I was thinking of purchasing this printer for my sister, because I have one and I love it. I was a little worried about the reviews people wrote about this product. I have owned this same printer for over three years and I have nothing but great things to say about it. I never have problems with it, the print quality is great for an at home printer, I can fax with no problems, and I love that I can copy as well as scan (very useful for law school). I use all the functions it has, and am never disappointed. Maybe I am lucky? Maybe it is because I know how to alter the default functions so that pages print in the order I want, or with the quality I want? Maybe the other people who purchased this product wanted something that would work for their business (in which case I would suggest something more commercial)? I don't know why the reviews are so bad. I have gone through many printers in the past, and they have always left something to be desired, however since I purchased this one, I am finally satisfied. Where can I begin? Initially, I was VERY happy. It took 1 month of minimum copying/faxing before the cartridge was out of ink. The price of the cartridges would make it cheaper to keep buying new printers(cartridges included). Bought an HP at a similar price and amazed at the difference. If you love the Lexmark, just wait until you try the HP. Disappointing!!!! | 1 | Today | Not bad at all!
Ok I bought this when my Brother All-in-one had to go to the repair shop for the 3rd time to have the printer head cleaned... for another $80..
Anyway, for the same amount of money (about $80) I bought this Lexmark. I've been happy with it so far. I haven't had any significant printing problems - other than running out of ink from use! The phone is bad, I'll agree there.. I don't use the phone handset, but I do use the fax and copier. Even the scanner does pretty well! I had no problems connecting with my PC (running Win XP Pro) - and I leave things on 24/7 and don't lose connectivity. I have shared it on my internal network so my son and husband use it too.
The ink is a little pricey, espcially when my kids like to print color photos of all their favorite cartoon characters over and over.
Otherwise a good $80 investment. I'd buy another if this one breaks.. I've already gotten my money's worth over the last year.

I bought what I thought was a NEW printer. When it arrived it had stickers all over it saying it was a reconditioned printer from the manufacturer. I was very upset as I felt I had been mislead and was never told it was reconditioned - it said NEW. I wanted to return it but I desperately needed a printer I did not have the time to fool with returning it and waiting to get another. So, I kept it. The printer itself has worked fine but I feel like I can't trust Amazon anymore!!!!! | 3 | Today | Doesn't FAX

WHERE DO I BEGIN?? The ink catridges dried up after a few weeks of not using it and now it also says the device is not recognized by windows, so it is now offically inoperative. From a scale of 1-10 (10 being an expert) I am like 9.5 when it comes to computers. So I've done everything possible to reinstall this printer and fix its issues to make it functional again and have made no progress. Windows recognizes the device being connected but is useless because it doesn't have a driver; when I try to install the driver, the setup program says the device is not connected. What is its recommendations?? (This is the best part) Check to make sure the cable is plugged in and the power light is on. TERRIBLE!!!!!!! I contacted their Tech. support and their response had nothing to do with my problem I inquired about. PATHETIC!! I'm also considering developing a website just to demote anything with the name LEXMARK on it. I hope this review saves a lot of people... | 1 | Today | Adequate all-in-one
Given the relatively low price of this machine, you need to temper your expectations for this. As a previous Lexmark owner, I wanted to get another Lexmark that used the same size 70/71 cartridges because I found this size to be readily available at places like Costco, Walmart, and Target.
This machine does an adequate job for light usage. Since I only use this for copying, printing, and faxing documents, I changed the print settings to black & white only. I find that this increases print speed and reduces overall printing costs. It clearly is not the best all-in-one out there, but, for the price, it does a satisfactory job. | 3 | Today | AWFUL
I don't know how many times I had to turn this machine off and on just to clear it. Would constantly get "hung up" when using ANY of the functions: faxing, receiving, scanning, printing, copying. Considering this is the third Lexmark All-In-One I have purchased, suffice it to say, it is clearly problems with the Lexmark brand. The first one ended up not being compatible with an upgrade I made in Windows, the second one malfuctioned due to what might have been a defficient ink cartridge, and am having similar problems with this one. Print catridges carriage tends to jam when I change one, there appears to be inferior printing on certain paper sizes, and the unit itself occasionally freezes up when I turn on my computer. | 3 | Today | Great job as a scanner - haven't tried printing
As a multi-page scanner, it works pretty well. It often makes 1 out of 30 pages crooked, but otherwise is really speedy and the software interface is pretty good. It whines if you don't install printer cartridges, but will still function w/o them installed if you ignore the nags, unlike some other brands that will stop dead in their tracks. Haven't had a good record w/their flatbed scanners, but this seemed better constructed. | 3 | Today |
