| Review | Rating | Last Updated | I love this little robot with all my heart I was given this device as a Christmas gift several years ago. I adore it and use it daily. It's the rarest of gadgets:
1. Utterly useful: it plays MP3s, records WAVs, and receives FM radio.
2. Utterly simple: It's basically a USB drive with a play button and a headphone jack on it. It runs forever on a single AAA battery. It's light as a feather and can fit comfortably inside your mouth, should the need arise.
3. Utterly compatible: I've used it with a multitude of computers and operating systems, and the little guy has never let me down.
True, it's not going to hold your entire music library, it's only going to hold the songs you really, really like at any given time. It encourages you to live a life of all killer, no filler. In today's "infinite, instant gratification" culture, that's a humane gift.
This little robot has markedly improved the quality of my life without asking anything in return. I just bought another one for backup in case anything should ever happen to mine, God forbid. Enthusiastically recommended! | 5 | Today | It's A Classic!!! I've had mine for a few years...has fallen a number of times....even split open at one end...just pushed it back together...and pressed play. Nuff nice features, good sound quality...not the best...but pair it would the right headphones and it will surprise (the headphones that came with it didn't last that long). The only real con is that the voice recording function isn't the best...a little noise always kicks in at the beginning of the recording. I have access to a variety of mp3 players...Ipod, Sandisk, SE W810i(good sound quality) but for the rugged fun this is still my pick. It is a little dated but if you can get it cheap...definitely cop it. | 5 | Today | 2.5 years and going strong I bought this MP3 player 2.5 years ago,and have had no problems with it. I used it off and on for most of the time, but this past month I use it daily when going for walks. It holds enough music for my hour long stroll about town. The battery life seems to last a while. It's no big concern to carry an extra battery anyway. Very easy to plug and ply on my pc and my laptop, no software needed. All music is loaded via drag'n'drop. I do use an outside program to rip my cd's to mp3,which is a life saver.
I've also used this as a flash drive before I bought a 2 gig usb drive.
My only true complaint is the earbuds, I hate them with a passion. So I replaced them with a pair of behind the neck head phones, problem solved.
Only thing I wish I did different was to not get FM radio (Sirius Subscriber,so I avoid terrestrial radio), and maybe more memory. But 40 or so songs is enough to cover my daily walk routine.
All in all(minus the ear buds) I'd say this little guy has been very reliable. I wouldn't hesitate to get another if I have to. | 5 | Today | Really need improvements The battery cap is extremely fragile. It breaks easily.
I bought three MuVo to my daughters and all of them are broken. They aren't kids anymore.
At least, the gadget works fine but you must update its firmware or it will stuck very soon. | 2 | Today | Better that the Nano....the 1GB version This item is better than the Nano, has voice recorder, FM, mp3, it is great ! | 5 | Today | Total Piece of Crap I have had this player for a little over a year and have hardly used it. It has never worked correctly. When trying to switch tracks, it automatically shuts off on me. Now, it won't even turn on! Unfortunatly, I did not register the product or keep any of the original paperwork, so the company won't do a thing about it. If you have this player, do not get rid of the paperwork! | 1 | Today | For Beginners I received this about 2 years ago, when it was first released and very expensive. It is still the only MP3 player I have ever owned and does the job. Compared to newer MP3 players this is a `toy', with limited functionality, memory, and lack of video, pictures, etc. It is extremely basic. The biggest problem is with battery life - it is horrible!! Absolutely horrible battery life. It uses 1 AAA and it eats through batteries like crazy. That has been the biggest downfall. The software it's bundled with is ok, but not very intuitive; I still have a hard time figuring out how to transfer music easily. The player is extremely compact and the headphones are ok - nothing fancy. I've used the voice recorder a lot and also the FM radio, and both offer good reception. The on/off dial is a button that you have to hold down and it takes quite a while to start up/shut down. You can scroll through songs, fast forward, rewind, and the songs seem to be played alphabetically by song title (unless I just haven't figured how to change that). This isn't a player for people who love music, because it doesn't hold too many songs - between 60 and 120. I've outgrown this, and technology has surpassed what this player is capable of; this is a bare-bones player that doesn't hold much and doesn't do much. Great for a run in the park, but the battery probably won't even last that long. Unlike others, this has never broken on me or malfunctioned. There are much better options available now in MP3 players, so look around for something better. | 2 | Today | MuVo TX 256 MP3 player - broken usb connector I saw another review with a broken usb connector problem. It happened to my MuVo too. The connector is not really broken but is cleanly separated from the player (and attaches firmly to the battery unit). My MuVo player is now completely useless. The CL "Award winnging customer service" web site has no address or phone number to call for repair. Needless to say, CR loses me as a customer. | 1 | Today | Love these things! Ipod be damned. Does the necessaries with no fuss. A bit tricky for my fat fingers, but I would never buy the Nano or Ipod over this. Yes, the volume is a tad low, and the included earbuds are weak. Durable, well designed software, good battery life, good FM tuner. | 5 | Today | Not worth your money and time. Don't purchase I bought this unit when it was so much more pricey. I used it for a little while and then the usb connection was broken or without making contact. I sent the unit in for repairs and it came back fixed but to it was broken again a few weeks after. Worthless piece of equipmment.
