| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Great once you get used to it I bought 2. one for my wife. You need to get the right speakers with this if you want to blast it. It tends to blow up tweeters for some reason. Once you have the right speakers it cooks!! I hooked up a subwoofer to get the car to shake. The controls are hard for me because I have construction hands & fingers. I have to use my fingernail to adjust. (I just miss the old "turn" type knobs) The price is great for what you get./ don't buy from 'jungle' people, if there is a problem and you have to return it they will steal your money... | 4 | Today | Terrible Product! Do Not buy this CD/Tape Plaer Combo, it is truly a poorly designed/functioning product....Had one for about 4 years, it worked fine for the first year or so, but then in gradually got worse....would not read CD's at first just had problems with older CD's , then had problems reading self-burned CD's I made on my computer, then got so bad, it would not read (or even recognize) a brand new out of the package, store bought CD....Tape Player worked fine, but the Tuner was not real good either...All in All have to give this 1 star...(and that is being generous) | 1 | Today | impressive combo It's impressive that there is a car radio that can combine both the cd and cassette players in a package small and feature laden enough to fit in the space of a single media player | 4 | Today | FM reception sux! Impossible to see digital readout in daylight without shading it.The unit plays tapes & cd's great, sounds good with plenty of volume using quad 525 Kickers. It even has an rca plug-in for a sub + left & right speakers or amps.Sitting still fm rec.is good but as soon as you start driving stations farther away than 20 miles start fading in & out.But for that this would be an awsome unit for the $$.Really a lot of features in a one din. | 3 | Today | Does NOT Come With Remote! This Deck Does NOT Come With A Remote!
I've Talked To The Manufacturer Directly & It Seems It's A "Mistake"!
Still One Of The Best 1-Dins Out There Though.... | 2 | Today | Good audio, Single Din Cassette/CD, Lousy Display, Bad Docs Summary:
Audio: Above average
Features: Single DIN CD/Cassette is the single best feature
Usability: Pretty poor display, its a bigger deal than I thought
Installation, Docs, tech support: Poor
There are 5 things that I considered for a car stereo:
1. Audio Quality
2. Features
3. Usability
4. Installation and documentation
5. Warranty
For the audio quality, this player was above average. Good Bass even with small speakers, and fairly good clarity.
The most appealing feature in this unit is its single DIN form factor, with CD and cassette combined. This is a big deal, and I could find only a few players in the market today that offered this (Sanyo FXCD and EXCD, Legacy and Pyle). This is a major plus, and the most important reason why I chose this over all else. The price of this unit was also much lesser than a comparable Sanyo. That was the second reason that led me to this player.
However, usability section, I would have to rate this player below average. The screen is hardly visible in daylight, and its almost impossible to see when the day is very bright.
The FM reception is also not as good as other players that I have used in the past.
Regarding documentaiton and installation, I would rate this unit almost a 1. The documentation is really bad: Starting with the quality of paper. There is not what's included in this package list. For instance they included an install bracket, and had a picture of it in the installation, but the doc made it sound as if this is somethign that I need to buy. This bracket was also not very obviously packed, and I didn't find it till quite late, and I had already spent a lot of time looking for the bracket on the internet.
Unless you know how to install stereos, I wouldn't count on the docs to help with the install.
The tech support was also not very friendly.
Warranty is for 2 yrs. which is good, but you are expected to send $20 for return shipping each time and shipping needs to be paid for sending the unit in for service.
