| Review | Rating | Last Updated | All business I travel a lot and have the scanner shipped to various cities. The scanner has never failed regardless of the high usage or impacts from the abuse of shipping. Very fast, east to use and clean optics makes this scanner a great purchase. We like it so much the company is purchasing another one. Props to Epson for making a quality product!! | 5 | Today | Best 11x17 scanner for small office I bought this item for our small architectural office to do 11x17 scans. This is a great large format scanner. It comes with a watered down version of Adobe photoshop that is easy to learn and use. It also comes with Abbey Finereader which is also a plus. Several scans can be automatically converted to one pdf file. The scan options are also user friendly with default templates and custom options. I searched several sites and found Amazon to carry the best price for a trusted site. | 5 | Today | WARNING when buying Epson products PURCHASE YOUR EPSON PRODUCT THROUGH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OR FROM EPSON DIRECTLY.
This is not a review of this product, but rather a word to the wise... Two and half months after my purchase of an Epson 10000XL scanner through Amazon, it stopped working. Through the followup and tech support process I learned that, because I purchased through Amazon, the manufacturer nor the seller would honor the 1 year warranty. Epson's position is that Amazon is not an authorized seller and that they merely act as broker for what can often be re-furbished or second hand merchandise.
So, should your purchase break or malfunction, as mine did, you are out of luck with regard to warranty.
This lesson cost me $2400.00 | 3 | Today | FANTASTIC AND EASY Sent back a MicroTek scanner 9800 because it was crap and their tech support was worthless and bought this Epson. On the MicroTek my scans came out with blue backgrounds even after repeated calibrating. The Epson produces crisp, clear, perfect scans and no dreaded blue background to try to fix. It's a total gem! Easy set-up, no fuss, beautiful scans into jpg or pdf files. Love it and recommend it 100%. | 5 | Today | Just Plug It In I am an illustrator with a moderate amount of computer skills. I would rather spend more time painting than worrying about every little tweaking detail offered by many of the higher end scanners.
It was simple to plug in, load the software and begin scanning in Photoshop. The first scan was an 11 X 17 black and white piece of inked comic art - handled readily by the GT5000. I was blown away by the speed and quality.
Very good value - excellent results.
| 5 | Today | NO SUPPORT FOR MAC OSX! Humph. I trusted Epson to provide excellent support for Mac products all through the lean years. This product does not have a driver for Mac. Fury, frustration, disappointment. | 1 | Today | Just what I needed The scanner is just what I needed for doing 11x17 scans. The only caution I would tell people is that the auto-document feeder is not included and costs over $1000. | 5 | Today | Outstanding 11X17 Pro Scanner For Art I received my 15000 two days ago, and set-up took briefly about five minutes. The only difficulty I had was finding where to place it in my crowded studio. It fit perfectly on a microwave stand with casters, close enough to connect to my CPU, but the advantage is that I can move it if needed. I got this scanner because my smaller Epson 3490 has only an 8.5 X 11 bed, and I was weary of stitching two halves of a larger object back together in PhotoShop. That's not difficult, but each half needs color correction to mate and sometimes there are irregularities which need fixing.
My first scan with the GT-15000 was of an 11 X 17 piece of black & white art of mine, and it turned out beautifully crisp and sharp. I plan to use my 15000 to primarily scan my black & white illustrative art for publishing, and so far it looks to do that job with ease. I highly recommend this Epson to those needing a large bed scanner. | 5 | Today | Great Scanner - Had the GT for over a month. Set up took 10 minutes, software is very intuitive, easy to set up and use. I looked at several others offered by Amazon (Microtek, Xerox, etc), but the Epson reliability sold me on this one. And I made the right choice. I'd recommend it to anyone. | 5 | Today | Great Scanner Great Price The primary use is scanning high school yearbooks. After experimenting with scan options, I settled on the professional mode and several settings. I use 24 bit color at 300 dpi, Unsharp Mask Filter at Medium, Descreening Filter at General. This does a great job digitizing a yearbook. The BW settings are 8 bit grayscale, 300 dpi, same unsharp, Descreen at Fine prints. This eliminates any moire patterns. Scan times for both settings is approximately 1:35 which is completely acceptable. My only complaint is that I can't name the settings. It's Setting 1, Setting 2, etc... I highly recommend this scanner. | 5 | Today |
