| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Excellent grinder This meat grinder performs much better then I expected it to. Handles alll different kinds/cuts of meat with no trouble whatsoever. It's awesome to be able to make steak burgers at will. | 4 | Today | Waring Pro MG100 Meat Grinder I bought this grinder to grind boiled nuts, seeds into a fine powder,
I was surprised to see the results were exceptionally good. I am happy with this product. I recommended this product to my niece who also bought one. Easy to clean and use. | 5 | Today | Excllent Product I puchased this product after reading several reviews. It works as advertised. I would recomend it for any non commercial uses. | 5 | Today | Read the manual first! Contrary to the other poor reviews, the grinder had no problems handling beef, pork, or chicken that was cut into 1" x 2" x 3" chunks. The fine blade did a very good job grinding a mix of meats for bockwurst. The coarse blade worked well for a pure pork country sausage.
However -- after making two batches of sausage, we put the grinder parts in the dishwasher and ran it overnight. In the morning, what a rusty mess. Here are two direct quotes from the manual (which I'll admit I didn't read until after):
- "Rince these parts in clear hot water, then dry. REMOVEABLE PARTS ARE NOT DISHWASHER SAFE!" {emphasis is directly from the manual, not mine}
- "Cutting blade {sic} and cutting plate should be coated with cooking oil after washing and then wrapped in grease-proof paper to keep them lubricated and rust-free."
In this day and age, there is no excuse for making parts that are not dishwasher safe. Even the plates to our old hand grinder were stainless. | 2 | Today | Good for price and size The one I bought was the same model number but had a 300 watt motor on it. I ground 100lbs of beef the night I brought it home. While it was not as fast as my larger one, it did do the job and went through everything I gave it without binding. I did not expect it to be fast, nor did I expect it to be as strong as it was. This grinder will do a good job and I highly recommend it for home use. It would be perfect for a hunter that only has a few deer to grind each year. The speed is debatable. I would guess it ground 1.5-2 pounds per minute. | 4 | Today | cant beat it for the price I purchased this grinder "newly" refurbished for a great deal. I ground the meat not suitable for steaks from two deer in about an hour. It was enough to fill eight gallon size freezer bags before i split it up for the freezer. I never had a problem with anything i saw in the bad reviews. It is a home model and some extra prep is needed in cutting the meat into cubes or strips, and it is basically meant for meat. The grind is pretty fine, even with the course blade and it must be hand washed and dried to prevent rusting. The parts arent crude, they are cast. Everything fit together fine and stayed in place perfectly. The machine will start to bang a bit if you load huge chunks of meat into it but it never clogged or got too run down to grind for me. If you want a precision engineered machine for frequent use, with the capabilities to grind very course or very fine, you should spend an extra hundred bucks or so on a professional model. This one worked great for me. | 5 | Today | An inexpensive *home* quality meat grinder. OK, there are a lot of reviews on here bagging on this meat grinder for not being able to handle big chunks of meat. This is a *home* model meat grinder, not meant for commercial levels of meat. If you're having problems with the unit clogging or being overloaded, you haven't prepped the meat properly for grinding.
I purchased one of these on eBay for about $30 and have loved it. That being said, You *must* cut your meats into reasonably narrow strips before feeding into the tube, and yes, it will require some coaxing through. Also, cut away any cartilage that might clog the holes of the plates.
As long as you observe these very basic rules, you're going to have some really fresh ground meat for your cooking. I can't emphasize how much better the texture is of freshly ground meat or poultry than store-bought. If you need completely effort-free grinding or commercial production capability, expect to pay several hundred dollars more for the appropriate equipment.
For the price point, you can't beat it.
| 4 | Today | Gormet rib eye burgers at last. Great value. I saw the iffy reviews but decided to try one anyway after spotting it at Lowes. I wanted something to grind the ribeyes and chuck roasts I get at Costco and this thing kicks you know what. You slice the meat in 1" to 11/2" thick strips up to 1 foot of so long and its grinds with no problems,I use the medium grate as the small makes burgers too dense and heavy like a meat loaf. As for the lack of stainless blade, just a quick spray of olive oil or canola before storage and the blade is stainless enough. Very pleased with machine and I see no cheap plastic parts people have talked about in earlier reviews. | 5 | Today | So far it works great It survived for about a year without any damage.
Good product. | 5 | Today | Junk I purchased one of these refurbished and was left with a very poor impression. The aluminum feed tube is a crude casting. It mates with the motor body with another crude plastic piece. This is held in place with an indent in the tube that is imprecise and confusing. When I put the thing together, I hoped that at least the performance would contradict or justify the poor fabrication. When I started feeding chopped pork shoulder (no bones) into it, it started to bang and vibrate like it was going to fall apart. It managed to grind the meat, but I sent it back anyway. I looked at the rest of it, and the only thing impressive about it is the stainless steel sheet that covers up the motor. The rest is cheap plastic. This was a real disappointment for me because I own a Waring deep frying and am deeply impressed with everything about it. | 1 | Today |
