| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Logitch G5 Mouse review Over all not a bad mouse. The only reason that I cannot give it five stars is the left & right click buttons were stiff when the mouse was new. The buttons have loosed up over time. I love the ability to add or subtract weight in the mouse. I prefer a heavier mouse and the G5 fits the bill. | 4 | Today | Great control, great price. Feel: The mouse is nice and large to prevent cramping. It has a nice grip texture that's not too rough. The mouse is very ergonomic and all the buttons are easy to access.
Response/software: The mouse comes with a large amount of software which can be confusing. So by the end of setting it up you are adjusting mouse sensitivity in Windows, G5 software PER game, and in the game. I would suggest default all game settings and using the G5 software to make adjustment per game. On the fly mouse sensitivity changes are nice in game when using a long-range weapon.
Weights: Not sure what these provide, stability?
Overall: Take time to set up the software and you'll be adjusted to the mouse in a few minutes of game play. It actually does improve your game performance. Excellent mouse.
| 5 | Today | A great mouse with a some improvements for gamers. This model comes with a great improvements for gamers. The only thing here is that could takes a little time to adjust it to get a great precision. | 4 | Today | Good mouse, but not the end all I was hoping for. I got the G5 to replace my Logitech MX310 when I upgraded to my new quad-core system. I figure I had waited so long to upgrade my rig that I decided to go all out and make it the most killer gaming rig I could.
When I cracked open the G5, I spent the time to set it up and make sure it was going to work correctly. I got the weight cartridge correctly loaded for my hand, I got the sensitivity set and the button assignments rigged to my games... after a couple of days, I came to realize I miss my MX310. I've been using the G5 for about three months now and it works flawlessly; but it just doesn't "wow" me. I will admit it's "slide" capability is impressive over my old mouse (it doesn't make hardly any noise as I move it along my mouse pad), but it didn't really increase my speed at all.
It is a great mouse and I'm a huge fan of Logitech (every mouse I've owned in the last ten years has been a Logitech), but I'd probably just settle on a cheaper mouse if I had to do it over again. I'm not feeling this mouse was worth the price difference. | 4 | Today | Well worth it! First off, I want to say that I've been using the G5 since late 2006, the old school one with the rust design. I loved that mouse, and was rather dissapointed when the scroll wheel broke while playing Quake 4 (I don't roll the scroll wheel with the pad of my finger...I flick it). That was in no way related to the mouse itself, just my stupid way of playing the game. So, for the next few months, I used it's wireless brother, the G7, but there's no replacement for a corded mouse while gaming. Don't get me wrong, the G7 is a wonderful mouse, but I like corded.
When I ordered a new laptop a couple of months ago, I decided it was time to finally get a new G5 (this one), and I must say, I love it even more than the old one. It fits my hand perfectly, and the weight block is great. I love the fact that I can customize the weight of the mouse. The only real complant I have about it is the fact that the sensitivity adjustment buttons is so high up.
The Setpoint software is welcome, as well. It allows you to set up three different DPI settings to switch to on the fly, as well as set up custom profiles for your games as to which buttons to what (Like using a side button to melee in CoD 4)
That thick cord that has recived some complants actually does serve a purpose; it makes it very difficult to tangle. In all the time I've used the G5, I've never once had to undo a rats nest at a LAN party while setting up. It's also very durable, so I know that it'll last.
All in all, this is an excellent mouse, much better than Razer's Diamondback (Yes, I have used both. The Diamondback feels awkward and flat in my hand, plus the side buttons are uncomfortable to me) I can't say much about MS's offering, not having used one, but I'll stick with my G5. Well worth the money! | 5 | Today | A great upgrade from wireless I bought this mouse a month ago after purchasing a brand new computer. I previously used (and loved) the MX700 which is a wireless optical and so keep in mind that I bought this mouse very skeptical of going laser and going wired (tie me down!). I must say that I have been pleasantly surprised.
Ignore the low reviews saying they couldn't move accurately on Minesweeper or Hello Kitty Online Adventure; this mouse is for gamers in the true sense of the word. If you play MMO's or FPS games, this is a great buy. The cord has a nylon covering on it which softens it up a bit, making you feel less tied down. The laser is incredibly accurate and I have yet to run into drifting issues or inaccuracy problems (something my MX700 suffered from).
The DPI settings are helpful at times when you need a severely accurate sniper shot, and though the DPI buttons take some getting used to hot swaping it will be easy peasy over time. I am used to a heavy mouse since the MX700 required 2 AA batteries and so the weights were a great help in making the transition easy.
If you are looking for a mouse that is accurate, comfortable, and does not feel wired then this is the one for you! I never give 5 stars so consider this a top notch rating. | 4 | Today | Mouse button 1 Over all mouse works much better then my previous mouse. The in game sensitivity adjustment feature is great. Also, the comfort and weight adjustment are ideal. However, button one sticks from time to time and I have to click it again to get it unstuck. | 4 | Today | Laser mouse the mouse works very well --no problems. I am not a gamer so can't rate it on use in games | 5 | Today | nice mouse with good features I love this mouse because you can adjust the speed (how touchy your mouse is) with a simple hit of a button on top of the mouse, but you have to do this every time you wake up your computer. The mouse surface feels somewhat rough because of the cracked paint look. I have tried using the weights but prefer to use the mouse without them. It was a little hard to get used to this mouse because I have to hold it a little sideways to make it move like I want to. Would probably buy a different mouse next time. | 3 | Today | Nice but not ideal ......... The new G5 is not bad at all. The "dpi on the fly" buttons can and should be programed for other functions. I prefer weighting it with all the 4.5 gram ingots for the most solid base possible. Very flighty without any weights whatsoever.
Only thing is, Microsoft just put out their double thumb button mouse that positions the buttons over/under each other and there is no need to stretch the thumb to reach the further button of the two !!!
I want to try Microsofts mouse now as it looks to be a better fit. | 4 | Today |
