Wonderful product
I love this little radio and MP3 player. I do not have trouble downloading music onto this. That is why I am upgrading from a 126 MB to 512 MB.

NOT worth the money.
I bought this MP3 Player as a less expensive replacement for my mini ipod that I accidentally threw away a while ago. I ended up returning it 3 days later. It was not at all what I was expecting. First of all it doesnt look/feel like a high quality product. It is very very light. It is just cheap , flimsy plastic, and I seriously doubt it would survive being dropped a few times. I also hated the way it organized my music. I am used to itunes with my ipod, where you can make playlists and folders. On this player there is basically no organization. You just have to download the music in the order you want to listen to it. And I had trouble even getting my music onto it. For example, I would try to download a file with 13 songs on it. It would say that it had downloaded with no problems, but when I turned on the player on, only 4 songs would have gotten onto it. I don't know why....maybe I was doing something wrong, but that happened every single time. I also thought the accessories that came with it were pretty useless. The protective cover was difficult to get on, and didn't even fit very well. It covered up the batter door, so you would have to take it off just to change the battery. The neck strap was just a plastic string. The earbuds were just ridiculous. I thought I had gotten a defective pair, because the wire on one of the earbuds was about 3 inches. The wire on the other was about 2 feet. I emailed the company, and it turns out they are made that way, purposely, so that you can wrap the longer one around your neck...which made absolutely NO sense to me. I recommend NOT getting this MP3 Player. It isn't worth the money, or the hassle of returning it. I recommend spending a little more money, and getting an Ipod. I got a refurbished one for $200 on Ebay. I give the player 2 stars. If you absolutely have to buy this player, get in at Overstock.com for $100 less. Be ready for major problems when you want to return it, though :o)

No customer support
I've owned an iRiver ifp series player for over a year. I've been pleased in general with their operation except for the issue that when the unit breaks (which yours may or may not) iRiver has no facilities to repair a unit beyond its warranty period. On the plus side: + Small size + Long battery life with single AA battery. + No OEM battery that can't be replaced + Audio good, and EQ settings very flexible + Many changable option features + Software can be flash upgraded On the negative side: - The software for loading the device is only fair. The unit can supposedly be modified by software to act as an external drive, but I have not tried this. - The need for an external cable is a hassle, nicer if it could just plug into a USB port without a cable - FM radio is not very sensitive. Only local stations are heard. The earphone cord is the antenna, so this accounts for the lack of sensitivity. The stereo decoding takes about 10db more signal so only strong signals will be heard in stereo But, I bought this unit as an MP3 player, so the FM aspect isn't that important. NOW... FOR THE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH IRIVER..... I had my unit for a little over a year. One day, while playing music, the unit just quit, and the display went dead. Checking for the obvious problems, like a dead battery, nothing seemed to be wrong with the unit EXCEPT that it wouldn't turn on or do anything. I sent multiple emails to iRiver and received no reply. I called their 800 number, and was informed that "they do not have a servive center, and make no repairs of the flash players" I cannot give any higher rating than two stars to a company that charges $150-200 for a product and then expects it to just be thrown away as they don't service their product. Apparently, if the unit is still in warranty, they can send out a new unit as a replacement, but beyond the warranty period, you're out of luck as iRiver won't touch the unit. Buy iRiver at your own risk.

iRiver 512 is sweet!
Ok, I've owned a number of mp3 players, and iFP 195T 512mb version is simply elegant. Perfect size for any activity. Sound quality second to none (less one comment below), screen navigation control is as good as it gets (it's a tiny screen after all folks...), clear display in any light, FM is a nice bonus though rarely use it. Downsides for the purist: 1. Earbuds are worthless-- but then I've yet to meet someone who uses of the factory shipped headsets of any mp3 player (except for my ipod friends). Sony earbuds of any variety are awesome (nough said). 2. Armband for jogging is OK, though I've heard some folks complain about the fit (nitpicking to say the least). 3. Hey, it's a tiny screen folks! Navigation is not hard to figure out. Seen a lot worst on top rated mp3 players. Upside: Even big fingers can work this one. 4. Required software is a bit annoying, but the Mac and PC versions work adequately well. Personal opinion - 512mb is the smallest space a person should consider for an mp3 player (period). 256mb is way to small for anything but a few decent CD's worth of music. I find even the 512mb is too small, given that 512mb only allows about 8 or so full CD's in my case. Almost wish I'd held out for the 1gb version instead. Enjoy! http://TVCNet.net

Technology Not There Yet
This is a very nice player. It's the first one that I've owned so I have nothing to compare to. However, I have used flash memory drives. In retrospect, I should have waited until they came out with USB 2.0 and the ability to PnP without having to install custom drivers (Like flash drive, digital camera etc.) Why they haven't adopted these technologies yet is beyond me. Good: Usability, Sound, Battery life, Capacity. Bad: USB 1.1. Packaged software did not work. Had to download latest version from vendor web site. Does not come up as PnP logical drive letter like a flash drive.

Great Player
I did my homework before buying an MP3 Player, and I'm glad I did as the iRiver iFP-195T is great! No complaints. It fits approximately 75 songs and with just one little AA battery you get at least 20+ hours. Once you get the player I strongly recommend going to iriver.com to upgrade the music manager and firmware so you can "organize" the music files into folders on the player. Nice extra feature is the FM turner....never thought I'd use it, but guess what - I did. Overall, great product, small/compact and has a great user-friendly desktop application for transfer and organization of mp3s.

Great things do come in small packages!
I purchased my iRiver iFP-195T unit over six months ago, and all I can say is...I love it! Small, sleek, easy to use...enough storage space for over 100 songs (seriously, who needs more unless they are traveling across country??) Requires one regular old double-A battery which lasts a long, long time. And the Sennheiser ear-bud headphones that come with it are incredible. You won't believe that that much bass can come out of two tiny little pieces of plastic. If you are thinking about getting an iPod, think again. This little gem does the trick for a lot less money. But hey, if you need to impress your friends by carrying around your entire mp3 library, then look into the iRiver iHP 140 40GB Hard Drive MP3 player.

Worth every penny
Pros: Long battery life High storage capacity Easy to use software Great sound Never, ever, ever skips Lots and lots of preferences and options Very small and light The USB connection is on the top, so you don't have to take off the cover to add music The software is easy to use Cons: Reception on the tuner is just ok (only gets stations within 20 miles) Programming presets on the tuner is difficult and switching from preset mode to tuner mode can be confusing The symbols are not quite as intuitive as I'd like File transfer is not fast (maybe 150K/sec) The plastic cover can be hard to take off to change the battery Even with all that, it does exactly what I wanted it to do and I would definitely buy this one again if I lost it (I shudder at the thought)
