ANOTHER version of the gameboy....this one is a keeper
Nintendo has had a lot of success with the Gameboy product, which is the simple logic behind yet another version of the GameBoy Advance. This one is the GBA Micro, and the major selling point is small size of the system. This thing is just tiny, like a cell phone. The screen resolution is near-perfect, with lots of clarity and sharp colors. The design is simple, with just the basic funtion buttons as well as a headphone jack showing up on this gameboy. In my opinion, the coolest thing about the micro is the fact that you can sneak this one into pretty much any situation. So it gets a 10 on the stealth meter. I saw a third-party case for the micro, and it looked just like your typical cell phone case. When you combine the size with the super-long battery life and lots of fun games, you have a winner with the GBA Micro.

NOTHING compared to the SP
The first Gameboy Advance model, back in 2001 was a fun new product with a nice big screen but a lot of bulk. Then along came a much needed update to the system, with the Gameboy Advance SP, which gave it a new flip design, rechargable battery, slimmer and lighter shell, and most importantly, a backlight. This was the all-around perfect system and dominated the handheld market untill the DS was released. Around the same time as the DS, the Micro was released as well. This new design puts the gameboy back in wide form, like the origional, but basically, it is just a very small gameboy advance with a very small screen. If you really need the gameboy to be smaller, then this might be worth checking out. PROS- + screen is bright, not too small so that you cannot read on-screen text + so small you wont be able to feel it in your pocket + sleek, sexy design CONS- - Screen is small compared to other GBA models, can cause eye strain, some games are made harder because of this - Battery life is not so good - L and R shoulder buttons are unresponsive and you must hit them in a specific spot for recognition -Sound is weak - Scratches easily and is a fingerprint magnet - You can only play GBA games, no color or origional GB games like the older models did. In conclusion, no one should buy this over the SP. the SP is better in every way except for size, but the SP was pretty small to begin with when folded. The only reason to buy this would be if you really need a smaller handheld, but otherwise, stick to the SP.

Get a Gameboy Color instead!
Just get the Gameboy Color instead of the Micro. I have owned the Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP, and now a DS lite. Out of all of the Gameboys I have, the Gameboy Color is definitely one of the best. So what if the graphics aren't very good, graphics aren't everything. It's game quality that really matters. The Gameboy Color is ALLOT less money than a Micro. It is only $9.99 used at Gamestop, and the Gameboy Micro is 69.99 new. Since it is older than the SP and Micro, there is a way bigger game library to choose from. My advice is to get the Gameboy Color.

screen too small
screen is VERY bright and crisp, just too small for me. i find myself putting it close to my face to see it and i just got a football game and i cant see the plays. im giving it to a 14yo boy for x-mas to replace his game boy advance(not sp). im sure he wont mind killing his eyes on that thing.im sure when i was that age i wouldn't mind. besides the screen being too small its ok, just got my new onyx colored advance sp today tho and have to say i like it better. very slick the way it folds and bigger screen, wish it were fully backlit like the micro but still better to me

not bad for its small size, but not for serious gamers
I travel a bunch so I needed something to keep me occupied on long flights. The psp was big (compared to the micro) and it was expensive. I didnt want anything too pricey because electronics tend to break easy due to getting banged around with all the travel. Also I needed something really small, small enough to fit in my pocket. Even the DS was bigger than I wanted. The GBA micro fit the bill. The graphics are not bad considering its tiny size. The battery life is impressive also. I've noticed that the games are cheaper than that of the DS or PSP. I have one major complaint and that is the selection of games. Without a doubt Nintendo markets this device primarily to children and this is reflected in the games. Yes there are some decent games but for every Final Fantasy or mortal combat there are 10 Strawberry Shortcake or barbie games. The GBA micro beats other hand held gaming units in 2 areas only: size and price (and maybe battery life). If you're an adult looking at the Micro and size and price are unimportant then look at the DS or Sony PSP. For my needs its pretty good. I don't regret buying it.

Pretty in Pink
I've had my GBA Micro for a year now. I am incredibly pleased with it. While I've only played 2 games on it (Sims 2 and Sims Bustin' Out) I have loved every minute of it. The graphics are amazing, the screen is super bright and the controls are easy and smooth. My only complaint is the screen gets really scratched up, but I have had it for a year. I wish they would come out with replaceable faceplates so that the screen wouldn't look so scratched. It also does NOT come with a game or even any demos, so make sure you buy one! It is useless without a game. Overall, though, I'm very pleased with the little machine. I carry it in my purse and play it whenever i've got "down time".

great!
The size and weight is wonderful. I really like the fact that I can take it anywhere with me and it won't take up too much space. It comes with everything you need so thats a good thing. The only thing that could have changed would be the size of the screen. It really could have been a bit bigger, but it's all good. Just becareful because you can only play gameboy advance games on this thing. However, I suggest you buy it if you don't mind.

Small in size not performance
My daughter was using an old gameboy advanced which is hard to see without an external light, the ,micro solved that problem. Also as another reviewer mentioned, even though the screen is smaller it can actually make the some games look better because is harder to see pixals, so fewer rough edges.

Weird, small, and tons of fun even for adults
If you have tight pants, this is the portable game system for you. It's slim, it's tiny, and most people won't even know it's a game boy - they usually think I'm using a cell phone. That comes in handy if you're an adult and don't want people to know you're still addicted to Pokemon. The screen is incredibly bright compared to my old SP. The only down side is that there is no way to connect it to the Gamecube for certain games, like pokemon colosseum or Zelda: Four Swords - but if you look on wikipedia, you'll find some people have figured out a way to do this with some cables and solder.
