| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Old old version of Paint Shop I got this for about $10 from one of the amazon partner sites in order to do a few templates for my second life avatar. It was a cheap alternative to Photoshop which most templates are written for. It did open the robin wood templates and after much trial and error I was able to make several tshirts that fit my avi pretty well. | 3 | Today | Excellent software I've been using this product for years and is everything I need in a graphical picture application. The controls are very intuitive and allow all the function I need. Even at 10 years old this software is still one of the best around. I won't go into technical details as they can be reviewed all over the internet. | 5 | Today | Excellent program! I've thoroughly enjoyed Paintshop Pro 7.0. I hear that Jasc no longer owns PS Pro and the new version isn't as good at 7.0. I just LOVE the way I can do anything Photoshop does in about 1/10th the time and better output. While my friends are searching for plugins and arguing about what techniques to use, my Paintshop Pro comes fully loaded and does so much with a few simple clicks. Everyone just assumes I'm a Photoshop expert but my secret is Paintshop Pro! Even if you're new to graphics & photo editing give it a shot... it's EASY and professional! Just think of all the money you'll save over Photoshop! | 5 | Today | Best Software Money Can Buy This software is incredible. If you are interested in editing graphics this will get the job done. I use it on the job all the time, eventhough we have the latest copy of Adobe Photoshop. Yes, Paintshop Pro is that good. | 5 | Today | Absolutely Wonderful I first bought the Paint Shop Pro 7, The anniversary Edition and this is the best investment I ever made since I bought my PC... I loved it so much, I had to also try Paint Shop Pro 8... And I love it also... I have both and do everything with my programs from Jasc... I want to say, Keep up the great work here and keep them coming with new ideas... I tried to send the sight for my friend to order The Paint Shop Pro 7 Anniversary Edition, And I see it isn't available anymore? Is it possible to still get it?This is a wonderful program and easy for learning... I wish it was still available to buy... There is so much fun in learning all it can do... Thanks, Diana* | 5 | Today | clunky and horrible to use I bought this as I have used the free version for years. The interface is so clunky, it's beyond even trying. There is no option for free hand drawing. And, it doens't remember which directories I've saved vs opened from. I find myself clicking so much between the 2 that I just hate it and it's time consuming. I actually reinstalled the free version and am using that again. Next time, I will buy something else! This was a HUGE waste of money!!! | 1 | Today | Great Graphics Software! I have both PSP 7 and Photoshop Elements and I far prefer PSP 7. However, both programs have their limitations, so I do occasionally switch back and forth between the two. I love to make banners in PSP. It's a piece of cake, especially after you figure out how to make your own tubes. Plus, PSP 7 comes with animation shop that alows you to make your own web animations. I have used Adobe Photoshop Deluxe as well (which they replaced with Photoshop Elements), but for making graphics and animations, PSP is far better. However, I do prefer Adobe Photoshop Deluxe (NOT Elements) for photo editing. | 4 | Today | Horrible Interface There's an old adage about software: 1. Cheap 2. Powerful 3. Easy to use Pick any two. :-) With PSP 7.0 you get 1 & 2. The interface is so clunky that I went quickly looking for something easier to use. Just trying to do something simple, like draw a button with some text on it, is very frustrating (I gave up after two hours). Trying to make a gif transparent is also baffling at times, meaning sometimes it works -- and sometimes it doesn't. And the 3rd party tutorials out there are of little help, at least the ones that I've seen. PSP does pack some powerful features, however. And some of these are surprisingly easy to use, e.g., the Enhance Photo options. Rotating images is a snap to use too. If you have a good PSP teacher standing by, this would be a great program to buy. But unless you've had some experience with other graphics programs you won't get very far on your own trying to learn this one. | 2 | Today | PAINT SHOP 7 A DREAM I HAVE NEVER HAD SO MUCH FUN ON THIS PROGRAM. NOR DID THE TIME FLY SO FAST. YOU'LL LOVE THE EFFECTS THAT YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR PHOTOS. THE PAINTINGS THAT YOU CAN MAKE, ARE BEAUTIFUL. I LOVED IT SO MUCH I JUST GOT THE NEW VERSION PAINT SHOP 8. YOU WON'T BE SORRY THAT YOU GOT THIS PRODUCT. ITS WORTH THE MONEY IN FUN ALONE. THANK YOU, BARBARA WARD | 5 | Today | Excellent program for the price I had used Photoshop for several years when I bought Paint Shop Pro. Maybe I should say "spoiled" by Photoshop because I might as well say right away that this product does not beat Photoshop. You can do more of almost everything with Photoshop, and Photoshop is even marginally easier to use. ...My old employer bought Photoshop for me; Paint Shop Pro I had to buy on my own. Paint Shop Pro provides at least 90% of what Photoshop does for 1/10 the price. Some of the other reviews mention that Paint Shop Pro is hard to use. I will agree that Photoshop is slightly easier to use, even if you have never used Photoshop before. But from what I can tell, most of the "hard to use" reviews are from people who have just barely mastered Microsoft Paint. That is not the proper comparison to make - Microsoft Paint has about 10% of the capability of Paint Shop Pro. You can't expect a Ferrari to drive as easily as a Chevy Cavalier. And, for its power, Paint Shop Pro is pretty easy to use. A few things could have been done better; for example, it's hard to create a selection to a specific pixel size. On the other hand, the integrated raster/vector graphics is done quite well, and after a bit of practice I don't find myself hardly missing the fixed size selection areas at all. Plus, it has a nice exporting capability, making it very easy (even easier than Photoshop) to create JPEG or GIF web graphics. The best feature, however, is its power-to-price ratio. 90% of Photoshop's power for 10% of its price is a pretty awesome accomplishment. If you have to pay for it yourself, go for it. | 5 | Today |
