Not too bad, but....
The scanner works GREAT, and automatically creates a .jpg image the exact size of your photo -- not like other scanners that makes an 8.5 x 11 image with white in the background. HOWEVER, if you have A LOT of photos, you will have to scan them one at a time. The negative loader works well, too. The problem with this product is the software. It's not easy to get your settings (and I'm an advanced user!), and it's a bit slow. I would've given more stars for the quality of the scan, but the software is really, really, bad. Also, if you have a lot of photos, you can send them off to be scanned for the same price as this scanner.

Very Good Product
We purchased the Epson Perfection V350 on 03/09/2008. With the free shipping it arrived in only a few days. The installation was effortless on Windows XP-SP2. Operation is so easy "that my computer illiterate wife could use it" her quote! No complaints so far. We have not used the 35mm neg. scan option yet. Our last scanner was an Epson and we had no problems with for 4 years until it finally burned out. We hope the Perfection V350 last as long.

Perfect for the price
I've scanned documents and photos (not negatives) and it works great on both. For documents, I like that it can scan the docs directly into Adobe pdf format. For photos, I especially like the color restoration it did on the old color photos (circa 1970's) that I scanned in, making my old photos look better than they did before. I have not tried scanning photo negatives yet.

Better than expected
So far I have scanned both photos and 35mm slides. Both exceded expectations. Enlargements from slides had excellent resolution suitable for printing.

Epson Perfection V350 Photo Scanner (B11B185011)
I have been using this scanner to digitize archived family photgraphs ranging from recent to many decades old. Installation was easy on Windows Vista and the learning curve was fairly short. It has a few minor quirks in the way it previews and frames the photos, but I have discovered ways around these. I like the control it gives you in the professional mode for adjusting colorimetry and exposure. Scanning time is a little slow, but manageable. I recommend it as a high quality home scanner. Professionals might want to look further.

Epson Perfection 350 Photo Scanner
The scanner works reasonably well, although the on-line instructions are not good, and some of illustrations in the poster do not match those on-line. My objection is that the light will not turn off following Epson's instructions to depress the PDF and adjacent scan buttons at the same time. Epson's technical support told me this was a hardware malfunction but the second scanner Amazon sent out had the same problem. If any other user can suggest a solution, I'd appreciate knowing it. Epson's technical support person was useless.

Epson V350 Scanner
Excellent scanner....does everything most people except for the high volume professional might need. You can scan your negatives, color slides, photo of all shapes and sizes. Couplke with a good photo editing program and you have the makings of a mini photo editing lab. I highly nrecommend this product nthat has a large qty of prints or slides that needs to be archived. I scanned over 1000 photo's and slides without a single hitch. In addition to photo's it works great on documents and also avoids the opportunity to edit once scanned. AAAAAAAAAA+++++ Brad Anderson

WOW!
I bought this scanner last week and am absolutely amazed at the quality for scanning and fixing old photos, negatives, and slides. The color restoration is incredible. It restored the color in some old photos of my father's cars from the '50s and '60s--boy was he pleased. I have Windows XP and it plugged in and operated perfectly. The directions for loading items to be scanned are a little iffy and it took some experimenting to get it right. NOTE: if you are doing old negatives from Kodak 110 or 120 cameras you have to trick the negative reader by putting them in the slide holder. It is a pain, but it will work. NEGATIVE: won't take odd size slides; sometimes the "program" edits out parts of the negative and slide that you don't want out. Again, some moving around tricks the program and I could eventually get it. I don't know why these companies don't just scan the whole thing and let ME crop out the parts I don't want. My old HP drove me nuts doing this. The scanner is slow for large files, but I don't have anything to compare it to. My old one was slow also, so that seems about normal. I want a scanner that does large format negatives, but am afraid that any other one wouldn't be so user friendly or do as good a job. This one is GREAT.

Nice features for the price
I have always been a fan of Epson printers and I have always heard very good things about their scanners, so when I saw this scanner I had to have it. It has some pretty impressive features for an inexpensive scanner (slide and negative scanning with automatic negative feeder, high resolution, great color depth, and my favorite: scan to pdf). I have to say that it does produce great scans of prints, but at higher resolution the scan becomes somewhat grainy. I have been getting great results scanning larger prints (5x7 or 8x10) at lower resolution (600 to 1200 dpi), but I sometimes wish I could get equally good results at the highest resolution so that I can crop away and still have high resolution results. I am also disappointed in the quality of negative scans - they come out far too grainy (you need to scan negatives at higher resolutions in order to capture all the detail). But I don't plan on scanning too many negatives so this isn't a real big deal to me. My conclusion is: this is a good, inexpensive scanner with some nice features, but don't let the impressive resolution fool you - you can't take full advantage of it anyway.

Epson V350 Disaster
I purchased this product at a time when I was very busy. After a few weeks I had a chance to unpack and begin using the scanner but after only about 10 scans, the scanner bar began to slip so badly that the scanner became unusable. I was unable to return it because of the 30 day limit and now it is in the limbo land of a computer repair center in North Carolina. A huge waste of $130 for me.
