Doesn't keep the correct time
I loved the idea of the time being projected on the ceiling and when the time is correct this is a great feature but I still have to use another clock as an alarm clock. I've had this clock for over a year now and so many times the time switches to something random. I have it set on the right time zone and have tried to get it to work properly by setting it both manually and using the atomic time. This clock is not reliable at all. I am scared to use it as an alarm clock because it has failed to keep the right time several times since I bought it. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

homedics sound machine
I have looked all over for an alarm, cd with time projection and was thrilled when I found this, however, the projection bulb, I assume, does not display the first number (12:00 looks like 2:00) and have emailed HoMedics customer service but have not received a response after over two weeks. Very disappointed as I do not relish the thought of trying to send it back, etc.

of course
this product is exactly as described. the sounds are cool. if you use a cd for the alarm you can select any track on the disc to play. i liked it enough to buy one for a friend as well as myself. the shipping was prompt. i highly reccommend this product.

Several faults, I'm replacing it
I've used this alarm for several months now, and today was the last time it fails me. It's being replaced. I won't repeat any of the positives in other reviews. The clock isn't all bad, but let me point out the problems I've experienced that cause me to replace it: The owners manual makes no mention of the daylight savings time setting. You'll need to find that by trial and error. That made me late for work once. The backlight dimmer has only two settings: ultra bright (daylight all night in the bedroom) and very bright (overcast day all night in the bedroom). I had to put two layers of window tint over the display to get some sleep, and then it is unusable during the day. Could any of these companies figure out how to use a variable dimmer on the display, or a photocell to automatically adjust it? The "soothing spa sounds" turn on very abruptly with a little electronic "click", and it is far from soothing to awake to the sudden jolt. If the "soothing sounds" ramped up over 10 seconds, it really would be a nice way to wake up. Who designs these things? They just have zero common sense. The atomic clock feature caused it to reset itself to the WRONG TIME numerous times, causing the alarm to malfunction. Today was the second time this month. You can't turn off the nightly auto-reset, and when it gets a weak signal it just resets to some random time. I could overlook the all the other faults, but I have to set my old $9.99 alarm next to it as a back-up for the inevitable failures of this one. I have another weather station with atomic clock about 6 feet from this one that has NEVER failed to display the correct time in 5 years. Not once. This thing will be in a yard sale waiting for the next sucker.

exactly what we wanted
what we were looking for was a sound machine that didnt turn off during the night. Babies wake up often and when our other homedics clock stopped playing in 60 min she wouldnt get herself back to sleep (she can hear us downstairs)Now that shes older, she plays to her music also. I rated a 4 not a 5 just because in the background of the white noise i hear a very faint something that sounds like a person's voice and I cant sleep to it but didnt get it for myself. We do want one for our room that doesnt time out, but may look for a different one just because of that.

If you want to be late for work, buy this clock!
This clock is a genuine POS. I bought this for my wife for Christmas 2006 because most of the CD clock/radios these days seem to take a PhD to work them (and we only both have master's degrees). Although this one is fairly easy to use, it had a hard time picking up satellite reception no matter where we moved it. A couple of months in it started to occasionally lose satellite connectivity and pick a random time making her late for work. This happened a few times until now it won't sync up with the satellite at all and I can't manually set the clock because it loses my setting when it tries to sync up. On top of that, the projector lens broke the first day I got it, and the radio reception sucks, and sound quality is poor. If you want to waste your money like I did, be my guest, but I wouldn't bother.

Sound Spa radio/clock
Very nice design and plays nature sounds nice and clear. So far features work and function as expected. Would have liked to see a repeat function for CD player and an input for earphones. However as a clock/alarm and sound spa, very good job. Dimer light is still a bit bright for me but then I prefer a dark room. Although I expect most people will find the light soothing in blue.

good sound when it worked
everything worked except the CD player. it would play one song and quit. all the other options were great.

DON'T BUY THIS CLOCK!!!
We bought this clock in January and everything was wonderful until now. The one day we woke up to the coffee maker brewing and it startled us why the clock didn't go off. Then we saw that the clock was an hour before. So I reset it and took it off the atomic signal. That didn't work. At 1 AM it searches and corrects itself even if it is off the signal. For the past week and a half we have been using our cell phones as alarm clocks. If we wanted to use our cell phones, we wouldn't have bought this nice clock. I tried to write the comany and I got no responce. I saw in the book they want $10 if we send it back to them for "repair". We should just spend a little more and get a better clock.

Nice, but too bright and needs sleep option
I like this radio, and use the nature sounds quite often to create white noise in my bedroom. There are 6 sounds to choose from and they are all pretty good. The sound quality is decent. I like that I can listen to the nature sounds without the noise of having a CD running (as I did with my old unit). There are a few cons, however: - blue backlight creates a lot of light in your room at night. I almost took it back for this reason. The solution I found was to create a flap out of heavy construction paper and tape it over the display screen, with a penny inside toward the bottom to weight it down. I lift the flap to view the screen and tap the snooze button to display the clock on the ceiling for a few seconds. Without this, it would keep me up all night. Blue backlights are the worst and you can't adjust the brightness on this. - Needs a sleep option to play a sound or CD for an hour and then shut off. If you turn on the sounds, they are on all night. - It's very large - takes up a ton of nightstand realestate. - buttons aren't quite sensitive enough. I press the snooze button and it clicks down, but nothing happens. I have to press on the right side to get the clock to show. Not a big deal, but not ideal. - Projection clock is dimming on some numbers, though it's only a few months old. Pros: -I like the projection option. Very handy. I just wish I could shut the screen off and just use snooze to view the projection clock when I want it. - the atomic clock is great - nice to have it always properly synchonized automatically. Overall, I'm quite pleased with this item.
