are there better machines available? Yes, but for the money this one is hard to beat. A great asset to my home office. It performs all of its functions very well. | 4 | Today | Very Good Machine I have owned this machine for about 4 years now and have never had any problems with it. I works great. It makes good copies, takes messages and faxes with out failing. The ink film is a little pricey but it lasts a long time. I would highly recommend this machine. | 4 | Today | Great sound, Great performance! I have found this to be the best fax/answering/speakerphone for the price. I tried the HP 1050, and had to return it (twice) because of poor sound quality. This unit has had no problems with feeding, copying, or sending/recieving faxes. I have used the unit everyday for 2 months, and think it is almost perfect. The speakerphone and answering machine are clear, even at max-volume. If you are like me, and don't like cordless phones, this is your machine. Too bad it doesn't come in black, or it would be perfect. | 5 | Today | A terrible machine This is the worst fax machine I have ever used. The paper feed constantly jams or, worse, never grabs the paper to begin with. If you try to send a multi-page fax you have to feed it in one page at a time. I also loathe the "film roll" cartridges, which are messy and difficult to install, as well as expensive. | 1 | Today | multipurpose workhorse First off, you have to consider how many things this machine is meant to do. It is not primarily a fax machine, although that is one of its functions. In my office, most work is done over the net or snail mail, we don't use the fax much at all. So, for an occational transmission/reception, it works very well. It hasn't failed yet. And as an answering machine, it records and plays clearly. It's easy to use and the speaker phone works well when screening calls. I've had this unit in service for about 1 year, and still have the original film drum in it. Like I said, we are only occational fax users and this unit sits on the line, answers it, takes and sends faxes without a hitch... Granted, the end quality doesn't hold to a laser fax, but it is fine for our operation and priced right! | 5 | Today | If only I'd spent just a little bit more! I was feeling broke when my fax died and I thought, why bother with one of those more expensive faxes? You just need a basic machine-- go for this one. Oy. Big mistake. I hate it. Instead of a tidy ink cartridge, you have to use a cumbersome Ink Film roll, which never goes in right, and when you finally do cram it in, it gets used up so quickly, you're always getting caught short. This is one of those moments when you realize the reason a machine is so [inexpensive] is because it is cheaply made. The plastic is flimsy, no parts line up quite the way they should. When this breaks, and I have no doubt that time will come soon enough, I will figure out other ways to economize-- and spring for a sturdier model. And absolutely one that does not rely on "patent pending" (why bother?) genuine Panasonic Ink Film. | 1 | Today |
