| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Simply Put - A good Looking Radio with GREAT Sound I enjoy listening to the radio (seems like one of the few that actually prefer it to the TV), and found this one to be absolutely perfect. It has excellent sound quality, and does a better job at "clearly" receiving stations than other radios. The radio has wonderful knobs that allow fine tuning, and it is fun to occasionally tune into stations from other countries. This radio is built for hearing the human voice, and provides a clear, rich, clean sound. It looks great on my desk, and always draws attention! Although I don't need to use it, the radio comes with antenna connections, external speaker connectors, and bass - tone - treble knobs. The feature I use a lot is the sleep feature, which allows me to leave the radio on as I fall asleep.
Well worth the money - I give it my highest recommendation! | 5 | Today | Toasted with backwards batteries [EDIT] easily fixed ok after all Accidentally put the batteries in backwards, easy to do, markings are poor. Burning smell & no longer works on either batteries or AC. A $100 item should have a diode to protect it. Very very disappointed, what a cheap piece of junk!
[EDIT] Well, I opened up the back & found that it does indeed have a protective diode & this was shorted over. I removed it & now the radio works again. Four stars. | 1 | Today | One Advantage Over the GE Superadio I own both. Some claim better reception with the GE Superadio III. I honestly can't hear much difference. However, the digital frequency display on the Grundig S350 makes tuning to the station you want much easier (and quicker). I've stopped using the Superadio just because the S350 is so much more convenient. | 5 | Today | Great Product When my other radios wouldnt pick up an AM station that I wanted this product did. I LOVE IT. | 5 | Today | The auto shutoff is a must for power outage Just went through a one week power outage in Buffalo and here's what helped:
1. Crank LED Flashlights are great. I had one from Gander Mountain with 3 leds and you could select
either one or three leds to light. I also used two Lightwave led flashlights, the 7 led model and the 3
led model. Both are great and lasted all week. My favorite was the Freeplay Indigo led lamp. Worked great
and I carried it everywhere. Candles are ok but you can't walk with them, they're dangerous, and they
melt faster than you think.
2. Get a led headlamp for hands-free, up-close work. I used a Princeton Headlamp but got the most use
from a PantherVision ballcap that has 2 leds embedded in the visor. Put it on in the morning and it was
there whenever I needed it.
3. Radios are a must. The Freeplay crank radios are great and a must. I also grabbed the "Safety Cross 6
in 1" crank radio/flashlight when I went somewhere - I wish it had AM but it's just FM. Two other great
radios to have are the GE Superadio and, even better, the Grundig S350. I like the Grundig best because
you can forget to leave it on and run out of batteries, a great feature. The GE Superradio sounds much
better and I used it when I needed a break from Emergency Radio to listen to real music. The GE uses 6 D
batteries and the Grundig uses 5 buy they last forever.
4. Check out the "Basepump". It's a sump pump that operates off your house's water pressure - no power
required. It can be your primary sump pump or added as a "power out backup". What a great product.
5. Didn't have a generator, would have been nice, not sure I'll get one. If you do, read the directions
and know them cold. Start the generator once every 3 months. Have an electrician rewire your box so that
you can shut your box off and power your entire house from the generator. If you are not moving for a
long time consider a natural gas backup generator. If you want something cheaper and portable everyone
raved about the newer Honda generators with the automatic cut back, low oil shutoff, etc. I think it's
the Honda EU3000is ?
6. We had trees down everywhere. I had a Fiskars axe (the lighter head) and a Fiskars hatchet: both
outstanding tools. Didn't have a chain saw but I do now, bought the smallest sthil model. You really
don't need much more than a 12-14" bar.
7. Keep some canned in your pantry. Fruit Cocktail, soup, beans, tough to eat them cold but they work. | 5 | Today | Good Radio, Great Reception, Great Tuning A good radio. I picked up a used one on a recent trip in America. I'm able from several cities in the USA the past weeks receive BBC, VOA, and Dutch news casts. Also have received crystal-clear German, French, Spanish, and lots of oriental-language broadcasts (although I cannot understand them.) Also receives GMT time and sailor weather alerts with ease. Nice radio. I like the retro design and analog dials which help with fine tuning. A good buy. | 4 | Today | Fun Radio This radio sits next to my PC and is on while I on the PC.
