| Product Reviews from Amazon.com (Rating System 1 to 5) |
| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Surprisingly good Can't go wrong for the price. When positioned properly in the ears, the sound is very acceptable, loud, and clear. A little flimsy but for the cost, I'd just buy another pair if they broke. | 4 | Today | Frequency Response actually 10-23000Hz The product information online lists the frequency response as "greater than 20Hz to 20000". I own these headphones, I have the original packaging, and sony lists the frequency response at 10-23000Hz -- which is MUCH better than 20-20000. I just thought people might like to know that these headphones are actually a lot better than they are advertised.
I also like the way they fit. They are comfortable, I can wear them on long plane rides without hurting my ears and without having to constantly readjust them. They fold up nice and small, and I've had a single pair of these headphones last over a year already. | 5 | Today | Excellent Service Prompt & as advertised. Appreciate seller e-mailing to assure that I had intentionally ordered two. | 5 | Today | Nice headset for the money I've been using Sony vertical headsets for years because ear buds are too large for my small ears, and I prefer the vertical ones rather than the kind that go over the ears. I'm really happy with this hinged headset; the sound quality is very good-better than my last Sony vertical headset-and having it fold up is very convenient for carrying in my purse. I've been using it with an adapter for my cell phone and doubt that I'll be satisfied with a mono earbud after this. | 5 | Today | Great, while they last I love these headphones; unfortunately I have owned 4 pairs in 2 years. The plastic is very brittle and the handband always breaks near one of the 3 elbow joints. Too bad, because no other style compares to the comfort and portablility for running and the gym. | 3 | Today | In-the-Ear Headphones I ordered 3-hinged headphones, but the ones they sent me only had one (center) hinge. The day they arrived, my other set died, so I couldn't send them back for an exchange. Other than the ability to fold them small, they work fine | 4 | Today | Perfect for mobility and high quality sound Perfect for mobility and high quality sound!!...it's like the sony walkman ad, you're in your own bubble far from everythin in the sorroundings. | 5 | Today | Great set of headphones I've owned these headphones for about 6 years and they work great. I bought a second set as a gift for a friend, and she is very happy with them as well. The wires seem to be securely fastened so you don't get that annoying effect where the sound cuts in and out after a few years of use. The only problem I ever had was when I rolled over mine with my chair, but I fixed that with a soldering iron. I would definitely recommend these to others. | 5 | Today | First Impressions ***Update -- What I said below is accurate, but these things fell apart (left speaker stopped working) after only a couple of weeks. I returned them and will not buy them again. I recommend not buying them if you sweat profusely during the activity with which you intend to use them, e.g., running.
Here is a little info that I hope will be helpful. I think I'll keep em, but I'll keep you posted.
Pros:
-- Sound is not too bad. Can't expect much for <$20. Compared it to my Grado SR-60s and Sennheiser PMX70s -- the sound is noticeably more muffled and less detailed, but the bass comes through pretty nicely. I really have no complaint given the price and comfort
-- Very lightweight
-- Comfortable; not too much pressure on your head, but still secure
Cons:
-- Copyright Sony 1998, made for Discman (seriously, right from the package!) Old school.
-- Cord attaches on both sides, so you give up a little bit of freedom, which isn't that bad.
Conclusion:
If you want audiophile sound, look elsewhere. If you want better sound and a secure fit for running, go with the Sennheiser PMX70s, but beware: the PMX70s are tighter on my head and tend to hurt more after a while. And if you want a good value, something portable, and more than decent sound, get these. | 4 | Today | Very Nice Indeed! I seem to have those kind of ears that most ear buds just fall out of - one side or the other always flops out, no matter which manufacturer I try. Regular headphones always seem to slide off my ears. It's been a hard life, I tell you. ;->
These headphones - hallelujah! - stay in my ears and sound great. I have definitely gotten value for my money, and I thank all of you who took the time to write reviews about them, because I bought them based on your recommendations.
I find that they're easy to fold and unfold, and very lightweight to wear. My Zen player happened to come with a black velvet storage bag, so they fit inside there with the player. But I would think that one of those small plastic ZipLoc bags should also do the job for those of you who don't have a similar item. | 5 | Today |
