This docking station did more than I had anticipated. I thought it was just going to give me an ergonomically correct way to view my laptop. But it also made it so much easier to read the screen. I hadn't realized how much difficulty I was having viewing the laptop screen until I got this device. It also gives me more desk space, which is at a premium. Follow the basic instructions and you are off and running. I'm using it with Microsoft Vista. I have a printer, network cable, mouse and keyboard connected to the device and everything works fine. And I don't notice any decrease in speed. Thumbs up. 5 Today Laptop Dock Station This expansion dock has played its role quite well by letting me use my laptop as a desktop with perfection! It's a must-have ergonomic and practical accessory for everyone who needs the laptop to work as a desktop PC, back and forth. It's particularly convenient for professionals like me (an English from/into Brazilian Portuguese translator / interpreter at http://www.studio.pro.br) who work at my home office, but have to frequently take the laptop to work at international events. There are issues with third-party docking stations that have video ports, but this product simply replaces the problem of having to connect multiple cables, with the ease of just one. However, it won't run my speakers (get left channel only), or my USB keyboard. I ended up plugging all of my devices back into the laptop. I would look elsewhere if I were you. 1 Today Most Useful and Unique Item on My Desk I bought this for my 15.4 inch laptop and it has worked flawlessly. I get a lot of comments about how unique it is in appearance. It permits me to use the screen on my laptop instead of purchasing another computer monitor so it saved me money. 5 Today Very close to optimal Everything about this docking station works perfectly (I am running a Dell Latitude) except for the over promise on the document holder. While it is a great idea, there is no way an 11" tall piece of paper will fit between the clip and the top of your keyboard. Decently attactive piece, as well. 4 Today Great product compared to others like it I'm the sys admin for a small company and my boss wanted a dock for his XPS laptop (no docking option) so USB was the only way to go. The recommended Dell product crashed regularly, so I came to Amazon and found this puppy. It's worked like a dream. 5 Today Ergonomic and does what it says but needs improvement I own a toshiba m-115 laptop and was searching for a cost-effective and effecient way to dock it. I chose this docking station because the manufacturer claimed that I would not need a separate monitor. It is true, my laptop has a 14 inch widecreen and since the dock is adjustable for your height range you would be able to view your screen without straining your neck. This unit is not plug and play. Read the setup instruction and install the drivers before use or it will not work. Some improvements that I would like to see are: 2 ps/2 ports for legacy keyboards and mice (I had to by a $15 usb to ps/2 splitter. Kensington should at least provide one with every unit sold); additional USB2 ports; a firewire port; a switch which enables you to use the laptop speakers or external speakers ( When your laptop is plugged in you can only use external speakers). Other that those things I am satisfied, I especially find the built in document holder useful and a space saver. Another thing... It is an issue with most usb hubs and docks to be able to hook up an external hard drive or any other mass storage device, with this dock it is not a problem. I have an external drive and a card reader hooked up to this without any problems. Do yourself a favor and get one because it will save you from allot of hassle. 4 Today convenient and easy to use Easy to set up and easy to use.