I go camping up in the Sierra's most every weekend in the spring, summer and fall. And I listen to the short wave in the mountains. With all it's features and great sound plus being able to plug it in to my home stereo it's the best!! | 5 | Today | Good buy If you are looking at this Grundig radio, you have probably looked at the GE Super Radio III and the CC Radio also. Purchase this radio and you will be happy. The CC Radio does not really have any superior features or picks up stations any better and its about 149 bucks. The GE Super Radio III is a great radio but it's looks are outdated and it belongs in a garage more so then sitting in your office or in your home like the Grundig S350. You can pick up a GE Radio for about 50 bucks so thats a plus. But the Grundig looks great and does a great job pulling in AM and FM stations and it has more features then the GE Radio including a timer which is nice and digital tunning. I love the looks of the Grundig radio and I love the digital display. Very easy to find the stations you want and if there is a station you are having difficulties picking up, then you can use the external antenna jacks on the back of the radio. Alot of people complain about the Grundig missing this feature or missing that feature but no radio is perfect. Out of the big three radios (CC Radio, GE Super Radio and the Grundig S350) get the Grundig S350. It's the best buy and you will be happy. Remember, no radio is perfect. You think someday some manufacturer could get it right but this is about the best buy for the money and it will pick up that stations you want. A lof of people complain about the construction of the radio and dont like it because its mostly plastic. Well, tell me a radio out there that is not made of plastic anymore. This includes all electronics including cameras, boomboxes, etc. I spent a lot of time researching the different radios out there and almost went with the GE Super Radio because of its ability to pick up stations and because it is dirt cheap but I went with the Grundig because it looks better and it has a digital tunner, timer, alarm clock and other features. It will look great in any home. You can go to ccradio.com and research the CCRadio and all the electronics on that website if you want. Probably the GE SuperRadio's reception is a 10 and the Grundig and CCRadio's reception is about a 9. But with the added features the Grundig radio has like timer, digital tuner, alarm clock, etc, etc., you have to get the Grundig radio. Or you can have the best of both worlds and purchase the GE Radio and put it in your garage or make it your "work radio" or your "camping radio" and put the Grundig in your house or office! I wouldnt get the CC Radio but I would check out their website sometime because they have a lot of cool electronic stuff like radios and antennas, etc. Good luck!! | 5 | Today | Solid analog radio with digital freq. and easy to use features This is great for combining the tweeky tuning and low noise of an analog tuner with digital frequency readout so you can tell where you are going. I use the clock-radio-alarm feature every day, and the settings are easy. The AM reception is good, not great, but really quiet, so I can use my Terk AM Advantage tuned loop for DX. The FM is good, not real sensitive, but very selective. Nice for a suburb. The shortwave is good on narrow, but weak sensitivity...It needs a 12 foot wire to reach out there. The drift is a bit irksome, but the tradeoffs are sensible for a $100 receiver. The battery set really lasts. The headphone comes out mono, although there is stereo phono output...that is very hi-fidelity when run into amps, etc. It could use help w/ reception, but it's solid, easy, and goes well w/added antennas and hand-tuning. A low-hassle radio with growth potential. | 4 | Today | GRUNDIG SHOULD NEVER HAVE PUT THEIR NAME ON THIS PRODUCT !! This is just like the old, old radio's we all threw away when the new "Digital Tuning" came about several Decades ago. Don't waist your money like I did thinking it was a GRUNDIG radio that held up to their name. I have two other Grundig radio's and would highly recommend them. The "AFC" does NOT work very well. The Antenna is so long you would think it would really make a difference NOT !! Grundig is a great name however, this is not your normal quality you EXPECT. DON'T WAIST YOUR MONEY !! | 1 | Today |
