When I first started in Digital photography, I swore by SanDisk, their products were of top quality, their customer service was unparalleled, and while you paid a bit more for them it was always money well spent.

<br />That was then, and today it seems to be a different story. Perhaps there are just inherent technological difficulties in the manufacture of cards with 1 GB (or larger) of storage and SanDisk with their eye on fast performance is running up against those difficulties, but I have had nothing but issues with recent SanDisk offerings.

<br />In the last year and a half I have had three of the 1 GB cards fail (two purchased by me, and one replacement from them) as well as a 2GB fail with the loss of all data. The loss of the 2GB card was particularly frustrating given that it held a large portion of a cross country motorcycle trip I took a year ago.

<br />The software provided by SanDisk to perform a recovery of the data, failed to recovery data from any of the cards, and SanDisk was unwilling to provide any other solution.
<br />
<br />As far as customer service goes, they seemed horrified at the thought that I would expect them to pay for commercial recovery of the data. They were willing to replace the cards (less shipping and handling of course), and each of those replacement cards has failed as well.

<br />Compare that with the Lexar Pro 1 GB which made the trip without issue, and continues to function nearly a year later without a problem.

<br />As far as speed goes, my laptop transfers files off the Lexar cards at a higher rate than the SanDisk, and as far as in camera performance goes, both cards seem to write at about the same speed. | 2 | 749 days ago | Excellent value for the money!
I bought this Ultra II CF card for my Nikon D-70s and I am very happy with my purchase. I have read about problems that other people had with this type of card and all I can say is that it is backed by a 5 year warranty. Great card (I have a Canon Powershot A80). Yes, just like any other card, you lose a little space when it gets formatted, BUT THE DARN THING COSTS AS MUCH (or little) AS MY 256 MB CARD THAT I GOT AT BEST B**. ouch. The only gripe is that the packaging can withstand a 12 story drop or a half-ton nuclear burst (whichever comes first) - so the card sneers at you standing there with scissors in your hand. | 4 | 749 days ago | It Memory

This is the second of these cards I've ordered for my wife's Canon SLR, and we've had no trouble with either one. The 1G size is perfect for the camera; any more and you have to swap out the battery (a bigger pain) sooner than the memory. | 5 | 736 days ago | Survived the Washing Machine
