Targus has a winner on its hands with this very simple design. I can't carry any of the active fan cooling designs on the road with me because they're so big, and they don't seem to have that big an effect anyway. Just a little air underneath the laptop is all I can really do to help make the computer run a little cooler.
I just wish these things were cheaper. That could certainly happen if there were more competitors with similar designs, but somehow, no viable competition yet.
If you really wanted to save money, just buy two door stops or round door knob stoppers, and just use them to prop up the upper corners of the laptop. The idea is the same, but I'm paying $30 for a more elegant way to lift up the laptop from the surface. | 4 | Today | Perfect Solution!

I liked this so much that I went back and ordered another one! My 15.4" laptop does not wobble at all, no drives are covered, and the resulting keyboard angle is extremely comfortable to work with. Computer runs at least 50% cooler using this stand.The fact that it also folds up to such a small footprint makes this the ultimate travel companion for your laptop. I tried a stand with 2 fans, but when I plugged it into the ocmputer, it shut down immediately. Instant return (not from Amazon). One last thing: when I initially ordered it the amamzon price was $22.99. One day later the price had jumped to $31.54! What goes Amazon!!! This is a very cool product. I had a problem with space on my desktop for my Asus G1S, also my asus eats a great quantity of power so it gets very hot. This stand is from Targus, very solid metal, easy to use, no problem at all.

This is the coolest notebook stand ever. It really does fold small enough to fit in your shirt or cargo pocket, but still support my 17" VAIO. Outstanding construction and quality. Good looking, people will stop and ask about it. THE item for Notebook/Laptop warriors. This little guy will fit in just about any bag or case. I'm buying several more for friends and family.

I have two important points about this product: 1. It works. My laptop runs cooler (less high fan usage) when I use the stand. 2. It's extremely well made. It is sturdy, lightweight aluminum, and it folds to a very small size to tuck neatly into my laptop case. I have another type of cooling stand, but totally prefer this for its portability and stability. In view of the quality, the price is definitely not too high. | 5 | Today | Small and efficient.
It takes up almost no room in my laptop bag when it is folded up and unlike other commenters, it does not block ANY slots on either side of my Dell Inspiron 9400 17" widescreen laptop. I got this product couple of hours ago. I used to use something like this before and I foun that this product is very durable and very portable. It's really help my laptop from heating problem. My laptop is Sony Vaio N-Series. Yes, it does cover the SD slot of my laptop, but without the cover, it won't hold your laptop tight, which I think you not gonn like it.
I was in the market of laptop stand. I found that my product is fit my need the most. I do not need the heightor USB port. All I need is a laptop stand that can raise up my laptop for heating release. If your laptop is too hot, your computer's parts will be broken very soon.
