| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Mine also died after 1.5 years I liked this product very much, until it died after a little under 1.5 years. I brought it to a repair center recommended by Panasonic. They quoted me a parts-and-labor price of around $125 to fix the thing. The repair included a new membrane pad (the buttons on the front), new fuse, and new fuse holder.
The repair center told me they've been instructed by Panasonic to replace all old fuse holders with newer, better ones. Apparently, the original fuse holder was somewhat defective, causing the fuse to burn out. I don't know if this bears any relation as to why a relatively new membrane pad might have gone bad, but it's certainly annoying for a device costing several hundred dollars.
Hopefully for me, my problem will be solved by the repair. Hopefully for any new buyer, Panasonic has solved this problem. Regardless, this type of poor quality rates two stars in my book. | 2 | 807 days ago | Great Value I decided to replace my counter top microwave to save space. After extensive research, I came across this item. When I purchased it, the price was significantly lower that the "low end" over-the-range microwaves I had seen. It includes many features not available on other comparably priced models. It arrived promptly. The electricians had it installed in about 30 minutes. They merely removed the vent hood and installed this microwave. After programming the great features, it works great!! I am very well pleased. My only complaint is that when it's operating the noise is a little louder that my smaller counter top model. I love shopping with Amazon.com. | 4 | 790 days ago | Poor quality and Service My Panasonic over-the-range microwave only lasted 1.5 years before it died on me. Panasonic wanted me to uninstall it, bring it to them and pay too much to have it repaired. It wasn't nearly as good as my GE over-the-range microwave which lasted more than 10 years! | 1 | 790 days ago | It doesn't work! Well, this is the first and last major appliance I'll be buying from Amazon.com. This product requires a dedicated electrical circuit. We spent nearly $600 to have an electrician install a dedicated circuit, since we did not currently have an over the counter microwave. That involved two days off from work, not including the time for the electrician to come out and estimate the project. Then we paid $100 for installation. $700 later, we finally try to actually cook something in the microwave, and it does not work at all! It is "on" for 3 seconds, then shuts off. No matter how we try to program it: Quick Minute, low power, high power, defrost, etc., it always shuts off. Panasonic also has no "in home repair." Now a Service company has to come in, remove the microwave, then take it back to the shop and order parts from Panasonic. Considering I ordered this product in Mid-September, who would have expected it would have arrived in early November, and now probably won't be returned in working condition until December. The Service company said, "That's the problem with buying online..if something's wrong, you can't just take it back to the store and get a new one, you have to go through the hassle of having uninstalled, waiting for parts to be ordered, then reinstalled." Well, this is the ONE AND ONLY TIME I will be going through this hassle. | 1 | 790 days ago |
