Hissing noise in two units made me return mine. After favorable reviews on this unit from Amazon.com and many other reputable sites, I was initially very pleased to have found what I though was going to be a well built, good sounding radio that was a bargain. <br /> <br />Initially after recieving the radio, I turned it on and was impressed by the relatively clear and full sound it produced. I immediately moved it to my nightstand where it was going to serve as my primary listening post for my iPod as I drifted off to sleep. <br /> <br />When it came time to go to bed and the house was quiet, I turned on the radio and noticed a relatively loud hissing noise was coming from the unit even when the volume was turned all the way down. This noise is louder than my airconditioning intake vent outside my bedroom door and my Oreck Air Purifier on the other nightstand when they are both working at the same time. <br /> <br />When I got up, it was not as loud. From what I can tell, if this radio is ear-level (such as on a nightstand ) you can hear a lot of electronic noise and hissing coming from the unit. It doesn't matter what setting the unit is on (fm, am, aux), the noise is still there. When trying to listen to a song on a low volume, the hissing noise takes away some of the mid-range and interferes with the high tones, and if it is tuned very low you can hear more hissing than music. I was so dissapointed because this was my birthday present from my wife this year. <br /> <br />Not wanting to give up, and re-reading the reviews I decided to exchange the unit for a second unit instead of getting a refund. Amazon was excellent about sending me another unit at no charge OVERNIGHT! Kudos to Amazon customer service for treating me very well during this whole process. <br /> <br />I got the second unit today, and guess what, same problem. I'm dissapointed because I don't think there is anything else in this price range that suits my needs. The Boston Acoustics unit doesn't have aux inputs, and the Cambridge u	2	801 days ago
Tivoli AM/FM Table Radio I bought the radio for my wife who works in a large office <br /> building. She was looking for a radio that would give her clear, static free music, and resonable sound quality. The Tivoli AM/FM radio has met both criteria and she is very please.	4	801 days ago

Great reception, wonderful sound quality This is a great little radio. <br /> <br />We live in an area with somewhat marginal FM reception for the NPR stations that we listen to the most. It's been frustrating for a number of years having a great program fade in and out. The Tivoli radio has a great FM receiver section that seems to be both more sensitive than the average FM receiver and more accurate - once you find a station, you don't have to fiddle with the radio to keep the received signal clear and static free. The sound quality is also very nice - it has a 'big' sound for such a small package and a very musical, warm quality. This small radio fills even a medium to large room with sound. <br /> <br />Highly recommended. I'm going to buy another, maybe two.	5	801 days ago
Mighty Mouse The Model One is a fantastic radio. The single speaker puts out a rich sound that easily fills my office, and the radio picks up some FM stations in my 50-story office building that I cannot pick up in my car. The compact size is also ideal for small spaces such as a work desk. My one complaint is that the volume is difficult to adjust at low settings; a slight turn of the knob results in a big jump in volume. <br /> <br />The latest Model Ones come with an auxiliary switch that allows you to keep an external device (such as an MP3 or CD player) plugged into the unit while listening to the radio. In the older Model Ones, you had to unplug the external device to get the radio to work. I called Tivoli and, as of December 2005, they have incorporated the auxiliary switch into a few of the Model Ones (the walnut, cherry and one or two others), but not all of the Model Ones. If you plan on using the unit as a speaker for an external device, you should consider contacting Tivoli to make sure the unit you get has the auxiliary switch. <br /> <br />Overall, a great product.	5	801 days ago
