| Product Reviews from Amazon.com (Rating System 1 to 5) |
| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Superb Item! I'm in my 80's, not at all mechancally or electronically inclined, and had put off buying a scanner because I was afraid it would be too complicated. Once my grandson had connected this scanner to my computer, I was able to use it with the greatest of ease. Not only that, but it makes the clearest, most perfect copies imaginable! I'm absolutely thrilled with the LiDE 25. | 5 | Today | alignment's weird My only problem with this scanner is the alignment. I had to make a copy of my dog's vaccination form, and the scanner made a copy that I swear is even better than the original. However, it also cut off the top 1/2 inch of the form where the address of the vet was. SO I had to fiddle with it a bit, and finally figured out to sacrifice the bottom portion of the form (fine print anyway, but could be a problem later on) to get the pertinent info to come out.
The sound from the scanner was nothing compared to the noise that came from my OLD scanner. It weights next to nothing (again, a change from my old one) and I have no trouble pulling it in and out of where I keep it (limited space for peripherals) to use it.
I have a little issue with the cover-lid-thingy, but I just don't like that it's not super smooth. Normal people would not be bothered by the way the door-thing opens. I don't like the way it hinges in.
I love love love the copy feature (minus the alignment issue), and I love the PDF feature. One press easy use features work perfectly for me.
Overall, I love my scanner. | 4 | Today | Best performance/price ratio in the market I have LiDE 20 for many years (scanned a lot of pictures and a lot of documents). I am still using it regularly. It always perform as expected and it is slim and light and power directly through USB. Since it is so good, I wanted to buy a second one (one at home, one at work). But LiDE 20 is out of market so I bought the LiDE 25. The LiDE 25 Windows driver is different to LiDE 20 but there is no sweat. The price is so low. I was paying $100 for the LiDE 20 but LiDE 25 cost only $50. The LiDE 25 has more features but I just want it to work like LiDE 20 and it did. | 5 | Today | Great Little Scanner I really like this scanner. It was great for the price. I scanned about 40 or so pictures that I used on a website. Really easy to use no problems at all. It also is small in size and saves space. I remember the first scanner I had about 10 years ago. The thing was big and bulky and it took forever to scan. It also was pretty expensive. What a long way things have come.. | 5 | Today | Canon Canoscan Lide 25 color image Hi This scaner is exactly what I was looking for. I just
play on the computer so don't need anything more complicated.
It works for me. Sincerely, Sandy Chausee | 4 | Today | CanoScan LIDE 25 This is a nice scanner. It looks good and is compact. I mainly use it to scan documents and have only used it a couple of times for photographs.
The scan speed is a little slow but otherwise it works well and the included software is easy to use. This is my fourth scanner (over many years) and I am very pleased with this one for the price. | 4 | Today | Exactly what I wanted! This scanner does exactly what I need it to do: scan checks for deposit. It works quickly and is a breeze to use. Would recommend to family and friends. | 5 | Today | Good basic scanner. I purchased this scanner to use primarily for scanning hand-drawn maps and documents for a research project. I also use it to scan in photos and color images from time to time.
The scanner works well, it scans documents and black-and-white images very well. I'm not overly impressed with the colors in scanned photographs, there are probably some settings I can tweak to improve the results. I think it'd be fine for scanning snapshots, but if you're an amateur photographer you might want to look at a higher quality scanner.
The only major issue I have with the scanner is that it is *slow*. Scanning one page isn't too bad, but the printer takes a long time to reset itself so multi-page scanning becomes tedious.
On the plus side, the scanner is about the same size as a large-ish notebook computer and only requires a USB connection. I've been able to throw it in my backpack's laptop carrying compartment and take it with me to various libraries so I can scan in documents. Saves some time and money photocopying.
Finally, this is the only LiDE model that's compatible with Linux. The linux driver is pretty basic and only supports scanning at the scanner's full native resolution or a low resolution setting, but it does work.
If low-cost and/or linux compatibility is your main priority, this scanner is a great buy. If you can spend a bit more and want something that's a bit faster the Canon Lide 90 might be a better choice. | 4 | Today | Great Product for the Price I've been using this scanner for several weeks now and am very satisfied with it. The installation and setup was easy, and I had it up and running in less than a half hour. The only problem I've encountered is that some photos I scanned came out looking "stripey", but I solved this by using the "blur" filter in Photoshop. I'm pretty sure the Canoscan Toolbox includes a "blur" filter as well, since it is similar in many ways to Photoshop. This is a good scanner for basic, everyday use, and a great value for the price. | 5 | Today | Hunk of Junk if you are a MAC user. I upgraded to OSX 10.5 and suddenly my brand new scanner- barely a week old was useless, and guess what. Canon knows this, and they make no driver to support the new OSX operating system. Worse than junk- if you advertise compatibility with OSX operating system then make it compatible. | 1 | Today |
