| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Better than spending all your money at Dave and Busters. Like the arcade version, but u can either use a gun or controller and u still get to do two player,or co-op.People who like this game should definetly buy this game for the console, unless u don't have an Xbox. This is also a double pack, and u don't have to waste gas going to the arcade, and spending tons of money each time u die and want to play again.Buying this will definetly save u a lot of money. I have to say though this game has a lot of good extras u won't find in the arcade version, most of the great extras are on House of the Dead II,wich although has terrible graphics, voice acting, and dialogue surely makes up for it with it's boss mode and your choice of original or arcade modes. You have to beat House of the Dead 3 to get House of the Dead II.
This game honestly isn't that hard once u get the hang of it.This game only plays as a minor distraction though.
If your looking for a good time, but don't want to waste too much time, this is the game for u.
I recommend this for anyone who likes first person shooter zombie games.By the way if anyone reads this review can u tell me if u know if House of the Dead IV is coming out for any of the consoles.
Anyone who likes this will love the Half - Life 2 Games, and Resident Evil 4,both of wich I highly recommend for anyone who just likes video games in general.
Two more recommendations are Gears of War and Resistance Fall of Man.But if u don't have an Xbox 360 or PS3 and are trying to find one,all I have to say is good luck with that.
P.s. there coming out with a Gears of War 2 (awesome).
| 4 | Today | Good fun! Pretty fun game but with any point and shoot got old kinda fast. A good game to have gives you somthing to do when you buds are over. | 4 | Today | After a while you'll think it's a bad game, but you're wrong. I got this game about a year ago and I thought it was amazing. I once played it for 4 hours straight!!! But then I thought, "This game is scaring my sister, I already beat i 23,735,926 times, I'll gonna sell it." That was the stupidest descion I have ever made in my life realting to video gaming. A couple of days ago, I was at a restraunt playing Time Crisis 3, and I really REALLY wanted to play HOTD3 when I got home. So now, I'm going to buy it again. | 5 | Today | awsome zombie shooting fun this is by far the best xbox/360 game ever.
but why did i give 4 stars it's because it didn't have the "save the agents" sort of theme.
it won't give you nightmares but it is a little jumpy.
Contorl (with light gun) A+
sound A+
graphix A+
story A-
THIS IS A MUST HAVE! | 4 | Today | like a drug, you cant get enough of it this game is very adicting and loads of constant zombie blasting fun. with great graphics, easy controls, cool bosses, and a fast gameplay. yes this game is short but to bring the most fun out of this game beat it on easy so you can unlock house of the dead 2, than put difficulty on hard and go with the flow.
But what i was really hoping for was that they would make a house of the dead with a story mode, kinda like a free roam. i would have to say that this game is worth 20$, thats how much i got it for.
lol to the reviewer that said house of the dead 2 was better, beat house of the dead 3 and you will get your wish, freeeee house of the dead 2.
| 5 | Today | Not as good as HOTD 2!! House of the Dead 3 lets you shoot your way through zombies. you play as a woman who is looking for her father and a guy follows you too that doesnt even do anything to help you... The game is alright, but this game has quite a handful of pros and cons...
Pros: 1. Great graphics and creepy environments
2. cool and detailed zombies and weird bosses and creatures...
3. the game gives you enough credits to actually make it a bit easier to play so that if you die, you can easily come back...
4. Storyline is pretty good, not the best though...
5. Cool cutscenes
6. you can unlock HOTD 2 and play that on the game, pretty cool feature...
Cons: 1. aiming the gun can be quite difficult especially when you have a million zombies on your a$$
2. you only have one weapon the whole game which is the shotgun.
3. The guy that follows you doesnt even help you or anything yet he is in every cutscene and seems like he is not even with you. you have to help him from getting killed yet he doesnt do nothing for you.. i mean what the ****???
4. The game is very short, you can beat it in one night if you are quite good at those type games.
5. The last boss of the game is impossible to beat and it took me over (literally) 20 tries to beat it. It is hard, i repeat it is HARD!!!!
Basically, it is a diffcult game, a short one, but the difficultness makes up for it... Even though it has some flaws and cons, i still recommend it. it is quite cheap now anyway, so if you like these shoot em up games, i recommend you get house of the dead III... | 3 | Today | uuuuuuuu,chick,chick...BOOM,ow thet hurt! great graphics,a cool weapon although there is only one of them plus some really cool characters.pure zombie blasting fun!!! | 4 | Today | CAP CAPPA! Aside from netting a horrible movie, the House of the Dead series has always been a name that gamers can take some relief in hearing. The first one was an arcade classic, the sequel was one of the better early Dreamcast games, its own parody: Typing of the Dead, was a masterpiece in its own right and a great use for the normally under used DC Keyboard, and now, HotD3 relives the glory that the first two had. Though, it barely gets any recognition. I only know of one other gamer that mentions this game when talking about their Xbox game collections. Part of that reason may be because the light gun genre is almost extinct (the last big hit being the Silent Scope series), and part of it may be that this was part of the early Xbox lineup, where most gamers were still unsure of if they should give Microsoft a chance or not. And while I may be late to the party, picking up my Xbox just 2 years ago, and the game now, I can say that this would've been one of the games to make me get the system before I did.
