| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Decent, at best This game is a matter of comparison. It's SP, compared with its predecessor, is complete garbage. You get about two levels in, and you start to wonder why you are still holding the controller. If you want to keep up with the story, then play the SP game, and pay close attention, as it is rather complex. If you don't plan to get H3 and finish out the story line, then you probably won't have the patience to finish the game.
As for the MP, it is better than the first one. Which is not to say it is good, as the balance factor is terrible (battle rifle, plasma pistol, rocket launcher, and sniper rifle - thats it, the only worthwhile guns in the game, roughly in order of importance). The only more unbalanced online shooter I have played in recent memory was . . . well . . . Halo 1.
Overall, it is only valuable as a segue between Halos 1&3. Otherwise, avoid it, its not worth the time. | 2 | Today | Just recently... Halo 2 I just recently purchased HALO: Combat Evolved and HALO 2 from Amazon. Just yesterday I received both in the mail =). I was extremely pleased with the graphics, I am saving up to buy a XBOX 360 and HALO 3 ($[...] refurbished by Gamestop ,) I am so ready to pass the insolent levels of covanent! I am playing non stop everyday =)!!!
GOOD GAME!! | 5 | Today | Great Halo This was purchased as a gift for my son and he loves it. He completed the first one and is on his way to completing this one. Halo 2 is a little shorter than the first one but is still worth it if you liked the first Halo. I have played it a few times with him and it's not bad. I think this one may be better than the first, but it's a hard choice because they are both good. This plays fine on the Xbox 360, by the way, just as the first one does. | 5 | Today | The sequel to the game that sold Xbox systems. This game is a worthy sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, but there are some differences. The one thing you'll notice right away is one the most significant changes, the graphics. While the graphics in the original were good, these are just amazing. The music take the great soundtrack from the original and improves upon it even more. There are some new weapons this time around, including my favorite, the battle rifle. The sounds for guns and explosions have been greatly improved. The campaign is rather short, but still fun to play through, and leaves off with a cliff hanger, which some people hated but I liked. The action in general feels more fast paced which is a good or bad thing depending on your play style. The thing that really stands out here is the multi player. There is nothing more fun than gathering up your friends and playing system link with eight people all night with pizza, sushi, energy drinks, soda and more! Plus, its online! This is great for all those online fanatics, although online play isn't really for me, I don't like how competitive it gets or the swearing, racist nine year olds. This game is pure fun. | 5 | Today | I absolutely loved it I hadnt played a video game for over 5 years, since Playstation 1. I then buy an XBox 360 and this game came with the purchase as it was able to be played for the 360. So this was my first game I played in 5 years. I had surround speakers for the XBox and I just fell in love with this game. I havent played it in a year so theres only so much I can say. But you'll surely like it. I dont need to go in depth with the game and point out some minor flaw and compare it to other versions lol. But the music for this game, the scenery, the adventures, the story is just remarkable. When I eventually beat it (its a long game and I liked that), this cool music was playing, it felt like I was in a movie, I was so happy when I beat it. I felt as if I was the character I played and we did it lol. We saved the universe. It took so long to finish the game and it was an amazing experience. Especially with surround sound playing in the dark on your bed, you become apart of the game and it takes you on a wild ride. Buy it, you cant go wrong, nice addition to your collection at a cheap price. | 5 | Today | great game, fast shipping the game is great and it came faster than i thought it would.
thank you | 5 | Today | The Combat Devolves a Bit. The original HALO was the game that saved the X-Box and kept Microsoft's fledging HALO 2 continues the adventures of Master Chief and the soldiers of Earth as they try to save the universe. Besides Master Chief's adventures, the game also has a parallel story that begins with a cut-scene on the Covenant homeworld. A Covenant Elite Supreme Commander is disgraced, beaten, and punished because of his failure to capture Master Chief and is selected by the High Prophets to be the Arbiter and atone for his sins. The Prophets believe that the Arbiter will soon be killed in action as all Arbiters were before him, but this Arbiter is different and isn't killed in action. Instead, he fulfills his first few missions, uncovers a secret about the High Prophets, and joins forces with Master Chief.
Story-wise, HALO 2 is a bit of a let down than HALO. The original game had a great story that was well contained and stands upon its own. Apparently the makers of HALO 2 decided to take a cue from bad Hollywood franchises and HALO 2 isn't self-contained. The game is just as fun to play as the original, but without having played the first game, some of the plot elements are lost on newbies. Of course, then there's the whole "cliffhanger" (aka dumb) ending for the game that isn't an ending at all.
