| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Excellent 2.1 Speaker System! I purchased these speakers based on reviews on Amazon. After I got them, I plugged them into my older computer and was rather unimpressed. When I upgraded to a newer computer (1 year ago), with a better sound card, these speakers simply came alive! I actually found myself listening to my music collection just to re-experience them.
Pros
-- Very clear sound
-- Good distinction between instruments
-- Good power output
-- Low bass distortion at high volumes
-- Beautiful appearance
Cons
-- Bass adjustment is on the sub box and not the volume knob
Used, this speaker system is an incredible bargain. And the newer versions of this speaker system are probably just as good.
| 5 | Today | Great sound! I bought these for my computer and they definitely exceeded my expectations. The sound quality is great and they have good volume and base. | 5 | Today | Good For The Price Not the best speakers, but they are very decent in sound quality. The only con is that the bass level is behind the bass and not in the remote control. But both satellites broke before reaching a year. But good thing the Logitech warranty covered it, and sent me a whole new package; even without me returning the used one. | 4 | Today | ok but less than expected the sound that they produce is loud but flat, i was expecting more. also the wood look is great but they didn't pick a very good design/finish to go with it | 4 | Today | Good quality, good price, good volume The main reason I got these were that they were powered. I got a new laptop whose sound card or sound jack is, for some reason, very low-powered, so my old speakers weren't getting the volume I needed. These ones solved the problem:
I get good mids and highs with these. Base is a little low, but not so much as to make me unhappy. The speakers are convenient and work well on a desktop with limited space. I really like the volume control -- it's more convenient than the control on any computer speaker set I've owned in the past. And, most importantly, I'm getting the straight volume out of the speakers that I want. Now I can blast music to my heart's content :)
All in all, a great pair of speakers for the money. | 5 | Today | great sound for a great price these speakers are perfect for a computer or tv in a dorm room...not too expensive, definitely loud enough, and clear as day sound. | 5 | Today | Great speakers (for the price) These speakers are really neat. I got them for $15 at an awesome deal, and I can't stop raving about them.
The only issue, however, is that if the input signal clips, the speakers just mute. This does get a little irritating at times, however, if you reduce the source volume, the problem is usually solved.
The sound is gud, however, it does hold an extra ounce of bass (Even when the bass control is all the way down). This can be corrected, again by modifying the input source (usually in the volume control panel), to reduce the amount of bass.
All in all, a great speaker set, with long wires and a great sound. Can be easily used for a group of 50-60 people | 4 | Today | Super Value for speakers I have the slightly old version of these speakers on my computer and love them. I did some moving around of equipment and my TV and stereo got separated. So, I lost my nice sound on my TV.
I got this newer and prettier version for my TV. It works great for sound and beauty. The base is still that same amazing base in this version. The treble is clearer though. It's nice and clean without being harsh.
These are wonderful speakers, even if you paid much more.
Highly recommended. | 5 | Today | Good speakers, good service These speakers are designed to sit on a desktop, but they can do much more than that.
These speakers aren't going going to wake up your landlord, but for the money are an excellent investment. I plugged them into my tv (a ten year old unit, but still), and was amazed at all the sound I had been missing. rumbling machinery, footsteps, even background music that my tv speakers just weren't delivering. Hooked into my laptop, they have replaced my old stereo. The only real drawback is the due to their size, you have to be sitting between the tweeters to get proper midrange. If they're playing on one side of the room and you are off to the side, you get plenty of bass and treble, but the body of the music is just not getting to the rest of the room. Also, the faux-oak contact paper casing doesn't really work for me.
Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase. The speakers showed up in about four days (sooner than my wife's books, ordered a day earlier!). I paid $45, less a $15 rebate direct from Logitech. I hate rebates, but that's how the world works nowadays. The rebate came in quickly, in a few weeks.
| 4 | Today | Very nice I don't want to come off as someone who knows everything. Having said that, if I know anything it's sound quality. I have been trying different 2.1 systems for my home pc. I gave Creative Labs (I-Trigue) line a shot. They were good but not what I was looking for. I listen almost exclusively to heavy metal/hard rock. Not the simple metal but the very technical metal where sound really matters. The Creative Labs set did not give me good highs on Bruce Dickinison's (Iron Maiden) voice. Also the bass was lacking. Then I decided to put down some extra cash for the JBL Creature. Biggest mistake of my life, well my first marriage but that is not the subject. The Creature did not even compare to the Creative Labs. I was very disappointed because I have JBL home speakers that are incredible but they are Pro series and costed around $500 for two. Then I tried Altec Lansing, good, very good but they costed almost $100. I was ready to give up and just buy a small cheap set. My girlfriend seen these Logitech and noticed them because the wood grain matches our computer desk, yeah I know, women, ha. I explained to her that sound had nothing to do with matching. She kept on until I bought this set. I wasn't expecting anything great. I popped in Black Sabbath's song, "Iron Man" remastered version and uh-oh, really good deep bass. So I put in Iron Maiden's song, "Run to the Hills". Oh the highs were crisp. The bass was more what I would call, "warm" feeling. It was perfect. I love this set now. It doesn't have the audophilic attention that I have in my car or living room (All Infinity speakers in each)but it still does an incredible job for $50. If you think the others that cost more will give you better quality, go ahead and try them but be sure to buy them somewhere with a return policy. I went as high as $180 for a 2.1 but it didn't even do what this $50 set does. Take my word on it. These are great. | 5 | Today |