If you've never walked into an arcade/heard of House of the Dead, you don't know what you've been missing. It's a first person rail shooter, and all you do is blast zombies. There's little plot to care about, and that's ok- the series never had a good plot to back it up. On top of it, you get some of the worst voice acting in the history of games, almost rivaling the original release of Resident Evil. 'doesn't sound like much fun, but when you realize how much shooting there is to do, you'll be hooked. Each level has you shoot zombies. That's it. There's nothing more to the gameplay. Once in a while, you'll have to shoot zombies away from your partner, and that'll be the most diversity to be found here. But it's all fun. Shooting zombies in the head, then taking out their knees and ending it with removing their arms won't get old no matter how many times I play through the game. And there's a good Marty of the undead to shoot. Skinny ones, fat ones, ninja ones (don't ask), police, inmates, vultures, leeches, plants, and even a sloth. I know, I didn't believe it either, but one level's boss is a giant zombie sloth that has the power to vibrate and thrust its pelvis against walls, knocking bodies from the ceiling. It's as traumatizing as it sounds, and I make it my duty to face him first. During the course of gameplay, you take a limited number of hits before using a continue. This can be altered from the options screen, but I wouldn't reccomend it unless you're having a lot of trouble, like laughing too much at the sloth, and resulting in it killing you. Sadly, you can breeze through the game in 40 minutes or so. There's the introductory level, three more that you can choose between, but must all be completed, and then the final level. And let me tell ya- the final level is weird. This isn't ruining much, but the plot that accompanies the final boss doesn't make much sense, nor does the boss itself. I'm almost worried for Sega at this point, as they're really re-using their Dural model. What's worse, he barely poses a challenge if you have enough lives left. I kept hoping that the sloth would come back and thrust his pelvis some more.
Once you complete the game, you unlock House of the Dead 2. Though it's a few years old, it's still pretty fun. I killed the game in its Typing of the Dead form for DC, but using the Xbox's light gun to cap more zombies here was still a treat. Though, the light gun's settings didn't work as well with 2 as it does 3's (read my review of the Mad Catz light gun for more info), it still proved a challenge. I especially liked the little mini-game that appears before you get to HotD2's title screen. It helps give you some bonuses. But if anything, this extra game serves as a little history lesson to show you how far graphics has come. HotD2 looks pretty terrible, especially to HotD3, which is beautiful in every way. Also unlockable is extra footage to the ending if you get better ranks on the levels: not much, but a nice addition. There's also an extra survival type mode included, but I rarely play that. It's all about the original Arcade action.
If you can't tell by what I've already said, HotD3 is gorgeous. One of the best looking Xbox games to this day even. Everything runs so smoothly that it's sick. Only other high-end graphic games like Panzer Dragoon Orta and Ninja Gaiden can compare to this thing. Not only do the zombie models look great, but the attention to detail in even backgrounds is impressive. Even better, the character models (the ones you play as), look just as good, despite only being seen in cut scenes most of the time. And never once did I experience slowdown either. As for the sound, there's not much aside from zombie grunts and gunshots. I think I remember techno music here and there, but I was too focused on busting caps, so excuse my lack of music comment. Again, the voice acting is laughable, but that's alright- the HotD series was never about dynamic characters of dramatic situations.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase of HotD3 and the light gun. I purchased both for under 50 bucks, and that's a steal for this much fun. Sure, the lack of real replay takes off a star, but that doesn't change the fact that this is fun. And you know what? Even if you don't purchase the gun, the Xbox's controller works just as well. In fact, you may have a better chance of surviving if you use it. It's almost like they made the game primarily for the controller, then threw the gun in just to try and sell a few of those things. If you're looking for a nice change from all the FPS and stealth games polluting the system, HotD3 is just what you need. | 4 | Today | A Good Time Waster (But Not In A Bad Way) I've noticed that this game really is a lot of fun and is something short and sweet to play when you have nothing else to do. At this low price, it's the best entertainment you could have. The graphics are fantastic, but the acting as always, is terrible. If you ever wanted to have the arcade brought home, this is it.
The coolest part is that you can unlock House of the Dead II after you beat #3. Both are very fun. Two games for $20 is a great buy, $10 a game. Get it! | 5 | Today | A must have for xbox owners! This game is AWESOME! It has great graphics, awesome story, but I have 1 thing... DO NOT LET A 5 YEAR OLD PLAY IT!!! They may want to play it but don`t let them. It is realllly violent and alot of blood and gore. Anyone about 10 and older, they could probaly play it. 1 more thing, It is really hard if you do not have the light gun. But even if you do, its still pretty hard. | 5 | Today |
