| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Awesome SaddleBag Carring Case ! I was looking for a carrying case for my Dell 17" M1730 Laptop. I have a work carrying case that is large with wheels and a telesoping handle on it for pulling. I have everything in it that I need. This is OK when when I'm transversing from my office to another downtown building, for working remotley. But I was looking for a laptop bag that I could easily tote my laptop home in. Something not to bulky and to be able to carry it with ease to coffee shops or the library and such places. I looked at alot of carrying cases. Everything from backpacks and regular brief case types but nothing really hit the mark. I came across the Kensington Saddle Bag and LOVE IT! Although rated for a 15" laptop it accommodates my 17" Dell M1730 Laptop. The SaddleBag has a messenger strap that I use for over the shoulder carrying, but also has nice fold away backpack straps if needing to carry long distances. Nice padding for the laptop compartment. The SaddleBag Style has plenty of room to place my Laptop, Power Pack, Notebook Binder, Folders etc. in. Also it has a great design of outer pockets to stuff any other accesories into it. I use the outer pocket to put in my Business Cards, Pens, Mouse, USB Carrying Case and AirCard in (Also has a Key Hook). The outer flap pocket holds my Cell Phone and Ipod for easy access. The handle has a great tactile antishock feel. The construction is very well made and has a waterproof type material on the bottom of the bag. Although the SaddleBag is roomy, the bag itself is not bulky and can be carried into coffee shops and the like with ease. My expectations are to get years of usage from this SaddleBag. Purchasing it from Amazon was a great experience with a great product price and Free Shipping to boot. Placed order over the internet. Received e-mail confirmation of purchase, received shipping tracking information and received product with out a hitch. Will do business with Amazon again. If you purchase this Kensington 64079 SaddleBag Case. I beleive you will have no regrets on your purchase. | 5 | Today | Pretty Good Bag I just emailed Kensington to get a 2nd replacement strap - the original strap and a 1st replacement tore at midpoint. So while I was checking out the model number on Amazon I thought I'd give my two cents.
I've had this bag for close to 10 years. My first 8 years it carried my laptop and cabling tools, etc every day at work so I put it through some real tough times. I've always had real heavy loads in so I won't dock my 5 start rating because it's been my pack mule. When it got real heavy I used the two backstraps and carried it like a knapsack and it was comfortable. Most of the time I used the single sling and it's comfortable. Now that I'm retired I don't carry as much so sometimes I just grab it by the foam handle and it's a good grip. I thought it was a little expensive before I bought it but I'm glad I did as it is a quality bag, lasted a long time, and still looks pretty good. It's also real light empty - surprising for the beating it can take.
Kensington replaced the first two straps with no problem so it's nice to see them stand behind their product. | 5 | Today | Great bag. I have 4 of them! This is by far my favorite laptop bag. I bought my first Kensington Saddlebag back in 2000 or '01 and have put over 100,000 flight miles on it before it developed a rip in the side. Kensington replaced it for FREE under the lifetime warranty in late 2007. I've also bought 3 more of these bags for laptops at my company and all of my employees love them, too. They even bought the same bags for their personal computers. That's a true testimony.
I love the small front flap pocket, perfectly sized for a boarding pass. The zippered flap packet holds my ear buds and my keys, wallet, belt, etc as I go through TSA. The little inside pockets hold all of the odds and ends that go with the laptop (remote, Ethernet cable, business cards, pens) while the main compartment easily holds magazines, DVD's, newspapers, an extra HD, and my AC adapter! If I'm really punishing the bag, I've even been known to carry a 2nd laptop in the middle compartment, too. The bag gets way heavy, then, but it's never given out! | 5 | Today | So far so good I needed a new computer bag to take with me on trips and purchased this Kensington case. All I have to say is so far so good. It is easy to take along with a rolling bag to the airport. It doesn't slow me up through airport security and it stores right under the seat on the airplane. | 5 | Today | Well constructed, solid bag for very little money! As a journalist, I needed a bag that was durable, lightweight, and most importantly, could carry all my stuff around on my multiple cross country trips. The fact that the Saddlebag was so cheap was a definite bonus.
I'm tremendously impressed by how well it displaces the weight on your shoulder so that you dont get fatigued, and the compartments inside are huge and really well padded. Unless you have $300-$400 to spend on a laptop case, I'd go with the Saddlebag over anything else. | 5 | Today | Rugged enough for constant use I've travelled nearly 250,000 miles with my laptops, papers, accessories, etc in one of these, and it's proven itself up to the task. The front pocket is useful for storing business cards, O'Reilly pocket guides, passport(s), tickets, etc. for easy access. The large main pocket has a padded space for a laptop (my Dell fits it either way around) and on my model has 4 dividers that are useful for keeping CD cases and cables disentangled. The shoulder straps / backpack straps can be detached and/or hidden inside the case for a more professional look (though if I needed to care more about presentation I would probably have a regualar briefcase) After 2 1/2 years of constant use the padding in the shoulder straps is starting to become compressed, and there are some tears on the vinyl inside, but give how much use I've made of this backpack this is probably normal wear and tear. | 4 | Today | Great bag! There are two versions, though. This is by far the most convenient, comfortable bag in the universe. I've carried it as a backpack, carried it over the shoulder, and also held it by the wonderfully padded handle. My school gave me a backpack bag for free, but I just can't tear myself away from my Saddlebag! The downside is that there seem to be different versions (besides the colors). I bought one for my wife and after looking at it, I just had to get one for myself, too (and so did her partner, who says that he smiles every time he uses it). Mine gave me a little trouble, though. Within a few weeks, something weird happened with the zipper in the front (the leatherette tag came off and there were two broken prongs sticking out). This might have been my fault--I might have snagged it on something. Then the handle started getting a little "lumpy." I called Kensington and they offered to replace it under the lifetime warranty. They will send one to me and then I can send them the old one (only paying postage one way). They confirmed that the bag was redesigned some months ago but the same product number was carried over. The list price was also reduced significantly, the suede bottom was replaced with rugged vinyl, and some file dividers were eliminated in the redesign process, but I don't think the quality difference is anything to be concerned about. I looked carefully at the handle and it seems that a component has shifted to the side, making it lumpy. It might be possible to shift it back without too much trouble, but because they are replacing it, I'm reluctant to mess with it. As a result of their great service, I've just bought one for my daughter as she heads off to college. | 5 | Today | The perfect carrying case! Sling it over the shoulder, pack it on you back, or carry it with one hand. This computer case, not only offers three confortable ways to carry it, but also several compartments to store everything you'll need to carry with your laptop. The laptop compartment is well padded, guaranteeing added protection to you laptop (The felt that covers the inside of the compartment is thin; however, I have this carrying case for over an year, and it is still like new inside and out.) This carrying case is perfect for transporting any laptop safely and comfortably. | 5 | Today | Great design, but "fragile" I bought this product because I'm impressed with the feature it has, and as a customer support engineer I need the computer case that has a professional look at the customer place but should be comfortable enough to carry on the street. Most of the time I carry it as a backpack. But it's not tough as it should be. It last only 1 month and the inner side between the padded computer compartment began to tear. Because it has a lifetime warranty, I went back to the shop and got a new one. After a month plus the inner side (I will say it as a weakness) starting to tear again and then I will go back to the shop to replace it. | 2 | Today |
