These are OK when new, but after a while they suddenly fail and then are only good for a few shots. This often happens if you leave them in the charger too long, but it is not convenient watching the charger for 2 hours to see when it is done. All 3 I have bought have failed in this way. It seems that there is a diode inside that fails allowing the charge to leak out throught the center contact. When this happens, just stick a piece of duct tape over the center contact before you put it in the camera and it is as good as new. Remove the duct tape to recharge it. | 3 | Today | Not long lived
Contrary to the product review, this battery pack does not have a long life. The only reason I'm buying a new one is because it's what my camera uses. If I had known then what I know now about this battery pack, I wouldn't have bought the camera. | 1 | Today | Battery shot

I purchased a set of these batteries for my Powershot S20 and until recently they have been fantastic. I only charged them when they are completely dead and did not leave them on the charger for much longer than needed. But now after 2 years, they no longer hold their charge and I can only take about 5 photos before I get the low battery icon. At this price, I was hoping they would have lasted a lot longer. This battery pack, when new and when fully charged, will take around 200 pictures, taken rapid fire on an old PowerShot S10, until completely drained (it won't even playback pictures). That's enough to fill up one 128MB flash card at 1600 1200 resolution, medium compression. I was very surprised. I inherited this camera and immediately got a new battery pack; and realized that this camera is not the power hog as I once thought--the previous owner seriously didn't take care of the batteries, and before I learned the intricacies of NiMH batteries, neither did I. To prolong your battery life, be sure to drain the battery completely before charging again. NiMH batteries capacities drop if you keep "topping it off" before a trip if it was only half drained. Also, do not leave your battery on the charger, especially if you have two batteries. I've done it, and I know. They become anemic and drop out after 4 or 5 shots. Just thought this piece of information would be useful. Canon would be thanked profusely if they released a Lithium Ion version (and charger) for this battery, so that we can avoid this battery conditioning nonsense and "top-off" whenever we like! | 4 | Today | Canon S10 Digital Camera

In reading other reviews it seems some have been having problem with their batteries holding charge. Mine works really well and holds a charge well, but I do make sure it's fully discharged before I charge it. Not sure if the manufacturer recommends that, but I do it anyway. I've had it for a year now and it still works like new. Also, for Canon S10 users, there is a firmware upgrade that really improved my night shots, shutter speed, and flash color balance. Search the net and you can find it to download and directions on how to install. It's a snap to do. | 5 | Today |
