I upgraded the firmware, but that didn't help. The email support was pretty lame (Me: "My product is stuck in Recovery Mode"; Them: "Here's how to access Recovery Mode"). I finally got a human being to respond by email, and they sent me an RMA # to return the product. I've spent many hours now troubleshooting, emailing, repacking, and now I'll have to make a trip to UPS to ship it back, at my own expense. Who knows what they'll send back to me and if that will work. 1 Today Stay away I have bought several of these units and in each and every instance they have failed after a few months. They haven't failed because of abuse. They were all gently used, strictly to listen to audio books. Once a unit fails it is a hassle to return for an exchange, through Creative Labs. 1 Today Great Product This product exceeded my expectations. It's small and yet packed full of features. It's durable with great looking graphics. 5 Today My first mp3. Am very pleased. I researched the Internet for days to be sure I would buy the device I needed for audio books, podcasts, and music. I've found it in the Creative Zen V. Have no complaints. It is easy to use, quite user friendly and meets my needs which is to hold a few music cds and several books. Currently have four unabridged books, two one-hour pod casts, and several music albums and still have some memory. I'm not interested in the video, but it has some capabilities there. I recommend this product. Dennis 5 Today Does not work well for books I've had lots of problems with this MP3. Forget about customer service, you can only find FAQ, which are not what you need. Problems: 1) The endless menus are annoying 2) Bookmarking takes more than four screens 3) WATCH OUT! If you let the battery drain it will be dead FOREVER and new ones cost $44. 4) These units go dead dead dead, you have to reset, losing everything 5) They have tried to do way too much with this little thing. We'd much rather have a player that SIMPLY WORKS 6) You can't recharge them with AC, you have to use USB connection that is very lengthly 7) It is very difficult to find a good MP3 for audio books-- either the library sites are not compatible with them OR they are very hard to bookmark. 1 Today Great MP3 Player This little player is a great "step into the 21st century" player. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and it has worked flawlessly. It's easy to use and rip music to the device. The capacity is just right - I have albums that have some lengthier tracks on them and I have 566 songs on it with 1.6 gig to go. It's great to know that you can shuffle your songs according to album or random all. Many of my coworkers have become interested because of the quality and the price - it's an excellent value that isn't jacked up because it's an Ipod. I can't recommend it enough 5 Today Annoying software and horrid controls The control wheel and controls on this thing are horrid, screen resolution is equally as bad. If you have even 3gb of music on it it's sluggish and doesen't respond at all. Complete junk player. 1 Today Creative Zen V Creative Zen V Plus 4 GB Portable Media Player (Black/Blue) I bought the 2GB Zen last year in the spring when I started walking after the long winter. I download books from the library and only allow myself to listen if I am walking. Works for me. Recently my husband discovered how great this mini wonder is, and I thought it would make a fantastic birthday present. With spring approaching we are taking advantage of its many features while doing our spring clean up. My husband likes being able to listen to a book, music, or FM radio that this model features. We would highly recommend this product. 5 Today Great Value But Average Performance Very nice little MP3 player for a 4GB player, but the sound quality is only average. My old player is louder and clearer than this one, but with true surround sound ear pods the difference isn't as bad. Thats my only gripe about this player...the sound quality is only average. 3 Today Great sound, nice looks, spotty reliability! Creative makes very nice toys but I have had big issues with reliabilty! This Zen V plus lasted 10 months before the display faded and shortly after the unit died. Still under warranty...but you have to pay a $25 service fee + shipping! My son had a Zen Microphoto that lasted a little over a year before it too crapped out.
