This product played only 50% of the DVDs I tried to play - all of the DVDs were brand new, sealed in the box, commercially produced DVDs of recently released movies or tv shows. I love this product! I can stay on the treadmill for 2 hours if I am watching a good movie. The headphones are not great so I changed them out with my MP3 headphones. The picture is clear and the machine plays well. It is also great on the airplane and in the airport. I even travel with it and watch movies in my hotel room. I never thought Coby would be a brand I would be so happy with but this series of portable DVD players are great.I also purchased the newer unit w/speakers integrated and since this original purchase was for my teenage son with special needs any less attachments was a plus.So Dad inherited this unit and I love it!I found new Case Logic cd carrier with clear window which makes a great carrier for either unit and it really protects screen with only minor obstruction.Very personal...very portable...suprising battery life.I am happier with the speaker integrated model but also quite a few more $$$ | 4 | Today | Prortable DVD Player For My Toyota Prius
I was looking for a small DVD player that I could use in my Toyota Prius. I have it setup so that it plays through the car JBL radio and uses the built in 7" screen on the Prius for the video. This DVD player is small enough to fit in the glove box or center console. It comes with all the cords and carrying case needed to be fully functional. I did not have to buy anything thing else. Great portable DVD player, the resolution is perfect and the sound is just fine. The only reason why I gave it a 4 was because it does get a little hot when you watch a movie with the wall outlet adapter. It does not do that when you use the rechargable battery. I have had this product only 1 month. The features were why I purchased this item & I have not been disappointed with that. However, multiple segments on the function display did not illuminate. This was a gift for my son & the hassle of repackaging, returning to vendor, waiting for a replacement made an exchange non-desirable. I could have given this five stars,but I just purchased this little gem a few days ago and Im just getting used to it. I love the small screen size and the incredible picture. Another plus is once you attach the battery pack there is no need to remove it unless you want it even more compact. It does act as a stand and one of the fun aspects of this unit is that you can bring it virtually anywhere(it even fits in a big pocket)and can watch a DVD.
I have quite a library of TV shows on DVD, and say you are waiting forsomeone, or you have a fewminutes to kill before an appointment or whatever, you can just take this baby out and watch a 25 minute sitcom!
I am looking forward to bringng this with me on a cross country train trip next month. I d like to buy another battery for this unit, but I have no idea if they sell them alone.

I purchased this based on reviews here saying that the screen resolution was good. I have been very disappointed. The picture quality is horrible, menu's are almost unreadable. I'd rather watch movies on my Samsung DVD-L25 with a 2.5" screen than this larger 3.5" screen. Battery life seems good, but with the battery on, it doesn't even fit in the case it comes with. I saw this bad boy at Suncoast for $99 and flipped out. Before, I had always thought about getting an Ipod Video, but I didn't like the idea of having to wait to get home to rip a CD to an MP3 player. But then I saw this. Now I have a decent replacement for my dead Rio Volt SP 150! ^.^
Pro's:
#1- CAN play JPEG's and MPEG movies that are burned to DVD-R.
(great for pictures, music videos and TV show episodes)
#2- Small, yet satisfying LIGHTED lcd screen.
#3- Comes with everything you need for travel; a carrying case, adapters for CAR and WALL SOCKET. Comes with its own pair of headphones included.
#4- Compact, but not small enough to lose easily (unlike an Ipod Nano)
Con's:
#1- Short battery life (2 hours for movies, 6 for MP3's, maybe longer if you turn the display off) and icky proprietary charge batteries (I'd rather just be able to pick up some AA's for it at the Airport)
#2- The volume is lower for DVD's, but higher for music. WTF?
#3- Generates HEAT when running off the wall outlet.
#4- No way at all to make the menu and ID3 fonts LARGER.
#5- Internal speakers would have been good. | 4 | Today |
