I have taken the two that I own out half a dozen times now, and the inflation is easy, boat handles as well as expected, and it is pretty durable. My fiance and I purchased this boat last summer. We live very close to a river, so we just dropped in by our house. We paddled all we wanted and pulled out about 10 miles down in a riverside park, deflated the boat, then called a cab and threw it in the trunk to go home. Perfect! When deflated, if you get a couple of nylon straps, it can roll up to about the size of a medium duffle bag for transport.
I did one run without the skeg (not included) and one with. Don't skip the skeg. It made a HUGE difference in the handling.
I've had several canoes over the years. The pain was trying to transport, portage, and get home on my own. This is a perfect solution.
I'm 5'8" and my fiance is 6'5". We were a bit cramped when sitting in the boat, so I'd recommend that you get 2 boats for 2 adults. | 4 | Today | good for me
I recently purchased one of these from another vender. I have no prior experience with kayaks and limited experience with boats of any kind. I needed a small inexpensive boat to rescue stranded R/C boats (see my other reviews) that was capable of handing my 220+ lbs with some margin to go two up if desired. I also purchased a Sevylor paddle, skeg, and large foot pump at the same time. I inflated the kayak with the foot pump in about 20 minutes including installing the skeg. I am pleased with the initial quality and price of this kayak. The vender I got mine from sold the drab green one for the same price as the banana yellow one so I opted for the drab green.
I had planned a controlled, methodical initial sea trial with the kayak due to my lack of experience, but stuff happens. One of my RC boats got stuck in a morass of weeds at a local lake and I had to rush back home and get the kayak. I loaded the inflated kayak in the back of my Ranger and off I went. The kayak was easy to load and unload and once in the water (with PFD on) I quickly figured out how to propel and maneuver the kayak well enough to rescue my R/C boat. The seats are surprisingly comfortable (at least for the short time I was in the water). The low profile of the sides makes this craft ideal for what I needed it for (fetching things out of the water). The kayak was easily removed from the water and loaded back in the Ranger.

This inflatable canoe does not handle easily, drifting from side to side constantly. It floats fine. Be aware that the valves are actually a mix of Boston valves and the pool toy variety (which means inflating by mouth, which means moisture gets trapped inside). | 3 | Today | skeg is a must
The Sevylor Skeg is a must add-on. The skeg is a fin that hooks on the back of the kayak to assist in straight line tracking and also helps with turns. Most places on the web sell it for >$20. The skeg will also work on look-alike models.
Inflatable kayaks are notorious for fishtailing while paddling and the skeg curtails that action nicely so that your inflatable handles more like a hard-body kayak.

They are also easy to patch which is important with any inflatable.

Clearly the value will draw many customers to the Tahiti, but don't be fooled by the low price, the Tahiti is still a very capable boat. The Tahitis strength is its adaptability and its versitility, it can be paddled down the Amazon and will also do nicely for the local pond! Worried about carrying your boat, don't be, the Tahiti can be thrown into the truck of a compact car and can even be packed and carried by rucksack!
Rough and Tough
I own this kayak and the colorado, both of which are outstanding value. Despite what you may think, the Tahiti is an amazingly robust boat, I have hit rocks in my Tahiti as well as dragged it across rocks in shallow water. Talking of shallow water, if needed, one man can pick up the Tahiti and carry it with no problem.
High Capacity and Low Draught
What more can you ask from a boat! The Tahiti rides high out of the water and it can carry 400 pounds!
It Can Fly!
Well, at least it can when you take in on a plane.
It weighs in at 30 pounds just pack it small and check it in with your luggage.
If money is short and you need a boat that can go anywhere, the Tahiti is for you!

This inflatable kayak is functional and easy to transport given it's light wheight. Once inflated, it's easy to carry with just one arm when empty. It also has a very sturdy feel once it's completely inflated (I would recommend an electric pump that you can plug into your car battery charger).
With both seats in the kayak, there is suffient room and storage space for two adults and gear. I have been using this kayak mostly for fishing with my four-year-old son on small lakes. We generally carry two fishing rods, gear box, bottled water, and other related items, along with a dry bag. Even with all this "stuff" in the boat there is plenty of room inside, and with the seats in place I have plenty of support and elbow room for paddling.
I haven't yet taken this kayak on down a creek or river so I'm not able to comment on its use in that scenario. | 5 | Today |
