| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Excellent mouse My favorite mouse of all times (including Mickey). My first MX-310 was over two years ago and I am using it daily without problem since then on both Windows and on Linux (Ubuntu) via a KVM.
Subsequently ordered a second MX-310 last year, and now I plan to buy a third so all my workstations can have their own. I don't use the side buttons much (never tried to get used to the back and forward buttons) but I use the scroll wheel all the time when browsing on windows IE7 (doesn't seem to work with Firefox on Linux, probably a configuration error on my part). Can't think of much to improve except maybe move the side buttons closer to the front so I could push them easily without regripping. But I presume the hand movement is good exercise. No carpal tunnel yet (crossing fingers!) | 5 | Today | Second one - just in case... This, IMHO, is the best mouse ever. I would now, after using it for years, have paid a lot more for it. It's a rarity to find a six button mouse, especially in this price range. Having the option to program the function of the buttons makes it even more incredible. My biggest fear was that it would someday die (although after years it's given no indication of preparing to), and I would not be able to find a comparable replacement.
So.. I'm covering that base by purchasing a second one now while they're still available.
I don't know if I'm allowed to say this, but for those of you interested Logitech makes a keyboard, either wired or wireless, that makes me just as happy; it's called the Media keyboard. | 5 | Today | A really good mouse I purchased this as a gift for a friend. He had the exact same one but his dog decided to eat the cable. He liked it so much he asked for the exact same one even when I offered to buy him one that was more expensive. He has been using this model for a couple of years.
| 5 | Today | Great mouse, getting hard to find I've ordered this mouse several times over the years for different computers. It's a solid performer, and works well on many surfaces including the arm of my easy chair.
I traded mine to my father in law because he didn't like the apple mighty mouse, and I had to buy another MX310 because the mighty mouse wouldn't work well on the soft surface of my chair arm. The mighty mouse is now in a storage box in case I need it in a pinch, and I'm using the MX310 daily.
I hope Logitech keeps making this (or similar) for a long time, but it seems like it's been getting harder to find. | 5 | Today | Great Mouse for Work and Play I have this mouse at work and got it because it is wired, has a scroll wheel as well as browser back and forward buttons. I absolutely loved it and actually got it to replace my Apple Mighty Mouse when it broke. Wired Mouses still beat wireless mouses for gaming, and since this mouse is simplistic, cheap, sturdy and comfortable it's great for anyone, especially a picky gamer! | 5 | Today | The best mouse on the planet When I buy a mouse, I don't care much about "features" I just want the thing to work and to not have a claw for a hand at the end of the day.
This is by far the best mouse I've ever used. Do yourself a favor and disconnect that awful "mighty" mouse and buy this one. | 5 | Today | Best entry mouse I vote with those who found it be to be comfortable, smooth, and convenient (the back and forward surfing buttons are handy). | 5 | Today | Excellent Mouse! I have had this mouse for probably 2 to 3 years now, and it's still going strong. I love this thing!
I have been fortunate enough to not have experienced any of the problems that some people list here. My buttons don't stick, my scroll wheel still scrolls, the optical LED is still as alive and accurate as ever.
It's very comfortable for my hand and my hand is pretty big. All the buttons are easy to use, and I find that instead of trying to use my finger tip to hit the buttons, it is much more comfortable on this mouse to use the sides of my fingers to sort of roll over the back and forward buttons. Since there is only one on each side, there's no risk of hitting the wrong one by mistake.
I use this mouse for everything from internet surfing to gaming, and I've found that it is equally adept at everything. I use if for Half-Life 2, Command & Conquer (all of them, haha), Fable, and much more. Shooters, RTS, and RPGs all are easy for this mouse.
I guess my only complaint is that the symbols on the back and forward buttons have worn off along with the logitech logo... but it sort of looks better without them!
Overall, a great mouse with no complaints from me at all! It's sensitive, accurate, lightweight, and reliable, with a great button layout. I don't even remember if I installed the software or not, it was so long ago. But that means that if I did install it, I had no problems whatsoever. It honestly doesn't need the software at all. I know I didn't install it on my other computers, just the first one, and it works perfectly without it. If the other reviews are any indication, I would say don't install it. It's probably not worth the risk.
I will say that the reviewer who said that you need to shut your eyes and just hold the mouse (or something along those lines) is pretty much right. If this thing doesn't feel comfortable immediately - return it, it will never feel right. But if you're like me, and it feels sturdy and comfortable, KEEP IT! It will serve you well! | 5 | Today | Use it like it I have been using this mouse for over a year and although it took a little while to get use to using the side buttons, once you get in the habit of hitting them instead of the back and forth arrows on the tool bar, it is a time saver. The top button is handy too but I do not use it as much as I thought I would. Some old habits are harder to retrain. If you can find it on sale all the better. | 4 | Today | Scroll Function Is Dying After a year of use, the scroll function on the mouse is dying. It barely scrolls anymore and is going to have to be replaced soon. I'm disappointed that this mouse lasted only one year. I would not recommend buying this one. | 2 | Today |
