Couldn't live without my Clie PEGNX60
I've enjoyed my Clie for three years and the only problem I've experienced was when it became necessary to send the unit back to Sony repair center in San Diego last month to replace the built in battery at a fixed cost of $135! Plus shipping expenses. The Palm operating system is great and the syncing to Outlook and my WORD and Excel files has been reasonably seamless. Occasionally I've had to contact Sony telephone support, maybe 10 times in three years. Overall I'd give Sony technical support a score of 7 with 10 being best. I recommend this unit as a good alternative to buying an all in one phone/pda. Having two units instead of one provides a degree of safety. I'd hate the thought of loosing an all in one unit and having no data and no ability to contact people.

Olddie but still goodie!
I know this PDA is now old news but I must say that I absolutely love it! I find myself on the crossroads of whether to upgrade or not and it's killing me. I started many years ago with the Palm IIIxe, then briefly moved to the Pam Vx and then I purchased the Clie NX60. As fate would have it, before I even opened up the box, my office puchased PocketPC's for everyone. I never returned my Clie and it remained stored away in a closet. I was provided with an iPaq 3765 which served me well. They later upgraded us to iPaq 2210 which I really liked. I became very used to the PocketPC platform and never thought I'd be using Palm's again but then about 6 months ago I was transfered to a new office where no one was issued PDA's. Finding myself for the first time without a PDA in over 2 years, I went ahead and opened up my "brand new" box from the closet, pulled out the Clie and that's where my love affair with this device began. There are plenty of reviews online that have already described it's features with pros and cons. All I can say is that everything on this device is so well integrated, ergonomical, and beautiful that it's a pleasure to use and carry. As "old" as it is, I still get stares and positive comments concerning this Clie. It is definitely much easier to use than the PocketPC's. It difficult for me to understand why Sony pulled out of this market when they were macking such wonderful products. The only thing makiing me want to "upgrade" is the lack of Ram. I have packed so many programs into it that I've run out of space! Most are programs I need, such as a presentation program, DateBK5, Quicken, AvantGo, Sports training programs, etc. This has become critical, to the point that some programs won't load due to lack of space. I even purchased PowerRun (a great program) that moves the programs to the memory stick where they will run but for some reason most of those programs won't sync with the desktop programs. If it weren't for this delema I wouldn't even consider "upgrading." Maybe I can find a solution and keep my NX-60 for a long time. I don't think I'll find a "modern" device that will be able to substitute my Clie and give me the same type of feeling and satisfaction I currently get. If it weren't for the lack of memory (only 11 megs are useable, which I believe is its major flaw) this baby would be an undeniable keeper! It rates a 4 1/2 stars from me.

Outstanding PDA
I bought this device for use at work. I work as an emergency medicine physician so I was looking for something that would be "almost" pocket size or just easy to carry around in scrubs. Good points about this unit. It is very light compared to later models. Great color screen, very durable, sony brand quality. No camera. A good point because the unit is lighter, you are not paying extra money for poor, poor quality pictures, and you can purchase a pocket size digital camera for good prices now if you really *NEED* to take pictures. Overall, Great unit, great price. Worthwhile investment.

An Excellent PDA
If you know you want a Palm-based PDA, then this is the one. It's got a 200Mhz processor which makes it fast enough. Also has a voice recorder which can be fun as well as useful (It's easier to record your own voice when driving than it is to type something into your pda) With the memory stick media, you can play MP3s. You can fit anywhere from 20-40 songs (2-4 albums) on a 128MB memory stick. Also cool is the attached keyboard. Newer models in the Sony Clie NX line have attached digital cameras, although I didn't think that was necessary, since I already have a digital camera. Overall, this is a highly recomended PDA!

