| Product Reviews from Amazon.com (Rating System 1 to 5) |
| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Great Price/Value Ratio... Love this system with my iPod! I know reviews have been mixed, but... I love this little 5.1 system with my iPod. I was trying to find a system for the bedroom; something I could hide a speaker or two on/under nightstands, etc. Tried Klipsch computer spkrs for about $100, but I was missing the "bottom" I get from a simple Sony surround sound/DVD system in the bedroom, and I wanted something separate so I wouldn't be using the DVD system all the time (like leaving it on all night). Moved the Klipsch speakers to another location in the house, and like them fine now for music, news, etc.

I was toying with spending 200-400 dollars on a more upscale spkr system, and was delighted to discover the Logitech. Have not had the subwoofer probs reported by others; don't need huge volumes in the BR at night to listen to music.

That's my two cents. Loved this find. No worries connecting an iPod to the system, which translates the signal into 5.1, I'm assuming (or some pseudo version, but it works just fine).
Enjoy! | 4 | 775 days ago | Great Speakers These speakers are superb. My friend had them and I was jealous and got some.

After they were initially hard to hookup, and I had to get a whole new sound card, they sound great.

However, after a month or two one of the speakers randomly starts hissing/rattlings. It sounds really bad but its only on some songs and stuff.

Nothing better than this on the internet though. | 4 | 775 days ago | Speakers are not really surround speakers (no digital inputs or decoders) For a speaker to be a surround speaker (especially to hook up to a DVD player, etc as they describe in the product description) it needs a digital surround hookup, either coax or optical (TOSLINK) preferably optical.

These speakers us a non-standard (think old sound card) method of connecting via 3 separate analog connectors. This will not give you true surround sound from a DVD player, XBOX, XBOX 360, PS2, PS3, or newer computer or laptop with optical audio connectors. Most computers today do not include the legacy 3 analog audio jacks, and use the much higher quality digital audio fiber optic connector (TOSLINK).

Someone wrote a review here talking about DTS sound from their DVD player through these speakers. These speakers do not have a DTS decoder. They do not have any type of digital decoder. They could not reproduce DTS sound. The user must have mistakenly connected them via the 2 channel connectors and was only getting analog non-surround (Dolby 2.0). That's not 5 channel or digital and is certainly not DTS.

Long story short, not digital, not really surround (unless your sound card does it for you), stay away. Consider yourself warned. | 1 | 775 days ago | Take the time to read the negative reviews... This speaker system sells at a great price and its looks are attractive. At low volume the speakers sound good. That's about the extent of the system's positive qualities.

I should have taken the negative reviews of this item more seriously. Since I didn't, I'm taking the time to write this hoping that YOU WILL. Read all of them before you spend your money AND realize that most of the negative reviews repeat the same messages. Also, I'm no technical expert, but I am a music lover (& sometimes I enjoy listening to my music at moderate to loud levels) and I can easily distinguish between quality sound and poor quality sound.

I copied a few lines from the "bad" reviews below, because they said it so well, and I added my comments below them.

(1) The speakers sound fantastic, up to a certain volume level, at which point they begin to show deficiencies in bass and mid-range response.

(2) Messy, unfocused treble
Very little mid range
Big, boomy, inaccurate bass

(3) Bad Treble and Muddy Sound

Absolutely TRUE. I cannot stress this enough. The volume is good up to about 40% of its max, then sound becomes distorted. The tweeters' sound is poor, at best, from the mid-range up.

The bass is the worst part of the system. It literally RATTLES. You heard me right, IT RATTLES, and annoyingly so. Who in his right mind wants to listen to a rattling speaker? At first I searched my computer area for what was rattling, then I realized it was the bass speaker! Unbelievable that in the year 2006 a company would produce a bass speaker that rattles like this. I have never owned a worse bass speaker.

If you want to listen to your music at a very low volume, then save your money by keeping your factory speakers. My cheap $15 Creative speakers that I purchased a few months ago sound better than these. That's why I have packaged them up and they are bein | 1 | 775 days ago | Connecting from DVD (5.1 RCA connection) to X-530 To those people having difficulty connecting their DVD's (5.1 RCA connection): The DVD will have 6 RCA output connections. 1 each for subwoofer, center, front right, front left, rear right and rear left. The X-530 will have 3 stereo input jacks (3.5mm). You need to get an adapter (Y-type) with dual RCA female to single 3.5mm stereo input jack. You will need 3 of those.

Now connect the following:

1. DVD RCA male rear left & right to adapter female then connect the jack to X-530 rear input.
2. DVD RCA male front left & right to adapter female then connect the jack to X530 front input.
3. DVD RCA male subwoofer & center to adapter female then connect the jack to X-530 center / subwoofer input.

DVD's with 5.1 surround sound will have DTS or Dolby surround system. Since the 3.5mm jacks (it has 2 strips whereas a mono jack has a single strip), will separate the corresponding left and right channels. Just make sure your 3.5mm jack is stereo (2 strips) and not mono jack (1 strip) or else it will combine 2 RCA input into a single output becoming mono. | 4 | 775 days ago |
