| Review | Rating | Last Updated | So addicting... This is a terribly addicting game, trying to get through all the scenarios, tournaments, Tiger challenges, and so forth. I've been playing this non-stop for a month. There is plenty on here to keep you busy for quite a while. Two pet peeves: 1)the extra animations of hitting the ball and the 'heart-beat' of hitting a great shot gets old very quickly, and there is no way to turn it off. You can turn off the controller vibration, but the animation continues, which really slows down the game. 2)this game is too easy. I understand the appeal of being able to regularly shoot in the 50s; but sometimes it gets tiresome. I suppose the best way to play this game is to use characters without all the high ability, to turn off the spin control, and to crank up the wind. But even when I do that, I can still regularly shoot under 60. | 4 | Today | good and bad While I have generally enjoyed this game, it's starting to drive me crazy. All of the extra animation and the "heart beating" that was mentioned in another review eventually grow tiresome. If you are fan of Golden Tee and are looking for something similar, DO NOT buy this game. All of the chuckleheads that designed this game should head down to their local bar, order up a pint, put $5 in the Golden Tee machine and see what a computer golf game should look like. | 2 | Today | Awesome Game! This is the best Golf game I've seen yet. I can't wait for 2004! The game has pretty good commentary. The Courses are terrific! This is one of my favorite games! | 5 | Today | Almost Perfect Golf Game Don't get me wrong. I love this game. It's fun to play and with any kind of wind it's even hard to compete. The only thing I don't like about the game is the advise you get from your caddy when you are putting. Most of the time it makes no sense to me. If I use the advise as stated I would never sink a putt. The instructions do not clearly explain how to read the screen for putts. If I could figure this out I would drop my score by several strokes. I guess the same can be said for my real golf agme. Drive for show, Putt for dough. | 5 | Today | Awesome I would like to start Jeffrey Hunter was being a negative nancy. Sure you come up short but, he doesn't pay attention because on stroke play you can choose the speed of your green, so maybe instead of having the game plot against you the greens are just set at slow and you are suppose to realize this after the third or fourth hole. or maybe you are out 140 yards and it is calm and you hit the ball at one hundred percent and the club was designed to go 140, maybe you held you back swing to long or maybe the shot was up hill. But i do own a playstation 2 but my friend with an xbox has this game and i try to go over to his house just to play this game once a week. this game is by far one of the best golf games ever created. it is addicting. Sure maybe the game causes you to lip out a putt or two but i dont' think it screws up the whole game just to make you lose. | 5 | Today | You Will NOT Find a Better Golf Game Gimme a break. Those of you with complaints (Jeremy), you say this game is so unrealistic and that its way too easy to beat your opponent, then you say how tough it is to judge distances when putting? Come on. First of all, if you had any common sense, you could judge the distances by the width of the cup. Since a cup is about 4.25 inches in diameter, you can use that to measure other distances. And of course on longer puts its gonna be harder to judge...if it werent, people (in the game and real life), would be sinking 50ft putts as easy as they do 3ft putts. Bottom line, this is the most realistic golf game ever. Instead of the traditional 3-click method of swinging (where there is a meter that fills), you get a real analog swing. You actually pull back on the joystick until you get to the top of the swing, then you follow through. If you dont do it straight, you will slice or hook. As for you not being able to judge your power, you have to just guess (like real golf). Please, if you are going to complain about a game, get your story straight. Either you like it because its realistic, or you dislike it because its unrealistic. Dont make contradictory points. This game will blow you out of the water. With better graphics than any other golf game made, better players, most realistic play and graphics, sounds, and some great (non-realistic) effects, you will be amazed and happy you bought it (unless you have some complaints that you cant win because you're not good enough, or that its too easy). Just remember, ITS A GAME...and the best one at that. | 5 | Today | Excellent This is a very addictive and excellent title for the xbox. The gameplay is phenomenal and the course selection is a blast. I love the 3 newly designed courses. My only beef with this game is that it is way too easy. After completing the Tiger Challenge, the tournaments are breeze and you will be shooting in the 50s almost every round. Sure you can turn off the automatic spin and the power drives, but this game should not permit someone to drive the ball 400 yards and be on every par 4 green in 1 shot. Despite the fact that this game is easy, it only got that way after several hours of gameplay. It was well worth the effort and the [money]. EA Sports did an excellent job with this title and I look forward to next year's version. I would love to see additional courses and a little harder Tiger Challenge. Thanks EA Sports. | 5 | Today | challenging, but... It's fun and it's challenging, but unfortunately too much of that "challenge" is due to some really annoying design flaws. As mentioned in an earlier review, the "caddie" feature is useless. It's so bad that EA really should provide a new, fixed disk to everyone who bought it. Can't imagine how they let it get through testing that way. And there are also certain holes where the laws of physics get violated. Most of the time the effects of elevation are accurately reflected in the flight of the ball, but there are a number of cases where the outcome just doesn't make sense. You just have to remember "oh yeah, this is that hole where the ball consistently comes up 60 yards short" and use a different club. All in all, cool game, but could've been even better with a reasonable amount of testing | 4 | Today | ADDICTIVE AND FUN!!! This game is truly a game that is fun for the whole family. I enjoy the aspect that you know the percentage of the game that you have completed so that you have an idea of what it will take to completely MAX out the game. Great Job EA SPORTS!!! | 5 | Today | The funnest game I own I have been playing golf games since the b/w version of PGA Tour on a Mac Classic in the early nineties. I have been underwhelmed since then with various PC golf games until this one for the Xbox. It is a beautiful beautiful game with grass trees water all looking fantastic. I wish the trees were a bit better but oh well. Most importantly it feels more like golf than any game before and manages to allow you to choose from a serious game, tourny, or just fun tests of skill which always challenge. Plus it has some RPG elements with levelling up your "character" to get better. All in all I don't need to say any more. If you like golf games even a little get this one! | 5 | Today |
