read the reviews, did the research, took a chance and purchased through amazon and their affiliates. It was a wonderful experience. No hard sell for anything like you would find if you purchased from some of those other sites. I am very happy with the product. it is easy to set up and once I hook it up with a blue ray player, I was amazed by the quality of the pictures.

I purchased the tv through amazon warehouse, i was a little skeptical abouting spending so much money for a refurb that i have not even seen but i decided to give it a try since it was for $1600. I was between this a samsung lnt5271 and xbr4, the sony was just to expensive and i was worried about the glare from the samsung so i decided to try the sharp even though i saw some many people complaining about banding issues. I have seen a little when it comes to the whites but it is something you really have to look for, the ps3 looks awsome and i cant really imagine a much clear picture. And the tv looks great the floating glass is a very nice touch. I recied the tv a little late it took close to 3 weeks getting it, i think it was a issue with the warehouse, but for the price i couldn complain, delivery people were great.
Somes cons,
very little banding but like i said you really have to look for it, i was not impressed with the sound at all, it is nothing like the sony i had but i have a bose system to do most of the movies and games, but for a tv that cost that much i really expected better. I can also see that if the tv was mounted and you did not have a month that is expandable it would be had to connet things since there is no side inputs. the last thing was the auto sizing of the pic, its not very good at switching on its own from hd channes to regular air most of the time you have to manually switch it back from strech to dot by dot, that can get kinda annoying.
Other then that the picture is really nice and i guess thats the most important part right? I also recomend using amazon so far there customer service seems to be great but then agian i have not had many issues so i guess we will see. | 4 | Today | awful warranty service
DO NOT BUY THIS TV unless you are prepared to deal with an incompetant company with a non-existant warranty. I purchased this Sharp Aquos LC-52D82U on 12/11/07 and have owned it for only 2 months. As my wife and I were watching and enjoying the great picture on this tv, the picture suddenly began to disappear, beginning from the left side of the screen and continued to the right until there was no picture at all. There was still sound comming but no picture. Obviously a manufacturer defect. I got in touch with Amazon immediately who told me to get in touch with 6 Ave. Electronics, where the tv was actually sold from. They told me I had to contact Sharp (already a hassle). Once I finally contacted Sharp Customer Service they told me it did indeed sounded like a manufacture defect and would send an authorized Sharp service person to come and try to repair it. I explained I did not want a repaired tv I expected a new replacement or a full refund. I spent $2600 for a new tv, not a new refurbished tv. They told me the 1 year warranty only covers parts and labor for the tv. Now its been 1 week from the day the tv malfunctioned and Sharp told me it will take one more week to get a service person out to my house to fix it. If they can't fix it they will replace the existing tv with a new one, which could take another two weeks. Huge hassle. | 1 | Today | Great HDTV
We have had this TV for about 5 months and the picture is great. We mounted it on our fireplace just above the mantle used the hollow underside of the mantle to hide the HDMI and power cords. I'm not a tech person but sports and movies have been wonderful. | 5 | Today | Good value
We bought this tv to replace a 61" HD rear projection that was getting a little long in the tooth. We don't regret going smaller at all because the picture is outstanding. You do have to adjust the picture settings to get the best results, but once you get it right, there's no equal. We looked at countless tv's before deciding on this unit. The price on Amazon was several hundred less than anywhere else. Shipping was fast and set up was easy. I'm also surprised by the sound, it's really not too bad considering the size of the speakers, but we'll be adding a surround sound sooon. We haven't noticed any faults with the panel, no lines or dead pixels. The only thing we don't like is the very reflective border around the panel. If you're in the market for a large LCD with full HD, this should be your choice and Amazon should be your retailer. | 4 | Today | Satisfied
I am very pleased with the Sharp Aquos performance. My first choice was actually a Sony Bravia but the price and performance that Sharp had to offer could not compare. I was also a bit leery about making such a big electronic purchase online but the product came as expected and without any problems. I have had my Sharp LC-52D82U for more than a month now. I have compared it to Samsung 50 Plasma (5054) and Samsung DLP and many other. Except for the black level, Sharp picture hands down is better and more fun to watch. Colors are bright and vivid. Action is great and with 120 Hz refresh rate - the fast motion is great. CNET talks about banding - I have no idea what they are referring to. I have not seen any banding or color non-uniformity. I have no idea why C-net has raised the flag on Sharps larger units??? Compared to the latest LCD's from Samsung with clear glass (71's and 81's), Samsung has more fluid picture but the reflection and cost are the big disadvantages, not to mention whites on Samsung tend to have a brown tone. The remote and adjustments on this are somewhat limited and not intuitive. The access to the inputs is fine unless you intend to mount it ( not the case for me). Over all this is one great TV for the price...I am sure like all hi tech electronics, in a near future, a newer technology will top it...But until then this will be a top of the line unit... | 5 | Today | Great picture, a few nits
First and foremost, the picture is wonderful. The color, brightness, viewing angle, etc., are all terrific. That said, there are a couple of things I found annoying and perplexing...
1. When mounted on the wall, the power, inputs, and outputs are all unreachable. If you need to add or change a cable, it means pulling the TV of of the wall. It would have been much better if all of the connections were placed along the side or bottom, so that they were accessible while the unit was on the wall.
2. The mount points for the wall mount are too close together. This leads to the TV feeling wobbly when mounted on the wall. I guess it's secure, but the amount of play doesn't instill much confidence.
All-in-all, I'm very happy with the TV. It's just a shame Sharp didn't put a little more thought into the physical design of the unit. | 4 | Today | This LCD HDTV rocks!!
What more needs to be said? This thing is awesome! The picture is phenomenal. Easy set-up. Terrific anti-glare. Even good surround sound (if you don't have another system in place). Highly recommend it. There's a reason why it is considered one of the best on the market. | 5 | Today |
