| Review | Rating | Last Updated | fantastic basic purpose immersion blender we got this immersion blender because of the price point and we wanted one for soups and baby food. we're very pleased with this blender. it works really well for baby food and is able to blend stuff to the right consistency for our 6 month old baby. our only complaint with it is that after a while your finger hurts holding the "engage" button, as noted by someone else.
other than that one complaint, great immersion blender for twice the price. | 4 | Today | Great! Highly recommend, but... Don't expect more than basic immersion blender functions! It's one of my favorite gadgets in my kitchen. I use it for pureeing for soups, scrambling larger amounts of eggs so they're light and fluffy, mixing puddings and jello, whipped cream, some less chunky smoothies. I occasionally do mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes, but after butter, milk and whatever other stuff is added and in a deep bowl or can be a mess. Lots of uses!
However, don't expect it to do more hard core kitchen things and replace a blender and/or food processor. It doesn't (effectively IMO) mash up some types of big, chunky fruit especially frozen, chop nuts, certainly not ice! For that stuff you're going to need to spend more than $12.99 and get a wazoo style, more powerful and maybe with attachments.
Serious bang for your buck though! I've had mine for 2 years and have used it a lot! | 5 | Today | Not good for smoothies Do not use this blender to chop ice cubes. I tried and it shorted out the motor, tripping the circuit breakers in my house, and does so every time it is plugged in. Works great at blending thin items like soup and protein shakes, but don't use it for thicker items like milk shakes. | 2 | Today | Nice item for the money you pay My wife found this item handy and very useful. It does the job perfectly... It could have been even better if the bottom portion be removable. That would have made me give a perfect 5 star. | 4 | Today | works great~ i bought this item to make soap, which takes alot of stirring. this blender gets the job done asap, and was a good price. | 5 | Today | Immerses sure, but does it blend? I purchased this hand blender with visions of soups and salsa dancing in my head. After my first attempt at Butternut Squash Soup, I realized that this isn't the blender for the job. It took me 20 minutes to blend away the big chunks of butternut squash, and I was still left with a grainy and unpleasant texture. Perhaps I needed to strain it, but perhaps I needed a more powerful hand blender too. Or I should have just used a food processor. Unless you're making stuff one cup at a time, this isn't for you. | 3 | Today | a big help for aching hands Obviously, there are a lot of uses for an immersion blender, but I got it to aid me in one particular task that has been nearly impossible with arthritic hands and a potato masher -- smashing beans for burrito filling! Beans do not mash easily with a potato masher (they slide out from under mostly), and that was very hard on my arthritic hands and wrists. The blender did a bang-up job on the beans, which couldn't get away from it as I moved it around, and up and down in a large, flat pan. I could've gotten the mixture even smoother if I'd wanted, and all in just two or three minutes. It was a bit noisy, but the vibration actually felt good to my hands, and clean up was a cinch. I look forward to using it on many other things that would be a trial to do by hand or any other method. | 1 | Today | Great hand blender! You can't beat this hand blender for the price! I use it to mix my shakes and even to make smoothies, it even grinds up the ice cubs no problem. It's easy and best of all it's convieniant and easy to clean! And it takes up almost no space! | 5 | Today | Hand Blender Other reviews are correct about the on/off button. You do have to hold in the button, and it is very pointy. I simply put a pad on the button (like one that is on your cupboard doors so they don't bang shut), and it works great. Unit is good for everyday blending.
FYI: The manual for the blender specifically says not to run the blender for more than 1 minute at a time (as is typical with most blenders). It specifically says not to use it for crushing ice (don't know why you would think this would work anyways). The downer for me, it says it is not intended to beat egg whites. I didn't know that about hand blenders, so that is a bummer since that is one of the reasons I purchased a hand blender. | 4 | Today | Handy Little Tool I found the product to be great for the price. I'm starting to make soap so the stick blender was purchased specifically for that. I use it to blend the liquids until they thicken a bit. It works great for me. I would consider purchasing another for kitchen use.
It is also very easy to clean. The outside wipes clean and the blades are easily cleaned by running the blender for a few seconds in soap water. | 5 | Today |
