| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Envision Monitors Suck! Just got off the phone with Envision because my second 19" flat screen went black on me. I had bought the original one about 3 years ago and a little before a year, the power went dead on it. I had to send it to California with RMA #, etc...It cost me another $50 after paying $300 just to ship it! It took some time but they ended up sending me a new one. So here I am again, about 2 years later, and this monitors screen goes black. I send my complaints to customer service and all they want to know is if my warranty is still good. Being unsatisfied, I ask for upper management and they start giving me the run around!?? I finally get someone on the phone after playing phone tag for over a week and they say since my warranty is expired(which it barely did), the best they could do is offer a 15% discount to fix it. Oh yeah, they also told me how much it would cost to fix it....over $100 plus another $50 for shipping that 50lb. monster!! I can't believe these guys are still around...I mean take a look at all the other 1 star negative reviews about envision from this site and you'll see i'm not exaggerating. Please, DON'T BUY ENVISION MONITORS!! YOU'LL BE REGRETTING IT LIKE ALL THESE OTHER PEOPLE!! | 1 | Today | Do not buy. One of the features is "1,600 x 1,200 maximum resolution at 75 Hz" - if I try to go above 1024x768 the monitor starts making noises and lines go up and down the screen - it sounds like a bomb in an action movie or something. I tried 1280x1024 at 60Hz refresh and it still didn't work. I've tried everything and nothing works. | 1 | Today | DO NOT BUY!! When I first saw the size of this monitor and the price tag, I knew it was not top quality, but I was willing to take a chance. And now I regret it. After only a few months use, the VGA cord would lose it's signal to the computer. I have to wiggle the cord so that the losely connected wires would send the signal again. This happens about once an hour, or whenever the cord "happens" to move, thereby losing it's connection. It is so annoying. Once in a while I get an error message on the screen saying that the refresh rate is out of range. This is not a problem with my computer, because I have tested it on three different computers (2 HP's and 1 Sony). Buyer beware on this one. I will never buy Envision again. | 1 | Today | Best Monitor I have ever owned. I just bought this monitor, it worked great out of the box, it worked so great that I didn't even need to make any adjustments to the image at all, it came out of the box, perfect, and totally dialed in. Every other monitor I have purchased I have had to mess with the contrast, brightness, scaling, or something. It was kinda freaky, almost like they had read my mind or something. The picture is crystal clear, the footprint is relatively small, and the weight seemed to be reasonable for the size. Overall, I am overjoyed with this monitor, and will continue to buy Envision monitors. | 5 | Today | DISTORTION!! I got the Envision 910e 19" monitor a week ago. Today I am packing it up and taking it back. Can't get rid of the picture distortion no matter how I adjust it. If you are sensitive to screen distortion I'd recommend spending a bit more, this sort of thing really bothers me. | 1 | Today | Great Monitor at a Bargain Price! This monitor is a great buy. I loved it the moment I brought it home, its so light! At 44 pounds its the lightest CRT I've ever carried (the heaviest being 65 pounds a backbreaker). The clarity it has is pro quality in my point of view and the text is super sharp at 1024x768 and lower, it becomes a little fuzzy at higher resolutions. The only real problem I had was the picture was a little off in the right corner other than that its a bang for your buck. Brightness at 70 seems to be great and contrast at 100. | 5 | Today | A lot of bang for the buck - BIG, clear & bright! Since my old Sony CPD-200sx is on its flickering, dim way out, it was time to replace it. It had been a workhorse, accompanying us in several moves since we bought it in 1996. Our main concern at this point was cost since almost any monitor out now would meet or exceed the quality of our six-year-old original.
In the end, price won out ... The Envision's long, three-year parts and labor warranty appealed to us as well. With technology's prices plummeting as they are, it doesn't pay to spend big bucks on something like a monitor, not when it's liable to cost only half as much in a year's time. And I sure wouldn't buy an extended service agreement on one!
In comparing these monitors side-by-side at the store, I found the display on the standard CRT much brighter and clearer than that of the same monitor boasting a flat-screen display. The .25mm dot pitch is comparable to several like-priced units available; and the display menu is easy to use and offers a lot of customization, including color temperature choices.
Once I got it home, it set up easily and blew me away with its quality. The text is ultra-crisp and the colors are terrific; I have the bright set at 70 and the contrast to 100 and it seems perfect. I'm very pleased with this monitor!
Edited 5/2/2006: Its display began dimming about a year ago, I believe. I got what I paid for. I still have it, but just keep it for when I do work on peoples' computers in my home. I use a notebook computer for my PC now. | 4 | Today | Avoid This Monitor I bought this monitor in January of this year (2002) at a well known office supply chain. Two days ago (July 16, 2002) when I went to turn it on, there were grey streaks all across the screen. I asked the office supply chain what they could do to help me; their reply was absolutely nothing. They told me I had to ship this heavy monitor back to Envision (whose phone mail system leads you nowhere). When I called Envision, I got a run-around. They wouldn't even tell me where to return the monitor! I had to go online first and fill our an RMA form. They told me that after the form was filled out there would appear a list of repair locations; I filled out the form, but no locations appeared. This company and its monitors are a complete waste. What good is the three-year warranty if it's such a hassle to get a repair. I'm going to throw this out in the trash, and buy a name brand I can trust. Not only is the monitor no good, but the company won't even stand behind it's warranty. | 1 | Today | Good performance for the price I was on a budget when I bought this monitor, and though it isn't nearly the best 19" out there, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it performs. For the price, you get very good picture quality. For those on a budget and looking to move up from a 17" monitor, give this one a look. My only gripe would be that the screen reresh rate could be higher, but it is quite adequate. Other than that, I give it 4 stars. | 4 | Today | Good monitor for the money This is a good monitor for the money. Color is very good, controls are easy to use. The only negative I have with this monitor is a little focus degeneration on the top and bottom, other than that I rate this at a 4+. I would not hesitate to buy another one. It is a nice upgrade from the 17" Cybervision I have been using although the 17" is still being used on my second pc. I would have bought another Cybervision if they were availible locally. | 4 | Today |