A new improvement to the game is that characters can choose to fight with two weapons (of only certain types) at the same time.
The game has a great deal of replay value because of the great co-op features.
Overall, even though I was disappointed by some of the points of the story and the abrupt ending, I enjoyed playing HALO 2. | 4 | Today | HALO 2 (Plot Simplified) Introduction:
Okay, I'm writing this review because of an article I read in Gamepro magazine that said that HALO's plot was so difficult that not even it's biggest fanboys could follow it, and I strongly disagree. I do not consider myself to be a HALO fanboy and in my opinion, HALO's story & plot are rather easy to follow compared to other games out there.
So, just so you know, I won't be writing much about the gameplay here. There are already plenty of other reviews for that, my review is to simplify the plot so that anyone who read that article or heard from a friend that HALO's story/plot are too difficult to follow can read it and draw their own conclusions...
Why? Because HALO is one of the greatest games I've ever played, and I'd hate for anyone to miss out on it because some people happen to think that it's plot/story are to difficult to follow.
The Plot: (Simplified)
In the future, human kind has finally created space ships capable of interstellar travel. However, this has caught the attention of The Covenant, an alien race of religious extremeists who view human kind as some kind of great demonic presence. (Sound familiar?) Now human kind is locked in an epic struggle for survival against The Covenant.
The Marines: Human kind's finest soldiers. Unfortunately, The Covenant soldiers tend to make short work of them...
The Covenant: An alien race of religious extremeists bent on the destruction of the human race.
Spartan II: Super soldiers trained for combat since they were just children, complete with cybernetic enhancements, the Spartan II's are the only soldiers who can go toe to toe with The Covenant's soldiers and hope to prevale. Unfortuately, since the Covenant attack on the human space colony "Reach" only one Spartan II was known to survive. Spartan 117, the Master Chief.
Reach: A human space colony that was attacked and destroyed by The Covenant.
Spartan 117, the Master Chief: The ultimate Spartan II, capable of handling both human & covenant weapons & vehicles. Man kind's last hope for survival.
HALO: A ring world created by the Forerunners as a last resort against The Flood.
Forerunners: An ancient alien race that is now extinct, they were responsible for the advent of HALO.
The Flood: A paracitic race of aliens, once they attach themselves to a human or covenant host, the host will begin to mutate and reproduce more Flood spores.
This is basically all you need to know about the HALO universe, the rest you will learn as you play through the game.
If what you've read so far sounds too complicated, then it probably is for you. if not, buy yourself a copy of "HALO: Combat Evolved" and let the adventure for the salvation of the human race begin!
I was never a big fan of FPS's, (First-Person Shooters) but HALO's smooth controls & epic story made me forget I was playing an FPS at all!
Overall Rating: 5 Stars! Story mode isn't quite as good as HALO 1 & 3, but it's XBOX LIVE capabilities as well as the overall story of all 3 games makes it a 5 star experience. | 5 | Today | Halo 2, don't hold the ending against the whole experience! So we were forced to play to much as Arbie, big deal. Don't be afraid to admit that you thought the game rocked right up to the cliffhanger (poor choice) ending. It was awesome watching the cutscene when MC went flying through a space battle holding on to that nuke-like, Covenant bomb! Also I enjoyed dual welding SMGs and Needlers. Halo 2 has given us some great gaming experiences both on line and in campaign. Atleast Bungie tried to improve and expand on the game's universe instead of just rehashing the first (awesome) title. They improved the look, sound and controls and gave us some new toys. Overall, it's an excellent game (just not as fun as the original, not counting LIVE play)! | 5 | Today | Better than Halo I really loved Halo. It had really good graphics and a really good story. Halo 2 on the other hand has great graphics and a great story. Halo 2 offers more weapons and more vehicles to drive in. Some of the weapons are not as effective as they were in the origional Halo. For example, the plama pistol and the magnum hand gun are pretty weak. But, the all new weapons make up for that. The rocket launcher can now lock on to enemy vehicles and you can now use the Couvenant energy sword which makes a divistating kill. There are also certain gliches found in the game when you play it a lot. And I mean.....a lot., which makes the game even more cool. Thanks for reading, and I hope my review came in handy. I have to go now because I'm in the middle of playing Halo 2. Nah I'm just kidding. I've already played this game three times already, and I don't think that I'll ever get tired of it. | 5 | Today |
