| Product Reviews from Amazon.com (Rating System 1 to 5) |
| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Good Multi-Use Printer/Scanner/Fax/Copier Nice Compact All-In-One Device, works well, easy to install, and maintain. Does everything that I need at a very reasonable cost. Not the fastest, not the slowest----but good for a home office use. Does well with most tasks that it was designed for. Set-up was easy---even had my teenage son do the install. Buttons are easy access. The only thing that I would like to see included was a sleep or hibrinate mode when not used for some time. | 5 | Today | A good machine to have! I am really pleased with my HP 6310. Before this I had a Brother All-in-One. It was always doing a self cleaning. I went through ink like crazy whether I was printing or not. This machine has worked well for me. I've had it for probably close to 2 years. I keep it set on "fast/economical" print which doesn't use as much ink and it prints really fast, especially if you are printing a longer document. I think the printing is pretty good for typical home-use documents in this mode. If a document has graphics I will often choose "regular" printing, because sometimes it doesn't blend the colors really well in fast mode. People often start laughing and are startled the first time they hear it print like this because it does sound funny. My ink has held up well for me. I only replaced the ink a few times and I use it pretty much.
If anything would happen to this machine I would not hesitate to replace it with the same product unless I would decide to go with a laser printer. | 5 | Today | Easy Mac Networked Printer This printer may be an ink hog (I'll reserve judgment on that), but the setup to connect the HP 6310 Printer to my router via Ethernet cable, and use it wirelessly with my Apple MacBook running OS 10.4.11.
For over a year I've been unable to use my old network printer setup due to changes in Apple's software (though it could be a configuration issue with my home network, my failure to sacrifice a goat before reinstalling the print server, or the phase of the moon - who knows?). At any rate, I decided that this printer would be the best solution to the problem, considering the age of my old HP 7130.
The new all-in-one has a considerably smaller footprint on the desk, though it is a less sturdy machine than the old 20-pound tank. I had installed the software from HP's website the night before the printer arrived, so the actual setup took less than 10 minutes, and the printer was recognized immediately.
Print quality is excellent, even at the most ink-stingy quality. | 4 | Today | Big Paperweight I won't ever be purchasing another HP Printer. This printer is SLOW at scanning. SLOW at copying. It takes about 1 minute to make 1 copy. - And im not kidding.
The paper tray is a joke.
The Software disk provided wouldn't even load on 2 different networked machines. The Downloaded drivers CRASHED both systems. When you strip out all the bloatware to just use the driver - it causes constant instability with the network and the PC's when booting, constantly giving DLL errors with the driver pack.
I sent it back.
And Remember.... you only have 30 days to return it, after that, HP has to service it IF...they deem it has an issue. | 1 | Today | Not worth it in the long run I'm on my 2nd HP-6310, but I think I'm done with HP printers, or for that matter anything from HP at all. My first 6310 worked OK, even though it was a resource hog with all the bloat-ware that gets installed when you set it up for the first time. That printer lasted about two years before it started filling every other printout with streaks of random garbage.
Mistakingly, I bought a 2nd 6310, since the it was on sale at Staples at the time and it it had all the features I was looking for (fax, copier, network interface), and the previous one had worked OK before it started causing problems.
This one now jams immediately when printing photos, using the exact same HP photo paper that we had used with the last one.
There was a time when Hewlett-Packard was a Great American Company. They have long ago, however, made the jump from a being a printer manufacturer to just being a seller of overpriced ink. | 1 | Today | Nice All-in-one We are very happy with this machine. All functions work like a charm. Set-up was easy. I connected it to my wireless router. PictBride is nice for downloading pictures. Just insert the memory card. The price goes down every week, so take advantage of the deal. | 5 | Today | nothing but problems I bought this the end of 07 . My husband who is computer savy connected it for me. It has been nothing but problems for me. I have windows vista and that might not be helping. The software up date every day and then almost every day there is problem . It will say not connected to the computer although nothing has changed. I have restarted the computer some days it works somedays nothing. Today it will not scan telling me there is no connection yet again. Yesterday it was printing today it will not. I have had my husband look at it and he said it is impossible. The HP assistant that comes up is useless. There are times it comes up with nothing. Do yourself a favor and by something else. | 1 | Today | Too Expensive to use and not compatible with VISTA I had this printer for a while (2+ years), and it has been expensive to use. The Ink cartridges need to be replaced too often.
Recently I purchased a new laptop with Vista. I downloaded the new software, but when I tried to scan, it doesn't work. going to HP's website, it basically says, use Microsoft's scanning software; which still doesn't work. Since my move to Vista, an additional problem to deal with is the printer occassionally (once / week) becoming unavailabe, and the only solution is to uninstall ALL HP printer software and do a new install. This is not fun when you're on deadline!
Lastly, their support is terrible. Their web site is geared toward sales and not helping you after you've purchased their printer. How arrogant! I sent in an email to try to get help, and they didn't respond for 5 days! Not acceptable.
I strongly suggest you NOT buy this printer. | 1 | Today | Rubbish This printer replaced an old Canon because I thought I wanted to be able to scan and copy. I didn't buy another Canon because the print heads wore out rather quickly.
At least the Canon worked. I've had this for 3 months and the scanning virtually never worked properly. Not the hardware, but the software. HP seems to think that it's perfectly reasonable to ship a 300 MB cluster of buggy software apps that are not needed just to shove their products onto our computers. After hours of troubleshooting with their friendly agents I still cant' scan without either 1)Windows error messages or 2)having absolutely NOTHING happen. I'm running this on the exotic and seldom-encountered Windows XP SP2 on a Dell laptop. I'm an IT manager, and this absolutely fails the "Dad" test in that my father could not possibly set this up himself. (He was able to set up the Canon that I bought him for Christmas).
Plus: Print quality is decent, both black & white and color, as well as photos.
Minus: Copying is as slow as refrigerated molasses. Scanning doesn't work. Rather than letting you install a little bit of software that works they practically ship you a new operating system that's slow and buggy.
HP, you fooled me once and you will not fool me again. | 1 | Today | loved it, but then... It started off as an easy, user-friendly all-in-one. For black and white printing it's fast and efficient.
But make sure you set your defaults or else you'll find your ink gone before you even get going.
It eats ink like no other printer I've ever known and when you reload it performs a useless, ink eating alignment page. Then the next 40-odd colour pages come out streaky and unusable before eventually settling itself.
I wish I was joking.
It is frustrating and expensive, not just on the ink but paper as well. Not to mention the amount of your own time wasted. | 1 | Today |
