This little Sony Radio is perfect for what we wanted it for. It has a nice little carrying handle. It is compact. It is lightweight. The price is reasonable. The reception is decent & It can be used with electricity or batteries (batteries not included). 4 AA's does the job. It isn't like our other little radio (Thank Goodness) because that radio holds 8 C size batteries & that gets very expensive.....No complaints on this one though.....Reccommended 4 754 days ago Great Little Radio! This is a great little radio for the money. The sound is decent and the controls are easy to use. The light that serves as a signal strength inidcator is an especially nice touch. 5 754 days ago Love it For over twenty years, my mother had a very old, ugly radio with a ludicrous antenna and a broken on/off switch (she just kept plugging it in an out). She would listen to the thing all the time - it was always set somewhere out in the open, it's antenna poking out dangerously in various directions. So when her birthday rolled around, I decided it was high time to get her a new one. <br /> <br />I got this for it's low price and high reviews, and even when it came in the mail I was very impressed. My mom was, too. The reception is great (we live in the country) and the TV audio is very cool (the old radio didn't have that). I can pick up distant radio stations and the sound quality is good. I have used this radio while doing yardwork. I accidentally got the radio muddy and hosed off the radio (not recommended). The radio is still fine. I just love this little portable radio. I am amazed that China manufactures such a great product because most of the radios coming out of China are junk! Pros: Solidly constructed, excellent reception, built-in AC cord (no seperate wall wart required), decent volume, long battery life, wonderful value for the money. <br /> <br /> Cons: At this price? Seriously, you are joking, right? <br /> <br /> I was given this radio (at my request) as a "birthday appliance" by my wife. I use it primarily to listen to NPR. Here in Honolulu, our public radio station is located fairly close to a 50 KW "rocker/rapper" station (both in frequency and distance). My other portable (Panasonic) does not have the selectivity to receive NPR clearly. This little radio does just fine. <br /> <br /> Additionally, the TV bands work well in my location - - - so at least I can listen to Hagure Keiji (my favorite Nipponese drama) on KIKU-TV when I am away from home and cannot watch the television. <br /> <br /> Being an analog vice digital receiver promises long battery life from a set of 4 AA's, so this is a radio that should prove very useful during hurricane season. <br /> <br /> While this radio will not reproduce "audiophile" quality sound, the sound it does produce is clear and crisp. Certainly it is sufficient to the task of keeping you up to date while on the go. <br /> <br /> This is truly a 5-star item at a 2-star price! Reminds me of the quality of years gone by. It tunes well and very selective once you lock on the station. One thing I noticed was the weight. It has a heavy feel to it for a small radio which tells me it is built well. I'm an old electronics technician and good components and transformers just weigh more.