Great PDA specially for entertainment purposes
This is a great PDA. I was thinking of the Tungsten-T, but decided for the Clie because of its extended screen and multimedia capabilities. Programs like Documents To Go, media player, and web browser use the extended screen. Comes with a lot more programs. The screen tilts and moves over the keyboard for easier screen-only use. Tilt screen also allows to position the PDA on a desk and more the screen for better viewing. Memory expansion is a plus, specially to play MP3s, but the memory sticks are expensive. You can buy the compact flash driver (forgot the company name, $20) and use regular compact flash memory. I use the wireless LAN card so it is better for me to use the memory stick. Netfront 3 is great IF YOU DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE from the Sony web site. It eliminates/reduces the annoying "page too large" message. Netfront is by far the best browser I have seen on PDAs, and I can browse virtually any web site. Make sure you download all the updates. The keyboard is not that useful for typing documents, but it is great for small things. ADVANTAGES: larger screen, lots of buttons, lots of extra goodies like the media player controller, nice screen, and NICE LOOKING PDA. Tilt screen feature is the best. DISADVANTAGES: long format is not the best for business only purposes. MS is expensive. CAMERA? Why? Buy a real digital camera. I can't see how useful it will be to have a digital camera in a phone or PDA unless you have a special use for it (like inventory, etc).

Great PDA, specially for entertainment
I love this PDA. I had a Handspring Visor which was great, but it was time to upgrade to color and the latest OS. I decided for this PDA as it has the bigger screen that is used fully for writting documents and other things. Palm OS5 supports the bigger screen, so you will be seeing more programs for it. I use the MP3 player a lot. You can use Memory Stick Pro (256MB and higher) memory with a patch, and there is someone making a driver to use compact flash memory. You will not regret buying this PDA. My decisions: Windows? Hell no! I see too many people using the reset button too often, and that is to be expected from MS. Palm? Very stable and lots of apps. Never ever had a problem with it. Larger Clie versus smaller PDAs like the Tungsten T? I wanted also a PDA for browsing the internet via wireless lan (any Palm OS5 PDA can do it) but I like the larger screen for browsing. The other extras are nice too. For me, smaller PDAs are better for business use only.

Sony Clie Rocks!
Between this PDA and the Palm Tungsten T, I chose this PDA for the larger screen. The most useful features: voice recording, MP3 player and the core Palm organization applications.

A few comments
I just had a few comments, mainly on the screen and interface. With the advent of the PEG NR70, 70V, and NX60 models, the Palm platform now has a drop-dead gorgeous screen that competes with the Pocket PC's. The partially back-reflective TFT screens are just as readable in sunlight as indoors. And the 240 x 320 screen resolution is the same as the Pocket PCs. The other thing I liked was the new GUI interface on these three Palms that allows you to display the menu items like Hotsync, Memo Pad, Prefs, and so on, in a different format from the previous program manager and to use the jog-wheel button to move quickly up and down and to select the one you're interested in. This seems to require the larger screen on these Palms and the other Sony color models such as the SJ30, SJ22, and the PEG T655 and T665 don't have it, probably because it wouldn't fit. Although I like the compact Palm Tungsten, with its built-in Bluetooth technology, I don't really need that and would rather not pay the extra money for it, which doubles the cost over the same-sized Sony SJ30 and SJ22 models. More useful for the price is the jog-wheel feature and the "back" button on the NX60 and the other Sony models, which the Palms don't have. This makes the Sonys almost completely capable of one-handed operation, which is very convenient and is another indication of Sony's commitment to creating innovative Palm platform models. Overall, another great Palm platform offering from Sony.

Great features for the money
Looking to replace my Handspring Visor Deluxe, I found myself trying to decide between the Tungsten T and the NX60. Like the previous reviewer said, the NX60 is being discontinued and great deals can be had. I also purchased mine at CompUSA. What lead me to choose the NX60 over the Tungsten T was screen size, price and Sony's reputation for designing Palm OS units. The only thing that concerned me in choosing the Sony over the Palm was Sony's tarnished reputation for customer service that I've heard other people report about. Hopefully I won't need customer service. I've only had my NX60 for a short time, but I'm enjoying it.

Great unit for the price
I've heard rumors that that Sony will soon be discontinuing this unit and just stick with the NX70v. That's too bad, because this unit is a great value if you don't want the digital camera. But the great news is that the price on these units will be dropping like a brick as retailers start to liquidate their stock. That's how I bought mine at CompUSA. Now for the review: Great unit. As a longtime Palm OS user I can say this unit is built with great quality. Give yourself a good weekend to get adjusted and transfer your data, MP3s, pics, to the memory stick, which is a must-have add-on. If you think you'll miss the camera, don't get this unit -- you'll just regret it. But if you don't care to take pictures with your PDA, this unit is for you. By the way, the keyboard is marginal, but better than any other built-in-PDA keyboard out there...but the dynamic "Silk-Screen" graffitti area is awesome.
