I purchased this trackball as my existing Microsoft Trackball Explorer was aging and I needed another finger operated trackball - thumb operated units caused pain after extended use. I was concerned that the button placement would be uncomfortable however I have found this not to be the case, using the trackball is very natural and I have not experienced any pain during extended use. The ball rolls very smoothly and the smaller inset auxiliary buttons (default to Back on left and universal scroll on the right) work well. | 4 | Today | nice trackball, great price
I've been a fan of mouseless computing for decades. I use a Kensington at work and MacAlly (not made anymore) at home. Smooth and accurate, I'd still like to see more flexible programming of the buttons. I mostly use 3 options, single click, double click, and right click, and I can't get all three on this unit. My gaming scores have gone up thanks to smooth response on the ball. Great for medium to small hands.
Amazon's usual prompt and easy delivery was a big plus as well.

I'm a long time (since these were originally introduced in the 1990s) user of the Marble Mouse and hands-down, it beats any mouse or trackball I've ever used.
The fingertip control means no need to move the mouse or your wrist, cutting down on the risk of repetitive motion injuries and saving desktop space (important if you use a desk like mine that has next to no space for a mouse). Action is smooth and the buttons hold up for years--I replace mine on average of around 5 years or so (this will be my 3rd). Cleaning out the socket is easier than a standard mouse as you have full access to all the hardpoints and electronic eye inside, ensuring you get every bit of dirt out when it comes time to clean it.
While I'm not a heavy-duty gamer, I have used this a lot with a wide variety of games and in fact find it wholly invaluable for 1st-person shooters (currently playing Fable: TLC and the smooth movement and lack of need to pick it up and move it back makes fight sequences much smoother). If there's one complaint it's that there is no mousewheel function (which some games make use of) nor any 3rd mouse button; but these are relatively minor complaints for all it's good points.
The two added navigation buttons, to be honest, I almost never use so I can't comment on them. I typically use this without the installed Logitech software; I did at one point but the added features did little for me, so I mostly use it as a standard PS/2 mouse.
All in all, you can't go wrong with this one, and I highly recommend it for casual, business and gamer uses alike.

I have purchased this mouse for every computer I use on a regular basis. I have arthritis in both hands and tendonitis in my right arm, and use of a regular mouse is impossible for me. I can use this mouse with either hand, though it does function differently from a regular mouse and takes some getting used to. This mouse is great! It is definitely different from using a regular mouse, but I found it very easy to use, right out of the box. Maybe because I'd read so many reviews here, and been told by someone familiar with the mouse that it was tricky, so I was ready for it. But, I love how it operates - I find it comfortable in my hand, I love not having to pick the mouse up and move it. That makes it easier to work in a tight space, especially when my kids want me to sit in their beds and work while they fall asleep. No more carting a mouse pad and mouse all over the house along with the computer and trying to find space to set it up. I can park this mouse anywhere and it just works - the grips on the bottom keep it from sliding off my laptop desk, too, when it is at an angle. | 5 | Today | trackball
