I just got a Dell Inspiron 6000 for Christmas and I wanted to add a tv tuner.My bro suggested me to buy AverMedia Cardbus tuner cos he has one and it works and looks fine. No problems or complaints at all.And now I have it.Its installation and video quality are quite good indeed. 5 Today Caution, Avoid this product At first I thought this will be useful, a tv turner card without cables. Then I installed and it work fine for 3 minutes then it frozed. I restarted my computer, I unistalled and installed again. 30 minutes later frozed up againd. Download newest drivers, and the same procedure. 1 hour later froze up. I Packed it up and send it on a heart beat. stay away from avermedia. 1 Today Problems Well I received it and I proceed to install following the instructions. Really very easy to install. I connected AverTV Cardbus to the cable. I did a SCAN for the cable channels, it worked for a while and then the blue light of the card turned off and no channels could be see. I removed the AverTV Cardbus from my notebook and blue light came back again for maybe 1 min or less and turned off again. It looks that it is maybe damage, I think the problem appears when it gets hot. I made work the following day and it worked for maybe 5 min. and card light goes off again. Maybe I received one that has problems 2 Today Not All Of That... but it is Most Of That If this card came with a mini antenna and picked up FM radio broadcasts it would be perfect. It's easy to set up and use. It works well with my Dell 6000 laptop. I don't have a cable connection but I imagine the picture would be gorgeous if I did. I've backed up videos from my VCR and DVD to my PC with excellant video quality. It comes with RCA and S-video jacks for easy recording and can be connected coaxially for cable. I've travelled and viewed local tv with reception that varied according to the location (understandably). I had to buy an external mini antenna seperately to realize good reception while travelling. PIP only works with one LIVE broadcast and a STORED video that's already on your PC. It's a PCMCIA card and only laptops come with that slot so it should be assumed that the user would be utilizing the product while travelling or away from home so an antenna and FM radio reception should be standard with the product. I love it and my friends love it. For $75 it beats the $200 that I spent on the Pinnacle MovieBox two years ago for recording to my PC and this has a built in TV and needs no connection to AC power. 4 Today Decent Card..Just didn't work on our laptop TV tuner card was sent and received as stated by the seller. The TV card however did not work on our laptop (IBM Thinkpad A41p) but worked just fine in a laptop of a different manufacturer. Had to use AVerMedia website to get resolution of problem but gave up when we realized the process was going to take forever. Sold it to person who got it to work on their laptop and we just bought a LCD TV. 1 Today PCMCIA TV Tuner for Notebook When i see, look good, but i used with battery and not work properly. Only conected by AC work good. I recomend if not use the battery. 2 Today Did Not Work This product does not work at all. I called tech support and they agree. They told me to send it back and get another one. I did. It did not work either. I sent it back and got my money back. Amazon was great, but the AVerTV card is junk. 1 Today Nice Card After read a several reviews of this product, I was a little concern about the card performance but I had a good sorprise because, so far, the card is working good. Do what it says. The only problem is that do not come with an video editting app. 4 Today Works Perfectly The device does what it says! Load the software, insert the card and connect your cable to it and you have an instant portable TV as well as a laptop. I own several Avermedia products and all of them work perfectly.
