I was really surprised with the price for this cassette player. I purchased this item at Best Buy about 2 years ago for 39.99. I would NOT pay 99.99 for this cassette player! | 3 | Today | You need this to listen to your public library's books on tape
What can I say? I MADE A MISTAKE AND RAN THIS THROUGH THE WASHER AND THE DRYER AND AFTER IT DRIED OUT IT STILL WORKED, EVEN THE HEADPHONES. Love this walkman! I think it has great mega bass. I did not like the headphones it came with, so luckily I have another excellent set Sony Model# MDR-CD180
The battery life lasts me atleast two months. ( I only listen to my walkman about three days a week for a couple hours each use.
I have not tried a cassette tape yet.
It does also tune in to my local tv channels (2-13) pretty good.
The weather not so good, to much static. But I bought this for music, not weather reports, so I'm happy with it. | 5 | Today | Okay while it lasted
I bought this in a bricks and mortar store, and wish I had come to Amazon and read reviews on it first. Especially for this price, this was very shoddy equipment. I had the same problems as other reviewers with securing the player. I listen to books on tape while I work around the house, and I had a terrible time keeping this player attached. Unlike another reviewer, I did NOT find that it survived drops well, and it was sporting duct tape very soon after I bought it. Two months later, it simply stopped playing tapes. No amount of new batteries, manipulation, or pleading would get it going again. Very, very disappointing. | 1 | Today | Perfect for me ...
No, it's not high fidelity. I bought it to listen to books on tape, and it's perfect for that. It's robust, and has outlasted many drops. I find the single battery does not need to be changed that often. The only wish was some other method of securement. I finally made my own snap-strap to hook to a belt loop. I tend to be tough on my tape players, since I wear them while cleaning, gardening, and woodworking. This one has stood up very well. | 5 | Today | Your just paying for the name !!!!
You would think that purchasing a SONY, that you would be getting a quality product, right? Well think again! Poor headphones, poor belt clip, hard to change the tape, NO auto reverse, battery life very short, poor sound quality! I found nothing about this Walkman worth praising. I would have rated it "0" stars if they had provided that option. Save your money and buy a different Brand.

I have had this product for 2 years and from the moment I put it on I was pleased. This is a quality product and I recommend as a walkman. | 4 | Today | Don't waste your time with this one...
Don't purchase this product. It's a waste of money. I'm still using it, but I wish I had the extra cash to get a different walkman. The case is bulky and heavy. The radio and tv tuners often produce static. The cassette player plays poorly and often reverses direction in the middle of playing a cassette. Also, sometimes, it plays cassettes slowly and not up to normal speed. Overall, I am disappointed with the quality of this product for such a high price. SONY has made some really poor electronic products lately, and I have stopped purchasing any of their electronic products. * With only one battery, the unit is underpowered.
* Even with the volume up to the highest setting, it is hard to hear the radio. Cassettes konk out in mid-play.
* The case is a pain to open.
