They are very well made and function perfectly, giving surprisingly high quality performance for a USB-type speaker set up. If you're going to pay princely sum of $50 or so for a set of laptop speakers they're not going to thrill you like a set of B&W 801s hooked up to a Krell amplifier, but then you're paying about $800 less for a set of these Logitech beauties, and I'm not aware any laptops that reproduce sound like Krell. For the money, they make remarkably good sound. They are clear and crisp without excessive or muddy bass. Set up is a snap, and the case is pretty cool too. 5 736 days ago A Pleasant Surprise! The speakers provide very clear and ear-pleasing sound, with the controls on the right speaker serving as a virtual remote control for windows Media Player. I knocked off one star for the very short cord between the notebook and speaker. I suppose I could use a USB extension. <br /> <br />I originally bought them so I could hear the GPS voice more clearly in the car. They certainly accomplish that! But they are equally effective at reproducing music. I suspect this can be prevented by applying a strip of tape to the bottoms to give a higher friction surface. 4 736 days ago Here's a straight forward review for potential buyers I really like these speakers, but there are problems <br /> <br />The good: <br />1) Very portable, and the case that comes with the set does a great job protecting the speakers against any physical damage. <br />2) For their size, the sound is quite impressive; I wouldn't describe it as deep and rich, but it's clear and loud. <br />3) As the product description states, it's plug and play; even computer novice can figure it out. <br />4) The buttons on the speaker are very nice, I only wish there was a remote (but that would jack up the price). <br />5) Great value for what you're paying for <br /> <br />The bad: <br />1) I mentioned about the loudness. For me I never listen to excessively (or unnecessarily) loud music. But if you turn the speakers way high, they rumble. <br />2) Lack of bass could really prevent some potential buyers from purchasing these (but again, considering the size they are pretty darn nice). <br />3) The wires are a little bit short, so you can't really place the speakers too far away from each other (and from your laptop). <br /> <br />One last note, do not buy these from Besybuy or any major store. I got mine brand new on ebay for $40 (or 41, if only I can remember). Look around and you'll likely to run into some decent price. 4 736 days ago Surprisingly nice and loud I've been basically living in a hotel room with my 12" PowerBook G4. The PB's speakers are fine if I'm sitting right in front of the laptop, but if I'm on the other side of the room, or even a couple of feet away with the sink running, I can't hear it. It's the same if I'm driving in my car and a passenger is watching a DVD on the PB... I can't hear anything over the road noise with the built-in speakers. <br /> <br />So I've been wanting some external powered speakers, but I definitely didn't want to have to lug around another power brick. Saw these at a local store at a competitive price (with tax, it's pretty much the same as Amazon's price) and decided to bite since I had seen them for $20 higher elsewhere. <br /> <br />I am pleasantly surprised. I am kind of an audiophile, and I have a nice stereo system at home, but I'm not looking for super high quality with these speakers. The main thing that I want is loud enough to hear over the sink running or the wind noise in the car. And these are certainly loud enough. I have them at two volume clicks on my PowerBook (out of 16 maximum) and they're loud enough for sitting here typing. When I crank 'em up to 8-10 clicks, they get loud enough that I know I'm disturbing the neighbors in the hotel -- and they sound pretty good to boot! <br /> <br />They have worked flawlessly so far with my PowerBook. I plugged them in and switched the audio output source in System Preferences. Work great, even the volume and mute buttons. The play/pause/forward/back buttons don't work with iTunes on OS X. I have not yet tried these speakers with Windows. <br /> <br />These speakers are VERY bassy. Overwhelmingly so. They sound very muddy without corrective equalization. I have set an aggressive bass reduction and slight treble boost in iTunes' equalizer, and it gives these speakers pretty decent sound balance.
