| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Good, but the 5GB version is better value for money A few quick thoughts:
For a little above the price of a 1GB USB Flash Drive, you can get this 2.5GB USB Hard Drive.
In the long run, Hard Drives are more durable and reliable than flash memory.
This drive is not the size of a chewing gum, but is the size of a box of altoids, which I think is quite cool.
There is a 5GB version of this drive available that is slightly more expensive and a much better buy in terms of value for money. Buy that one instead.
| 4 | 769 days ago | Great in every way but one. Mostly, this is a fantastic product. The drive is as easy to use as any flash USB drive, but has larger capacity than all but the most expensive flash drives, at a fraction of the cost. The device weighs only about 2.5 ounces. It is well-constructed and well-designed. There's a cool blue light in the middle that indicates drive activity. Seagate provides a software utility that makes it easy to write-protect, manage partition, reformat the drive, eject it, or password-protect the drive; however, using this utility is not necessary. The USB cord comes out about 4 inches, and retracts all the way in. The drive sits nicely next to a laptop, but hangs by the cord when plugged into a vertically-oriented CPU.

I only have one problem with this drive: speed. The hard drive spins at only 3600rpm. (Most full-size hard drives spin at 7200rpm.) This is no problem for most uses, like editing files, transporting files from your home computer to your work computer, etc. But running software directly off this drive is noticeably slower than running it off your computer's hard drive. I bought this drive to run a portable email client and a few other portable applications. They run very slow. Running the same applications from a USB flash drive is much faster.

The speed reduction is a small sacrifice for the advantages of being able to take 2.5 gb worth of files with you on such a tiny and elegantly designed device. And you probably won't be bothered by the speed reduction, unless you're going to run portable applications off the drive.
If you're still interested, please check out the 5 gb version of this drive - available here at Amazon for just a few dollars more! | 4 | 769 days ago | Good The design is really cool.

But there is this annoying blue busy light whenever you access the drive, it is really bright.

And the cable length is a bit small, 6-7 inches maybe. In my hp desktop, the usb port is right in the middle, the cable length is not enough to keep it flat on the desk or put it on top of the cpu box. Not a problem when using it with laptop.

Can be a little faster. I transferred 2gb of songs, it took like 10 minutes. | 4 | 769 days ago |
