Right when it boots up it sends you to a screen which you can fully customize the look of with your silver or gold membership. You can even choose a gamer picture but this is where it leads into a little trouble. <br />One of the biggest troubles is the new marketplace. Its a great idea rushed out to take advantage of an underage audience who doesn't realize the value of money. You buy Microsoft points in order to buy content, pictures, and themes. The problem is that they now charge for content that is not only free on the PC versions, but now they are also charging for content that patches bugs in games (Ghost Recon, Oblivion). <br />On the good side they do have some great games and are getting them out a little faster, even though they have their downtime, but what console doesnt these days. Although this is great, again the marketplace is ruining these games because they are being released glitched, or unfinished. The Creators of these games feel they can push out an unfinished product and patch it later. Still they have some very fun games out finished or not. <br />Now, onto the Hardware and software. The Xbox360 the most powerful console out, and the PS3 is most likely going to be either as powerful or a little more/less powerful, but nothing extreme. But the 360 is very accident prone. Most people will scream if it dies, its your own fault, like you just killed a baby. But the fact is, it can and most likely will die unless they make the software more stable (just like Windows). Also the power brick can die easily from one or two power flickers. <br /> <br />So the conclusion is that this is a very nice system, but don't forget the warranty. If you're looking for something that can just sit around wit 2 774 days ago ok............. First of all you need a intercooler for this console. Especially if you have a game like Morrowind. Hi I am the kid who reviewed on june 8th. i just read some of the other reviews and just wanted to clarafy something or rather two things. For all you microsoft haters out there LISTEN!!!!! If you are one of the people who claims there system over heats, you have to realize electrical equipment heats up. you cant control this. But if you are worried or need some reassurence just cough up 20 bucks (you probably spend 6oo already) and go to ebgames and buy an inter cooler. it is a snap on triple fan attachment that will help disperse heat within your 360. now for you peps havin the problem with scratched discs, Ask yourself this, have you ever changed the postion of your 360 while it was on? doing this like changing it for horizontal to vertical can mess up disc. think about it a thin disc spinning at 3000rpm aprox. within a closed object, it will get damaged and maybe even damage internal systems. And also THINK!!!! WAS IT SCRATCHED WHEN IT CAME OUT OF THE CASE??? IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE!!!!!!!!! DID YOU SCRATCH IT??????? THAT IS WHY I CHECK MY GAMES WHEN EVER THE COME OUT OF CASE!!!!!!! I am dyin to know!!!!!!! 5 774 days ago the sony-killer... the ps1 ruled the world. <br />the ps2 was a total piece of garbage with terrible games, yet still sold on the back of the brilliant ps1. <br />ps3 (especially at $600, i can only assume that they will be manufactured as shoddily as the ps2s as a result): failure in waiting. <br /> <br />the xbox 360 is awesome, is user-friendly, has great games, and will sell 10 million consoles before its competitors arrive. <br /> <br />i don't really need to get into the wii because nintendo is just trying to be a second-console-in-the-home type of company, and i can't imagine that people will really want to spend dozens of hours gesticulating wildly with some stupid (but inventive) controller scheme. plus the name sucks. besides nintendo rules the handheld market still with the fantastic DS, better in every way (except graphics) than the P.O.S. psp. <br /> <br /> 5 774 days ago I wish I could give this stupid piece of crap negative stars!! I bought this piece of crap system the first day it came out. I was so excited because I though that it was going to be a state of the art thing, but alas that was not true. Every single game I have boughten for it have not been able to read. This is the stupidest system ever. I actually got to see one game for 1 whole minute, but it had the graphics of a PS one. I am going to forever stick with Sony for they are the best ever. The problem is that I bought the 360 at a no return store so I am stuck with the piece of crap.
