After recieving these speakers, I was a bit disappointed to find out that the power switch was located on the bass speaker box, which I usually keep under my computer desk.
This location, of the power switch makes it inconvenient to use, but the sound quality coming from the speakers are really great. I needed a pair of speakers to replace my horrible sounding dell laptop ones. These were great and also made me switch off from wearing headphones! Even though they have a aux port these dont come with a audio connector for that. | 4 | Today | Finally, a solution for Zune!
The Altec Lansing Bx1121 is a great little speaker set. It sets up in less than 1 minute and provides nice sound. I have a Zune Mp3 player and have been looking for something like this. I have noticed that there are a million speaker systems for Ipod, but relatively nothing for Zune, so thus this is a great purchase for me (works for all Mp3 Players!). Great price at Walmart ($24.97!!!), and amazon's price isnt too bad either. Overall, I would definately recommend this product! | 5 | Today | Great price, plenty of volume, but where's the bass?
24.88 at Wal-Mart, can't beat that, and they're a definite improvement over my laptop's built-in pair... but it's all treble with this set! Straight out of the box, this set sounds like a Walkman from 1980, even after turning the bass all the way up, and the treble all the way down! After resorting to a third-party graphic equalizer utility, I was able to get response out of the subwoofer. Shoulda spent a few more bucks, my last set, made by, of all people, GE, was much, much more dynamic! 5 stars for the price, -2 for the lack of bass. | 3 | Today | work great!

I am not an audiophile. You and I both know that if you are VERY sensitive and picky about your sound equipment, you probably aren't going to LOVE anything at this price point.
That said, these speakers work great for my computer. The sound is rich and full, and I like being able to control the treble and the bass on the speaker. There is a plug for your headphones and an auxilary jack on the main speaker. Much more convenient than trying to find the jack on the back of a CPU and switching it out! They are loud enough for all of my uses (video, music, gaming) and the sound is always clear and realistic. | 5 | Today | Exceeds expectations
I just wanted some base and good stereo sound and after reading reviews about this and that, I was a little hesitant to spend less than 50 bucks. I got these and they have exceeded my expectations. If you want a little bass, good highs; just a generally good sound to compliment your laptop this is a great buy. | 5 | Today | I can't complain at this price
I'm actaully glad that I made this purchase. Given that these speakers are not high end, I was a little concerned. I was pleasantly surprised when I got them hooked up to my computer. For the price, I am satisfied with the sound that these speaker produce. The volume is good for listening at the desk and in the same room. The clarity is fairly decent. If the bass is turned up, it does get garbled. A moderate bass setting produces no problems.
Strengths: good price, decent looks, plugs for headphones/ mp3 player
Weaknesses: not for high performance, power switch is on bass box which is placed out of sight. Makes it hard to reach if it is placed out of the way. | 4 | Today | Very clear sounding
Pros:
1. Clean Sounding, does not sound tinny like some of the other sub $50 speakers I have listened to.
2. Auxiliary port and Headphones port on the speaker
3. Independent bass and treble control
4. Was impressed by the packaging of the speaker system
Cons:
1. The bass was a little weak compared to a similar Cyberacoustics system, though the front speakers are clearer
2. The power switch is on the sub-woofer
3. Speaker wire length is very limited, enough for a desktop speaker, but just about.
Conclusions:
Nice sounding speakers, will not rock you, but good enough for listening to music and occasional movies. Not recommended for gaming. Don't expect 100 dollar performance in a 30 dollar speaker, if you want better look at Klipsch Promedia 2.1 for music and Logitech Z-2300 for gaming. | 5 | Today |
