The mixer works well mixing and grinding using the old grinder.. It is use to make lean low spice sausage and lean hamberger.. I love cooking and started when I was just a kid, helping my Grandma and she always had stand mixers. I love baking and had even considered going to culinary school to become a pastry chef. I don't really have any complaints other than I think I should have bought a treadmill along with it, because I have gained more weight after buying it because I want to use it all the time to make these incredibly fattening dishes. I'm leaving it on my counter top it looks so nice. Purchase the 5 quart bowl or larger - worth it. I used it right out of the box to make my famous cheesecake. So easy to use. Quick and batter came out better than I could have imagined. I'm sorry I waited so long to purchase. We had had a Kitchen Aid (then made by Hobart) for over 25 years before it was killed. It worked great right up until the day it died. It was an accident. We had been so pleased with the old one that we tried three of these before we figured this was not the mixer we were looking for went looking elsewhere. This full size replica of the old Kitchen Aid has an inferior motor and gear train. Contrary to popular belief there are FAR better mixers out there if you want to make bread. 1 Today Excellent value This is a sturdy, durable product. We use it mostly for kneading dough and it works very well. Easy to use and easy to clean. A bit too heavy for moving around- but its something that goes as a side effect of durability. Our last stand mixer was destroyed (motor burnt out) because it was cheap plastic frame and couldnt handle dough mixing. This one does 8 cups easily.. 5 Today HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT I have always heard great things about KitchenAid, and started wanting one as I became more of an active baker. I was thrilled to see Amazon have this on their GoldBox deal one day, and quickly purchased it. I am sorry to say that my experience with this KitchenAid model has been terrible. It sounds awful when mixing, and eventually starts bouncing across the counter. I called customer service...they ARE very helpful and polite, and will ship you a replacement within a week. The trouble is that I am currently on MY FOURTH APPLIANCE. I am stubborn and hope that I have just had bad luck--so I keep calling them--but judging from the other reviews, it is just a crappy product. Each time I have mixed nothing thicker than icing, and within 4-5 sessions of use it starts this bouncing act. I will give them one more chance, but plan to ask Amazon for a return/refund if the next one stinks as well. 1 Today EXCELLENT I have never used a Kitchen Aid Mixer in my life. I read the booklet that came with the mixer and used my own recipe to make banana bread this past weekend.
