| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Junk Jeez, what a disappointment. I purchased this based on the glowing reviews and had it packed up for return within 48 hours. First of all, this is not a "steam cleaner." Real steam cleaners are able to heat water to the proper temperature before spraying it on the carpet; this unit simply uses hot tap water, which was lukewarm at best by the time it was sprayed out. And that's when I could get it to spray, which was for only a minute or two. It made horrible squealing noises whenever I turned it on, sprayed next to nothing on the carpet, and then made a loud BANG before starting to smoke so badly that I was prepared to toss it out on the lawn if it burst into flames. I had to open all the windows and turn on a fan to clear the air! I can't remark on how well it extracted water from the rug, because not much fluid made it onto the rug. And it did absolutely nothing to remove the stain I was working on.

If some customers had luck with removing stains with this machine, the credit must go to the brand of cleaning fluid, not its method of application. I can do that with a sponge and save a lot of money. Luckily, Amazon took the thing back. | 1 | 749 days ago | LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!! I was searching for a carpet cleaner that would take out some hard stains (that have been there for years, I'm embarressed to say!). Not only did I need a tough cleaner, but one that was affordable. I didn't want to waste my money on a cheap cleaner that wouldn't do the job I needed- but I trusted the reviews on this item, and I am so glad I did!!! You CAN NOT beat this cleaner! For the price, and the EXCELLENT job it does, you will NOT be disappointed!!! I just got mine today, and cleaned my WHOLE house!!! :) I LOVE IT! THANKS AMAZON! | 5 | 749 days ago | A Quality Steamer For A Pittance I purchased this Bissel QuickSteamer about six weeks ago. I purchased it specifically due to our incontinent beagle. I have used the big $400 carpet cleaners before, and while this little Bissel is not in the same league, it still is a very good cleaner. And worth much more than its meager $55 price tag.

It is light, easy to use, and even comes with a bottle of carpet shampoo. You fill the little container up with hot water, add some cleaner, slap it into the steamer body and you're ready to clean up your carpet. Just squeeze the trigger on the handle to squirt out the cleaner and let it go for it to be kind of sucked back into the steamer.

Now if you have a massive 3,000 square foot house then obviously this steamer is not for you. But for working in smaller carpeted areas and rooms, this is perfect. If you want to clean an entire room's carpet extremely well, you may have to re-fill the water/shampoo cannister once or twice. But the re-fill process is quick and the emptying of the dirty water only takes a moment, so this really isn't a problem at all. This steamer isn't designed for huge jobs.

The only problem I've ran into is that if you do not fill up the cannister to the "fill line" when you begin your cleaning, the trigger button may not work. I looked at the troubleshooting on the Bissel website and it says that the steamer functions on a "gravity process" or something of that nature, and that the steamer needs filled completely to get the whole gravity thing going. So, when you start make sure its filled completely.

Anyways, for the super-low price and the steamer's excellent performance, I can't imagine that you could find a better machine for a better price. This is an excellent product that I'd highly recommend to anyone. | 5 | 734 days ago | Easy to use; our place looks better! We want to know why every landlord in California puts in light carpet. In the mean time, we'll tell you how much we like this cleaner.

We're hard on carpet in general, but then we got a dog and couldn't believe how much dirt she could track in.

This cleaner isn't made to do your entire carpet, but that's pretty much what we used it for at first. Guests noticed the difference immediately. We use it for spot cleaning now, and we'll probably still buy a new carpet when we move out (hopefully yet more years hence). In the mean time, this was a great buy and helps us maintain a basic level of cleanliness that is perhaps at least once-removed from godliness. | 5 | 734 days ago | Great Buy for the Price! We have a smaller home, 3-2 with carpet everywhere except the baths and kitchen. For years I have been using a full size monster-rug sucker! Now with 3 kiddos, 2 dogs and a baby on the way, it has become my routine to clean the carpets every other week. With this compact and very lightweight version I can get the whole house done before naptime is over...the carpet is even dry by then! Yes, I do have to refill the tank about 7 times, but this keeps the water very hot and effective. The tank empty and refill is so quick and easy, it's not really a big deal. For anyone wanting to maintain carpets without a huge storage space needed and without a huge production just to get the thing ready to clean, this is a great alternative to the monster rug-suckers. | 4 | 734 days ago | It is good for what it is Easy to assemble and use. If you have only a few area rugs in your home, I think you would be satisfied with this product. If you have many area rugs or larger ones or especially, if you have carpeting, you should buy a larger unit with rotating brushes and a larger water storage capacity. I like mine a lot for ease of use and cleaning our few area rugs. | 4 | 734 days ago | Worth the risk if you were hesitant like I was - First of all - Amazon.com and DHL lied!!! I placed my order on 07/01/06 and was told that it would arrive on 7/13 - 7/17, well it got here today - 07/06/06! I am "so upset!!" LOL ;-) Don't bother with express delivery as the free shipping is THE way to go with this product.
Second - This little baby has some power!! I vacuumed before testing it out. As I emptied the dirty water, the intake where the waste water container meets the actual extraction area was practically clogged with carpet fiber!! I was amazed!!!!! This unit seems to be on par with some of those bagless vacuum cleaners out there as far as suction power goes!!!
I used a bit of oxy-clean in a high traffic area and SATURATED it using the machine, a few swipes with this machine and about 5 minutes later, my carpet was DRY, not damp dry, but DRY!!! I WAS going to buy a new vacuum cleaner, but with this why bother? - I can have a totally fresh carpet once a week instead of just plain old vacuuming.
I'm glad I took this risk! For $65 I think it's one of the better investments I've made as far as home appliances go (knocks on wood! LOL). But I do wonder what the remanufactured part(s) are so I know what to look out for. | 5 | 734 days ago | Works well; worth every penny. From the initial appearance I doubted its ability, but it proved me wrong. Despite the light weight it sucks up a disgustingly impressive amount of dirt. | 5 | 734 days ago |
