Works well with XP. 5 Today Small price, but unbelievable value All the Office programs you need (MS Word and Excel compatible) and then some... from zip to barcode to images. Excellent value. 5 Today Unbelievable value! I was given this as a gift from a friend for use on my home computer and for the kids to use in their school work. We have MS Office at work which I am very familiar with. This software is actually BETTER! While it doesn't have 100% of Microsoft's features, it has most of them, and then some that Microsoft doesn't have(like PDF file creation, a full zip program, a FAX program, and on and on). In Advanced Mode it should be very easy for a Microsoft user to use, but in EasyMode it is unbelievably easy for a child or a new computer user to use. Even to do hard stuff like produce a spreadsheet!! Ignore the price. Ignore the '2001' (programs seem to be 2002 edition actually in the box, and they give you 2 years of upgrades free). We have a small business and I hoped to use the Word and Office products to get me up and running. Bought Books--hired a tutor--still too much to cope with. Read the reviews on Easy Office and thought 'why not'. It comes in a box with just the CD--no book. It looked like big trouble ahead! Boy, was I wrong. The Tutorial comes right up before you start anything. You know what to look for in advance and the 'Help' really does just that--tells you what to do and how to do it in plain language. This product is the BEST!!!!!!! 5 Today switch to french dictionary worked well ...Continuing previous message... I just tried switching from American English to Canadian French dictionary -- worked well. If I type in 'Hello' I get a typo, but system accepts 'bonjour' as correctly spelled now. (On NEC Ready150, 32MB RAM, Windows95). 4 Today Pretty decent even on Windows 95 I've been using for a month on NEC Ready 150 (Windows 95), actually mainly the Word and Contact Lists, and it's been pretty reliable so far. You are prompted to turn off the tutorial, which I would guess most people do. I find the text-speech ok, but there's suppose to be a free upgrade to next version with voice recognition, which is what I was checking for just now. 4 Today Easy office does not support Windows 95 I installed this product on a pc running Windows 95 Release 1.0 Easy Word does not work, neither does Contact Manager due to the assumption that the user is running at least Windows 98 Release 1.0 if not ME, you get an error message that tells you precisely why it will not work under 95, in that 95 does not support the "My Documents" special folder. OK, I then installed the programme on Windows 98 SE. Here are my findings: You quickly tire of the help window popping up every time you start the programme even in advanced mode, which settings do not appear to be remembered. In addition, if you get a typo and then right click to add the word (using a standard method of invoking pop up menus) you get three huge and hideous toolbars which cannot be edited or customised, and certainly should not appear in this style if the advanced mode is selected. The installer places icons on the desktop and enforces an automatic reboot. It is not clear why a reboot is required, I guess this is due to the installation of the MS Text To Speech Engine. The suite does require a later version of Internet Explorer, so if you get this programme from download it will take you a long long time (the trial version is about 26MB). The spellchecker acts unpredictably, using the clipboard I pasted in some text and the speller went mad trying to load *.tlx modules for french, german and spanish dictionaries which are not installed. The general feel of the application is a nice try but not quite there. If it was freeware or at least better designed in terms of the layout - I assume that any pc user will eventually prefer the advanced mode - then I would use it. The only thing I liked was the Text Reader and ... is a lot to pay for having your computer read text out like the one on Star Trek. RC 1 Today Really good. I've been using it for about a month now. Not only easy, but quite complete and reliable. Everything is explained and everything works the way it says it does. 5 Today No Learning Time Required! I was amazed at how quickly I was able to use this program effectively. I had tried many other programs and got bogged down trying to complete simple tasks. I am thoroughly impressed and delighted with this easy to use, no learning time software package and would recommend it to any first time or advanced user.
