| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Great product, super English-speaking customer support! After 30-plus days of use, the Canon MF4150 gets 5 stars! It's fast; very quiet; it duplexes; not one paper jam after hundreds of copies; it simply works as advertised! (Full disclosure: I haven't used the fax because I have no need of it.) But do you know what really sold me? The combination of great technology design and customer support! You can own something that is purported to be the best-of-the-best, but if you have a question and the manufacturer's 'support' folks can't explain/fix something, well, it's just another boat anchor. I've phoned Canon three times (their 'tech' people were in Virginia--that's the USofA folks!) and each time the question/issue was resolved, including the 'fix' for printing inside of Quicken 2007! They were professional, knowledgeable, but at the same time, friendly and personable. Buy this printer! You shouldn't be disappointed!! | 5 | Today | Canon Laser Printer A good choice for a printer. It was easy to install. It has been easy to operate. I am very pleased with the price and I can recommend this product to anyone. | 5 | Today | One month review We bought the product about a month ago. So far, we are very pleased with the product. The MF4150 was purchased to take some of the load off of the Canon Faxphone L75 printer and to replace our outdated scanner. (Cat owners please read the last paragraph.)
The auto-feeder is wonderful and after one month is working perfectly.
The scanner and the process to create PDFs is 600% faster than what was required by the Epson Perfection 610 flatbed scanner.
The double-sided print feature is working extremely well.
This past month we printed over a 1,000 pages with the starter cartridge. Then we received the low-toner warning. Therefore, we shook the cartridge and have increased the life expectancy of the device. This is a trick we have been using on all cartridges.
My favorite laser printer is the Canon Faxphone L75 with the FX-3 cartridge. The cartridge would last for 11 months and was able to print about 4,000 to 5,000 pages. I am hoping that MF4150 can compete with the economy standards of the Faxphone L75. If you are looking for a printer, try to find one of these discontinued items. We switched to the L75 from using inkjets in 2003. Our operating expense dropped from $650 down to $75 in cartridges. We had no problems or complaints with the L75 over the past five years.
For $200, MF4150's price is very reasonable and so far we have no complaints.
Right now, we are very pleased with the product. I wish that these review sites would have a follow-up page for one year later. It would be interesting to see how the product performed over the course of time instead of just the first thirty days.
Our cats are happy with the MF4150. They can see movement and attack the moving paper. When our predators are attacking the machine, they are safe from any moving parts. Whereas with an older HP color inkjet printer, it was annoying to see our white cat with green paws. Our cats were intent on killing that moving HP cartridge and occasionally a paw would get snagged by the moving part. The MF4150 appears to be cat safe. If our product testing team comes up with a different conclusion, we will update this review (if possible). For those that think it is would be easier to position the printer out of the range of cats, you haven't owned a cat or if so, that cat was mentally challenged. No idea how dogs respond to the printer. | 5 | Today | Great for the price This unit works very well for the price. I don't know of too many other MFP that duplex at this price.
Clean printing and very few jams. So much faster to first page than my cheap Samsung. | 4 | Today | Love it I had an old HP Deskjet 712C and the ease of use and speed of printing on this Canon is incredible. It was easy to set up and the scanner (and document feeder) work great. I also love the duplex printing. This was a great value for the money. | 5 | Today | Inadequate toner cartridge The toner that comes with the printer is poor. It only lasts about 25 pages and then required replacement, at a cost of close to $90. Not exactly what we anticipated when purchasing the product and there was no disclosure about the limited life of the toner. | 3 | Today | Good all-in-one, but no scanner driver for macs I got this printer quite a while ago.
Duplex printing works great: even though it is not as fast as some would like, I think it pretty good for a printer at this price-range.
Only reason it is not getting five stars is because there is no way I can get the scanner to work with my Mac. Apparently, there is no scanner driver for Macs and Canon does not seem interested in making one available. If I did not have my stone age era Windows machine still with me, I would not have been able to use it...
CANON: I LOVE YOUR ALL-IN-ONE AND I HATE YOU FOR NOT SUPPORTING IT FOR MACS!!!
| 3 | Today | Stopped working after a year and a half. I've had this product for about a year and a half, and for the most part it has worked well. Two days ago I got the "toner not set" message. Tried reinserting the cartridge multiple times, tried a different cartridge, I even tried shaking the stupid thing like one reviewer suggested. Finally I called Canon and was told it's a sensor problem and I'd just have to send it in to be fixed (of course no warranty any more).
I don't personally consider a year and a half to be sufficient time before a product breaks down, planned obsolescence or not. I'm just going back to my HP. | 1 | Today | Great machine-Works flawlessly This is a quality all-in-one canon product. I operate a business out of my home and this canon aio does everything I need and saves me money and time. Highly recommend this aio for your personal office use. | 5 | Today | Cannon scanner does not work The technical service support need a lot to be desired. I had to change a toner cartridge and it took me three phone calls to get it right. The memory inside the cartridge had to erased out, and this was done by turning the power on and off at least 10 times. I never tried the scanner before until yesterday, and even after few phone calls I am not able to get it working. The technical service people need lot of training. I would not recommend this product to anyone | 1 | Today |
